Chapter 54
"Thank you," the black cat known as Felix whispered as Duke got him a bowl of water. Pops, meanwhile, was cleaning up the scratch on his cheek. Leonard had just explained to the rest of the gang that Felix had somehow managed to stowaway on a helicopter heading for Manhattan and run all over the city trying to find them. Several of the others were pretty impressed by the cat's determination. But everyone was confused and curious to learn why. They slowly turned to face Felix.
Drinking some water, Felix glanced around the room at the group. He appeared nervous, his tail twitching slightly. Snowball motioned to him to speak. Taking a deep breath to calm himself, Felix began, "I bring news on your friends-"
"Oh thank goodness! Where are they?!" Snowball cried, happy to hear some good news. Biting his lip, Felix continued, "It's not necessarily good news though."
"What do you mean?" Max questioned the feline.
Scratching his ear, Felix explained, "For starters, Ozone told me that they were being hunted down by Mason."
"Who?" Gidget asked.
"Leader of the largest cat gang in Staten Island, known for some of his tortuous methods and his hatred towards Ozone," Snowball answered, his spirits plummeting.
"Anyways, they managed to escape but not unscathed. The hawk was shot twice," Felix picked up his story. Norman trembled when he heard that. Hugging the young guinea pig, Chloe asked, "How bad?"
"He'll live but it's causing him a great deal of pain," Felix answered. Shuffling his paws, he went on, "About almost an hour passed since the two came to my house when Mason showed up. I told the two to get out of there. Mason, he... he pointed a gun at my head and told me to tell him where they were going. I could only tell him that they lived in Manhattan." He shook as he recalled the scary experience.
"Do you know where they are now?" Buddy asked. Everyone was on the edge of their seats.
Felix shook his head sadly.
