Chapter Three.
Carter's P.O.V:
I saw Hayley walking towards me in the crowded hallway of our high school. All I could think about nowadays was how much I love this girl. She's smart, funny, colorful, and honestly everything I want in a girlfriend. We've been best friends since we were eight years old, and then I asked her out on the last day of school last year. She was my best friend and the one I loved most. The person I would give up my life for. I was also extremely exited to tell her that I had gotten into Georgetown. I was going to College.
" Hey Hayley."
She flashed me a nervous smile. " Hey Carter." She began twisting her finger in her hair, the way she did whenever she was nervous. I reached out and pulled the finger from her hair and kissed it. " So, whats up?" I asked. " Oh;" she replied. " I have to tell you something important, Carter. You know, in private?" I could tell from her posture and the slight sweat on her forehead that it was really important to her. What could be wrong? Did I do something?
We walked past the lobby and then she quickly pulled me into the girls bathroom. " Uh, Hayley, I'm not really supposed to be in here...." She whipped her head at me and snapped " Ugh, It doesn't matter right now, Carter." Sheesh. Something was definantly up. " Oh, Hayley, Before you tell me anything, I have something important to tell you, too." Her lip twitched with impatience as she said " Sure, babe. What is it?" I made an overly dramatic hand gesture as I ripped the acceptance papers from Georgetown out of my pocket. " I got in, babe. I'm going to Georgetown." Suddenly, I saw a single tear slip down her cheek. Next thing I know, and she's a sobbing heap on the bathroom floor. I can tell she sees the concern and utter confusion written all over my face. " Hay....Hayley? Whats wrong, babe? What is it?"
She looked up at me, her beautiful eyes red and puffy as she took something out of her pocket. She stood up and handed the object to me. She hesitated for a moment before saying " I'm so sorry. You should never have asked me out." Then sobbed and ran off. It took me a full minute to process what I was holding. A pregnancy test.
My eyes widened and my heart sped up. The air grew suddenly thick, too thick to breath. Positive. I was at a loss of words until I could whisper " Hayley..."
" HAYLEY!"
