Jack: Saturday, 12 August
〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜

I was sitting in Zara's house with Mark. We spent a lot of time here, after coming back to the States for the waiting period of Zara's child it had been a long time. Zara did not tolerate me and made it clear. We didn't live with her though, instead we spent our time — and money — at a hotel. Thank goodness for Mark, I couldn't get one otherwise.

I told Zara about what my father said and she immediately shut me down. "My child isn't going to be an Irish bastard like you." Is what she told me.

So I let it go.

Maybe she would change her mind when we saw how little we had.

Either way, Mark and I were sitting on the couch watching television. We didn't really know what to do; we still had close to a month.

At least, that's what I thought.

"J-Jack!" Zara screamed.

"Yeah?" I shouted back.

"We're going now!" Zara shouted and I looked at Mark with wide eyes as I began to get up.

"What do you mean?" I responded. "Zara what are you talking about?"

"Fuck what do you think I'm talking about!?" Zara snarled as I entered the dining room where she was and saw the puddle underneath her and went wide eyed.

"But, this is early!" I responded.

"It's happening now." Zara glared.

"Mark c'mon!" I shouted and we made our way out to the car.

Zara spent a lot of time clawing my arm with her nails and Mark drove and said nothing. Not a word, I was more worried about what was going on in his mind rather than what was going on with Zara.

And well, it took several hours and Mark and I spent a lot of time sitting outside. Zara didn't want me in there at all.

"What's the matter?" Mark and I asked the other at the same time. It made me laugh a little and him smile but we returned to it. "You've been very quiet," I added.

"Well.. I just don't know what to say I don't have much of a connection to what's going on." Mark shrugged.

"I'm worried about what's going on in your mind." I said quietly.

"And.. not about what's going on with Zara?" Mark asked.

Before I could answer, someone in the room spoke up and told me to come inside.

I walked into the room and Zara was holding a small child, and normally I would expect great joy from a child but Zara was.. stagnant. Her eyes seemed empty rather than full of over joyed tears.

She.. seemed resentful, and the others in the room seemed to notice. The only sound was a gentle cry.

"A boy or girl?" I cleared the silence with my quiet voice.

"Girl." Zara responded.

"Is she healthy?"

"A little tiny, but yes, healthy."

"Does she have a name?"

"I don't wish to give her a name; you can." Zara replied and extended the child to me.

I was nervous. Nothing was going the way I thought it would. I reached out and held onto the child.

And then I felt what Zara didn't.

I began to smile, and feel my eyes pricking with tears because she was mine and she was beautiful. The nurses seemed happy with my reaction.

"Wow." I smiled and glanced around the room. "She's so cute oh my gosh! Mark look at her!"

Mark stepped forward and looked at the child. Laughing a little as he observed the two of us.

"So.. a name for her?" The nurse asked.

The thought hadn't even crossed my mind. I had no idea.

A few moments later, I was given a paper with a time and date and written in beautiful print at the top read:

Vivienne Raine McLoughlin

I continued to cradle the child for a long time as I waited around Zara who was fast asleep. Mark and I were absolutely overjoyed looking at the child. She made me giggle and she was beautiful to me.

I don't know how Zara wasn't overwhelmed.

Well, I did know a few moments later when she woke up.

"Mark can you leave the room for a moment?" Zara asked.

He did just that and left me alone with her.

"Jack, come here." Zara said. I walked over to Zara and listened to what she said. "I'm not bringing her to Ireland."

"I know you don't." I said. "You should really reconsider though. Maybe we could work something out I just think it's a —"

"I'm going to give her to a foster home."

"W-What!?" I went wide eyed.

"I don't want her." Zara said. "I don't want that creature in my life."

"No you're not just gonna get rid of her!" I snapped as I held her away from Zara.

"I don't want her and I can't afford her."

"I want her!" I snapped. "Zara she's so beautiful how could you not want her?"

"I don't want her." Zara repeated. "If you want her, keep her. But don't expect my participation. Besides, can you even take care of a child? Isn't it better to give her to someone who can?"

"No, it's better for her to be with me. I want her." I said. "She's mine, I want her."

"Fine." Zara said. "I don't want her. Take her then."

I looked down at the calm child. "I️'m not giving her away."

"Then take her." Zara snarled. "Disgusting child."

"She is gorgeous." I snapped at her. "You'd be lucky to have her but if you don't want her you don't deserve her."

"She's gonna hate you." Zara smiled.

"No, she's not." I shook my head. "Cause I am not a bitch like you." Zara seemed shocked by my words but she dropped it.

AN:

So that's that. There's only one more chapter, and before I post it I'll put the new book up (might do more than one we'll see) but the way I'm looking at it gives me great ideas. So perhaps it'll work out well.

Anyways thank you all very much. Also I look extra cute today.
