Prologue
Everyone was outside gazing at the sky in awe as the moon slowly took the suns place in the sky. They had all studied the solar eclipse in textbooks but it was very different in person. It was an amazing view for everyone.. except one Harry Potter.
Instead, he was inside, sitting alone at his table in the Great Hall, thinking over why he wasn't out there with everyone else; his friends, Ron, Hermione, Dean, Ginny, Seamus, and even Neville. Well, Harry had been told that he couldn't look at the solar eclipse especially in totality. Snape had told him this, so only they knew. Well, actually only Harry knew since Snape had died in the war, and he hadn't told anyone else the words of warning his potions master had spoken to him while he had been isolated at the end of detention, for fear they would call him crazy and pressure him into watching it with them.
He didn't fully understand why he wasn't supposed to, Severus had only said this: "I just need you to swear you won't look at it when the time comes." And "It's not going to end well if you do." And he really couldn't ask why now, now could he? He had sworn to it. It wasn't a swear on his magic, and even if it was, it would be invalid after Severus' death anyhow.
That thought made Harry sigh as he recounted some of the other deaths that had occurred over the course of the war. Dumbledore, Fred, Tonks.. them and so many more had lost their lives.
Surely it's over by now. Harry told himself a few moments later, referring to what was happening out of his vision, having suddenly wanted to be outside with the others. It wasn't fair that they could leave while he was stuck inside, constantly sending longing looks towards the door.
"That's it, I'm going." Harry said, standing with one destination in mind; the outdoors.
If only Snape (or anyone for that matter) would have told him what would happen if he dare look at the natural phenomenon; maybe he wouldn't have gone. Then again, this was The-boy-who-lived.
