Prologue
Class. Class is happening. Class is boring. When can I get out of class? Will this class ever end? Could they have picked a worse teacher for this class? Does this class get out soon? What happens when this class ends? Well, I have another class, then one more class after that... after that I'm not really sure what I'll do... Just a bit of what's going through my brain at the moment. The end of this class can't come fast enough, and I find myself thinking about Storylines. Maybe something incredible will happen today, and I won't have to worry about my future anymore. I won't have to worry about "making it," as they say. I won't just be in the background. I'll be someone. People will love me... that, or they'll hate me. But at least I'll be known on the Outside. Yeah, the Outside...
My thought process is interrupted by a creature passing by the classroom window. I do a double take; I can't really have seen what I thought I just saw. I raise my hand, adrenaline racing. "Sensei, may I please use the restroom?" I ask. The teacher nods, and I tear out of the classroom to make sure that I'm not crazy. That my brain's still in working order.
Evidently, it isn't.
A large, octopus-like, yellow creature in black robes and a cap is walking away from me as I stare, debating whether to run and tell someone. As it turns to walk into room 3-E, the classroom next to ours, it gives me a huge, evil grin that literally spans from one ear to the other. Its black eyes are perfectly round and have no white in them. That's it for its features: two black dots and a freakishly wide smile on a yellow face. I stand perfectly still, the blood draining from my face as that... that thing walks into the room.
I walk back into room 3-F, my eyes wide, and sit back down at my desk. What was that thing? Why is it here? Does the staff know about this? Then I realize it: there's a strange monster in my school, no one else knows about it, and I'm the first to see it. It's the perfect setup for my own Storyline! My head is buzzing. I'm not paying attention to the lecture. I might be getting a Storyline. Holy frickfrackpaddywhack. This is happening.
Suddenly a loud banging echoes through our classroom. The teacher yells at us to get down. I crouch as I realize that the noises are gunshots. Of all the miserable luck. That could've been my Storyline. And I missed it by being in the wrong class.
Dang it.
This still isn't my story.
