Chapter One
I slither past a guard, my hover boots giving off a quiet hum. My breath was surprisingly steady; any other person doing this would be too frightened by the stakes to even make it through the personnel doors. A sleek, shining blade sat smoothly in my holster, a black sleeve fastened to my back, a serene purple glow emitting from the material.
I prowl, hungrily, through the corridors of the ship, in search for the hidden control room. I leap back when I encounter it, the doors sliding open soundlessly over in the corner. A young woman trots out carefully with a device in hand. Just what I need.
Gathering myself in the shadows, I silently leap from the shade, unsheathing my sword in a swift arch of my hand, and without much effort I cut off her cry for help with a single swipe to the neck.
I pull her into the corner from where I first hid, shielding her from the most curious eyes. I grab her tablet, wiping the tiniest drop of blood from the screen. Swiping onto the next display, the device beeps in alarm as it reveals the notification, 'Print not recognized.'
I growl in annoyance as I haul the woman's finger onto the scanning area, but my mood changed from pissed to joy as her finger is verified and I am shown the system management page. Great! Since I have this, I wouldn't need to risk sneaking into the control room, which guaranteed many more skilled and powerful workers.
After a few taps and finger-scans, the screen blinked the words ' Heading to...' and a bunch of coordinates. Numbers aren't necessarily my specialty, but with the help of the markings on the digital map, I finally set the new destination. The exact location of the docked shuttle, Omega.
It's funny, really. I'm about to destroy the home of thousands of cadets and families. But they don't know my cause. My gaze drifted to the microscopic window to my left. The Omega is already a dot on the horizon. I need to hurry.
...
I halt in my sprint down the corridor as I pass my hidden supplies. My hover boots cause me to slide down the hall before I stop, but I manage to grab my drawstring bag before I continue to skate down towards the launch bay.
As I glide through the corridor, I realize, to my horror, that I forgot someone. My friend, Stella the Cat. She was stationed in the sleeping quarters. I groan in frustration as I check my time. Five minutes.
My heart racing, I speed down the passageway, unsheathing my sword in the process, threatening for anyone to even think of getting in my way. I race through the gate of the quarters, and soon enough I see the ginger and white fur of Stella.
I slam my feet into the ground, sending me flying forward into the wall. Quickly gathering myself, I sheathe my sword, which had clattered to the ground, and raced toward my friend. "St-Stella! Th-the ship! It's gonna blow!"
She looked at me as if I were crazy. "C'mon!" I grab her arm and pull her through the hall. Soon enough she manages to figure out we needed to run. She activated her own boots, and soon we were soaring towards the bay.
By now people had guessed we were all about to die. I shove through the crowd, and watch as Stella finally is released from the hoard. I motion for her to open the doors, and eventually I catch up. As I close the doors, I smash the touchpad. Nobody can escape.
"I'll take this one, you take the other!" Stella hollered from across the bay. I nod and jump into the pod she was referring to. Before I seal the door, I call to her. "See you on the other side!" I manage to see her salute from her seat.
Smiling, I seal the door, yank the thruster, and the pod began to float. Any minute now I would be sucked into the atmosphere of Mobius, probably passing out in the progress. I open the doors out into the vacuum of space, and suddenly I was sucked into an abyss.
Looking out the window, I saw it. Omega. A beautiful ship, actually. I could see crowds of people panicking, running throughout the ship in pure fright. Soon their suffering would end. Hopefully.
I sighed. I didn't think it would come down to this. It's somber. As I watch the stars drift by, I suddenly feel lightheaded. I barely felt myself hit the back of my seat before I saw a new black, darker then the outside, yet so much more welcoming.
Hi! Breacche here! I hope you enjoyed my new Revamp of Drifting! There has been a massive change to all my characters, really, and a main change is that of Delta. Her storyline is completely different from her original. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed, and I'll see you in the next chapter! 💫
