I was a dhampir , Lissa was a Moroi, a royal Moroi, the last of her blood line and it was my job to protect her, and protect her I would, no matter what.

Chapter 2

I did not know when but I must of fallen asleep sometime during the ride, for I the next thing I knew I was looking out the windscreen of a car and had two body guards sitting on either side of me. I low hiss came from below me and I looked down and saw Oscar, Lissa's cat suiting on my lap...... Lissa's lap. I was inside her head again. She scratched behind Oscars ears and looked up, I caught a glance at myself and saw I was sleeping against the car door. Dimitri every now and then looking over at me. Not wanting to become distracted I willed myself into my own body.

I slowly blinked, trying to clear the fogginess from my eyes and sat up straight. I turned in my seat and looked at Lissa, who was petting Oscar.

" You good? " I asked her already knowing she was not hurt but she was still terrified from by her emotions, she was scared to go back to the Academy.

She nodded and I turned back around in my seat, it was then that I released that I got a sense of Déjà vu. My hand was handcuffed to the door. Looking over at the Russian Guarding driving I spoke.

" Really handcuffs? " I say with a hint expiration in my voice.

He said nothing but I had known him for years, I knew he wanted to ask comment but kept quite. Hoping to get the same reaction out of him last time he had brought us to the Academy I tried to member what I said when he had taken us back to the Academy.

"You know that I have kept the Princess hidden and safe the entire time we were away from the Academy. " I said.

"You have done a good job so far . " he spoke his smooth voice washing over me and I did not realise how much I had missed it.

"It speaks. " I exclaimed in fake surprise and from the corner of my eye I saw the corner of his lips twitch.

"If it was Strigoi-" I started but was cut off.

"If it was a Strigoi we would not be having this conversation. "Dimitri said. 'If only he knew I could kick his ass' I thought

" This is your idea of a conversation? " I say trying to hide my smile, I couldn't member the last time I was this carefree without any worries. I catch a glance of Lissa in the back seat, I won't be staying problem free for long once we return to the Academy . I would just have to work hard to keep her safe and happy, after all I had the upper hand.

"This is his idea of a conversation? " Lissa whispers in her head to me.

In the quite car Lissa and I let out a giggle. I notice Dimitri looking from me to Lissa with a frown on his face. Oops, I forgot he was the first to find out.
"Crazy, Russian man!Your charm on men is not working on him Rose, I bet, because his Russian, you know what they saw, Russians are tougher and bigger. " I couldn't stop the laugh that escaped me and once Lissa realised what she said she blushed a cute red and spoke put loud.

" Rose, I did not mean it like that. "She hissed at me.

" I don't know Liz, defiantly tougher and bigger. "I tease and she leaned back flopping against the seat ranting at me in her head. I was very glad it was a one way bond, she doesn't know when I'm in her head which means that she won't know when I ignore her.

Me and Lissa's eyes met in the mirror and our eyes lock. Concentrating I try to send her a message.

Everything will be alright.

She gasps in shock but I just send her a wink.

"Rose. " she started.

"Ill explain later. " I say cutting her off.

The guards next to her looked very confused but Dimitri already knew. I did not want them to know more about the bond just yet.

Lisa nodded and I send relaxing a sleeping emotions through the bond. Keeping my eyes on her in the review mirror I watched her until I knew she was asleep before slumping back in my seat, the bond took more out of me than I thought.

I leaned against the window stating out at the trees as we passed them. Sometime later the other two guards fell asleep as well. It was just me and Dimitri awake now.

"You put her to sleep. " his voice suddenly broke the silence.

"What? " I said, not sure if I herd him properly.

"You put her to sleep. " He repeated. "Don't deny it I saw you do it, you never took your eyes off her until she was asleep, you also know she feels and thinks don't you? "

I kept quite not knowing what to say, my mind briefly flashed to a beach which I knew Lisa was dreaming off.

"We are very close friends, we can read each other well. " I said, not a confession but not denying it.

We said nothing for the rest of the rise and before I knew it we were at the front of the gates of the Academy, Lisa and the two Guardians had woken some time ago and was now clearly were of everything around them.

I could feel Lissa's nerves and tried to sooth it when I suddenly felt like I was about to throw up, one thing I did not miss, having a build in Strigoi detector. It was a feeling I would never be able to forget. The nausea that comes with the Strigoi.

Their were several, that I was positive off. We stopped by the gates but no one opened. I tried to look out the windows to see if I could see anything but it was too dark. I almost had a heart attack when a dead body landed on windscreen of the car. Lisa screamed and the guardians unbuckled their seatbelts getting out. The guardians got out of the car as well as Dimitri

"Stay in the car. " was all he said before we were left alone in the car in the wood since they had gone somewhere where I could not see them.

The worst part was that I knew we were being watched. And it wasn't the guardians watching us by the three pair of red eyes glowing in the dark, staring at us.
