In 1779, Edward Ignatius Elementus, a Fire Elemental, gathered several of his friends together to create a school for young Elementals between the ages of 12-19. He felt that the children should have a safe place to call home. He became the head of Ignis house, standing alongside his comrades as the heads of the school.

Today, in 2017, their descendants are heading the school.
