Cradle
After a day of grey,
Home is where I lay.
Wrapped in warmth.
Sealed with honey.
Envelop me with grace.
Place your soul, help cushion mine.
Rest your arm, piece back my rib.
Let me belong in your precious crib.
My shield against the storm.
An escape without travelling far.
A vacation for my heart,
A sleep yet to start.
The rhythm of a song,
Repeats through your chest,
Beats so effortlessly.
Soothing this chaotic flesh.
Into a hypnotic slumber.
At peace with you as my guide.
Hold me tight,
Say I'm alright,
Then cradle me through this fidgeting night.
I hope this poem makes up for some time lost. :)
