Chapter 10
Twenty Minutes Later...
The effects of the sedative was finally beginning to wear off as Ozone yawned sleepily. Feeling groggy, he still had his eyes closed partially. In his drugged state, he felt something cold on his left hindfoot, which made it a little uncomfortable for the feline. Meanwhile, he could feel something soft sleeping just next to him. "Hey Rachael..." he mumbled, his speech a little slurred. The ginger tabby groaned in her sleep.
Eyes still closed, Ozone felt around blindly. Finding Rachael's paw, he gently kissed it several times. Strangely, it didn't feel like fur. It was soft like fur but it wasn't fur. The tabby's paw also didn't feel like a paw at all. Confused, the hairless cat murmured, "Rachael, are you feeling okay?"
"How did I get tricked so easily..." a voice mumbled sleepily. It wasn't Rachael's voice, or a female for that matter. Officially confused now, Ozone blinked his eyes open. The hairless cat could tell that whoever was next to him was also waking up. Lifting his head and yawning, he looked over to find himself staring right into Tiberius's eyes. One second later, the two were scrambling to get away from each other.
Suddenly, Ozone's back left leg was yanked out from underneath him. Hitting his chin on the ground, he looked over his shoulder to find a foot long chain clasped to it. The other end was attached to Tiberius's right foot. The pair stared at each other in horror.
"This is a bad dream..." Tiberius mumbled.
"Snowball, I know this was you!" Ozone shouted. Observing his surroundings, he realized they were in a small room with no windows, a cat bed, a litter box, a TV screen, one door and a low table.
"Wait, were you kissing my wing?!" Tiberius demanded. Laughing, Ozone muttered, "No." The old hawk glared at the feline as he persisted, "Oh really? How do you explain THIS?!" He held up his right wing, which was covered in slobber. Thinking quietly, Ozone mumbled, "You suck on your thumb."
"I don't have a thumb," Tiberius growled, wiping the slime off with disgust. Turning around so the old hawk couldn't see him, Ozone stuck his tongue out and frantically began wiping it, fearing he had gotten bird flu now.
Just then, the TV screen turned on...
