Horrified expressions appeared on everyone's faces as they rushed over to Duke and the computer to see for themselves. Sure enough, the room was empty. The table, cat bed and an unused litter box were still there. The plate that once held a gigantic fruit cake that was loaded with sugary stuff was still laying on the table. But the room showed no signs of life.

"Great! It's official! They had a massive fight that led to them killing each other! I knew this was a bad idea," Max huffed, shaking his head in dismay. Pointing at the computer screen, Duke spoke with a shaky voice, "But... there's no blood. How could they kill each other?"

"Maybe they strangled each other with the chain," Buddy suggested.

"Then where's the bodies?!" Chloe exclaimed, gesturing to the computer screen.

"They're on the ceiling..." Mel murmured nervously. Sweetpea, after rolling his green eyes in annoyance with the pug, whacked his friend on the head with his wing.

"Whatever the heck happened, we better go check it out," Snowball muttered. Hopping away from the computer, he called over his shoulder, "Max, Duke, Gidget and Chloe, you're coming with me. Everyone else, keep an eye on the computer."

"To the basement we go," Max mumbled.

"No Tiny Dog," Snowball piped up, "We're going on a little road trip..."
