Chapter 8
"Make sure he takes all of his medicine on time and refrain him from any form of physical stress. His stupid customers can go to hell. Pestering him for the pettiest injuries because they don't have the patience for medicine," the healer, Yoongi, said in an irritated tone as he stood up from the chair next to the bed on which Seokjin lay in deep sleep.
"And his wings? Will they be alright?" Taehyung asked anxiously. He would never be able to forgive himself if Seokjin's wings got permanently damaged.
"Yes, I estimate they will take about ten days to heal completely. After they have healed, he must not fly too high or too fast or carry heavy objects when flying for at least a month," Yoongi said as he scribbled some more on the piece of parchment before handing it over to Taehyung.
"My assistant, Hoseok, will be visiting everyday to attend to his wings. You have to take care of that rest of his medication, got it?"
Taehyung concluded Yoongi must also be a close friend of Seokjin. The nereid had blinked back tears when Jungkook fetched him to Seokjin's cottage.
When Yoongi left, Taehyung sat on the floor next to Seokjin, feeling absolutely drained from running all that way. His body was screaming from rest but if he fell asleep, there would be nobody to take care of Seokjin. He rested his head on the edge of the mattress and stared at Seokjin's lonely hands before taking one of them in his, caressing his thumb over Seokjin's knuckles.
He decided to go downstairs to make something for Seokjin to eat. The healer had provided him with a recipe for soup but Taehyung had never used the kitchen for cooking. When he reached the mouth of the kitchen, he was surprised to see Jungkook and Jimin already inside with the stove humming. He had totally forgotten about them. They were the ones who had spotted him running like a madman and while Jungkook went to fetch Yoongi, Jimin had carried Seokjin on his back.
Something about Seokjin having so many people who cared about him deeply made Taehyung's heart warm.
"Hyung, you should rest," Jungkook said as he noticed Taehyung at the door.
"Yeah, we'll take over from here, okay?" Jimin reassured him with a smile even though his eyes were melancholy.
"Okay," Taehyung said involuntarily.
Taehyung turned around when Jungkook said, "And hyung?"
"Thank you so much."
Taehyung gave them a tired smile before walking into the living room and collapsing on the couch.
He woke up to a distressed voice calling his name.
"Taehyung? Taehyung! Taehyung..."
The Light one was fast on his feet as he climbed the stairs blindly in the dark. On the second landing, he saw the silhouette of a man walking towards him feebly.
"Taehyung-ah?"
"What are you doing here?" Taehyung asked as he surged forward to gather Seokjin in an embrace.
"I- I didn't find you in the room and the clock said it was three in the morning. I thought- I thought you left." Taehyung hated how Seokjin's voice cracked at the end.
"Seokjin-ah," Taehyung breathed out, bringing their foreheads together.
"Hyung won't ever leave you," Taehyung promised.
And maybe Taehyung had hallucinated it, maybe he was just so exhausted that his brain stimulated an alternate reality or maybe he just slipped into a dream momentarily. But he felt a soft yet desperate kiss on his lips for a heartbeat.
"Let's go to bed...hyung," Seokjin said as he pressed his face against Taehyung's neck.
Taehyung guided Seokjin back to his room, a little dazed from what just transpired. It happened so fast that Taehyung's brain still hadn't registered it as reality.
"Yoongi said you need the bed all to yourself because of your wings," Taehyung explained as he tucked Seokjin under the blankets.
Seokjin hummed in dismay before saying, "Will you stay here until I fall asleep?"
"Of course."
And Taehyung ended up staying even after Seokjin started to snore quietly because he couldn't help but wonder if those plush lips had been really on his.
______________
"Taehyung, let me-"
"No, stay where you are."
Taehyung heard Seokjin sigh dramatically as Taehyung brought out the jar of weirdly green cream and applied it carefully around the base of the fae's wings who laughed hysterically because apparently their wings were ticklish.
Despite Yoongi visiting him a second time to reprimand him for reopening the shop within three days, Seokjin was adamant on helping people. Hence, Taehyung made him sit in the corner of the room and sternly asked him to just instruct Taehyung on what to do with each customer. If their cases were too severe, Taehyung just sent them to Yoongi.
"There," Taehyung concluded as he wiped the remaining cream on the inner edge of the jar and said goodbye to the fae who planted a kiss on Taehyung's cheek before leaving.
When Taehyung turned around, he had to suppress his smile when he saw Seokjin's eye twitching.
"That's the fourth customer this week who kissed you," Seokjin grumbled. "I should just put a sign in front of my cottage which says, "Kissing will cost an extra charge of seven gold coins.""
Taehyung burst into laughter and pinched Seokjin's cheeks as he passed by him.
"Or hang a sign around your neck," Seokjin added.
"Which will say?"
"Claimed property."
"And who claimed it?" Taehyung asked with a smirk as he took a U turn and sat on the floor in front of Seokjin.
"Me," Seokjin mumbled, averting his eyes to the floor, ears glowing red.
"Why don't you clain me again?"
Taehyung's smirk wavered when Seokjin's body cascaded forward, wings and everything, and the younger threw his arms over Taehyung's shoulders and wrapped his legs around Taehyung's waist before their lips met midway. Taehuyng felt like every particle in his body was exploding like fireworks as he finally held Seokjin's waist and kissed his lips with every last drop of gentle passion.
To be honest, the Light one still hadn't registered anything into his brain because even then with Seokjin's warmth seeping into his body, with his delicate fingers twisting around Taehyung locks and his lips searching for heaven against Taehyung's, it just felt like one incredible dream.
Taehyung caressed Seokjin's wings for the first time. They felt so soft like... well, feathers. And they were so warm and fluffy. His fingers wandered to the base of the wings and Seokjin gasped.
"Does it hurt?" Taehyung asked in worry and guilt.
"No, it feels good," Seokjin admitted bashfully.
Oh
Taehyung connected their lips again and focused on tracing the base with his fingertips which made Seokjin hum into the kiss and grip on the front of Taehyung's shirt.
"Hyung- woah!"
They had to break their kiss, lips coated with saliva and both of them panting but still very much tangled with each other. Taehyung's eyes turned into saucers whereas Seokjin's eyes turned into daggers when they saw Jungkook standing at the doorway awkwardly with covered bowls stacked on his hands.
"Um, I'll just- uh, leave um." Jungkook left the bowls on the table and flew away as fast as lightning but not before shouting, "Happy mating!"
"Come on, let's have lunch."
"No." And with that, Seokjin pulled Taehyung closer and locked their lips in another sweet affair.
