Bandit POV

I looked at Vivian. Tears were flowing down her face as she looked at Jake laying on the Makeshift hospital bed. She looked at me. "Let me tell you about Kate." I began. "Kate was an amazing friend. You see, after Mom left because of dad's 'fantasies' of hybrid research we moved from Ohio to California. I was forced to leave everything behind. My house, My town, My school, My nonexistent friends. Everything! The first day at the new school was hard. I had to start from scratch. On my way home these guys pushed me to the ground and beat the crap out of me. But then, Kate came and beat the crap out of them! After that we were like sisters!" Vivian looked a little confused so I continued with my story. "I came home a few weeks later to see my dad with a huge shot with some type of blue liquid in it. I looked at him and I knew it was time. I asked for one more day. The next day I told Kate I would be...different...the next time she saw me. She was really confused and scared. I told her it was nothing to worry about and that I would be gone for a few days. I came home and underwent the 'hybrid procedure' which went surprisingly well. But...my dad wouldn't let me back into the real world because he feared for what they might think and/or do to be. So.....days turned to weeks....and weeks..........turned to months." I started to tear up. "Then me and Zoe, along with many others, escaped. Eventually, the cops got word and came at us with guns. I ended up running through Kate's neighborhood and I guess Kate heard me because she ran outside and saw me. She was filled with pure fear. I could see it in her eyes. Then she jumped and pushed me to the ground. Then I...I" The tears were streaming down my face now. "I heard a......a gunshot. And I saw Kate.....laying on the ground.................dead. It all happened so fast! I didn't know what to do. Until Zoe grabbed my arm. Then I realized, If I grabbed her I could die...and then all of the hybrids I just saved would be dead...or...I could leave her and save everyone else." Vivian looked at me and got up from the ground and hugged me. 

"I'm so sorry." She whispered into my ear. 

"Y-your not c-cheating on me w-with Bandit are y-you?" Vivian jolted her head around to see Jake. Awake and well.
