( Misty's POV )

I had spend the whole night in the library. But how hard I tried I couldn't find anything about memory loss and how to make sure Leaf remembered what had happened. She seemed to remember us, even me, so that meant only a little bit of her memory was gone. Nurse Joy had looked on a machine and had confirmed Leaf's brain was totally normal. It could've been a really good sleep pill, but there had to be more to it. I hadn't gotten any sleep tonight and wouldn't get any since breakfast was in an hour.

The door opened softly not to wake me up, in case I was sleeping.

"Who's there?"I asked picking something up to hit the person with.

"Just me."Ash said as he walked through the door. His eyes widened when he saw me holding a book in defense. "Were you going to knock me out?"

"Well maybe I could knock some common sense into you."I said with a grin.

"Hey!"Ash replied quickly. "I'm not dumb!"

"Sure you're not. That would explain why you heard me lie when I said there was a Gyarados." Now Ash became a little annoyed.

"That was a lie?!"Ash yelled.

"Yup!" Now the boy ran after me with Pikachu on his shoulder. "Ehe... we could also handle this like..."

"Pikachu thunderbolt!" I got shocked and it wasn't pretty.

"Well that sure woke me up."I said as I fell on the ground. I got toasted, by bug boy of all people. Well technically by his Pikachu, but he had ordered it. He smiled and held out his hand to help me up.

"You know some people have another way of flirting with a girl, but I guess your way works too."a voice said. Shit! We weren't alone. I turned around and saw a guy with dark green hair and dark brown eyes.

"Tracey?"Ash said. "What are you...? Hey wait, I'm not flirting with her! She's annoying and says I'm dumb."

"Well that's at least true." I grinned. Whoever this Tracey was, I liked him!

"Hi I'm sorry my name's Misty." I said and I walked to him.

"Tracey."the guy said with a smile as he shook my hand. "Tracey Sketchit."

"Tracey and I have met on the Orange Islands."Ash explained. "And Tracey is now Professor Oaks student."

"Well, it's nice to meet you."I said smiling. "But I'm afraid I need to go."

"Why?"Ash asked.

"I just... wel..." Both boys looked at me with questionable faces.

"I know!"Tracey replied. "It's because you've been up all night!"

"You've been up all night?!"Ash yelled. Lucky for him we were the only ones in the library, otherwise Ash would've been banned for being too loud. I did feel tired, but it wasn't like I was gonna sleep anyway. The only thing I could see in my sleep was what happened in Cerulean City. And the worst part was that I had played a part in that. It wasn't directly my fault, but I certainly helped. I just wished the memories were going away, soon.

"I'm worried for Leaf."I said. "But that's not the problem, right now."

"Then what is?"Ash asked. He seemed to try harder to become friends ever since I came by to work on Prof. Oaks project. I looked at the floor. What should I answer? If I told the truth everything I worked for would be gone. Though there was something in my head that kept telling me:

'The truth always finds a way. You can't hide it forever...' But even if that was true, I would try to keep it quiet. I would try to put it all behind. I would try to start over and...

"Misty!" I got back into reality. Ash was standing close to me waving his hand before my head. Tracey was looking worried, but let Ash do his thing. Whatever that was.

"Yeah, I'm alive!"I said and I pushed his hand away. "Sorry about that. But I really need to go. No time to explain! Bye!"

Ash blinked a few times and... well I wasn't really sure what Tracey did. But I ran away and lost sight of them. I just laid down on my bed for a few minutes. Then Leaf called for everyone that breakfast was in twenty minutes and if May and Dawn weren't done she would take half of their money. I ran to her.

"So that's how you get your money!"I said chuckling. Leaf smiled back. There was nothing left of the scared girl from last night.

"I've got at least $300 from them."

"Oh my Arceus! That's a lot!" Leaf only chuckled more. Leaf's fast recover made me feel a little better too. My problems weren't half as bad as Leaf's. Still she managed to smile, without faking, and talk like nothing happened. And I was left as a shell, but the pearl in it was taken by someone else. And there was nothing I could do about it. This made me respect the girl even more. Because there was nothing harder than getting up after falling.

( skip time )

Theatre. One of the best subjects of shool. (I've got no idea if you have theatre at school, but I do so this school does too) I tried to sit next to May, but someone was before me. I just sat next to her.

"Hey, I'm Misty."I said smiling. The girl looked to me with a smile too.

"Hey. I'm Serena. I saw you in science."the girl said. She was pretty. She had long, blond hair and a black shirt with a red skirt. "I got a question for you."

"You can ask me anything."I said and I regretted it immediately. What if she knew about what had happened? What if she was gonna ask about the reason I moved?

"Why do you like Water Pokémon so much?"she asked and I looked a little surprised.

"Um... well, they're never the same. They change as water does, they can be happy though if you make them mad you've turned up the heat. Water changes in every sort of way. When you grow you change. If I put some water in my cup it will take the form of the cup. It changed."

"But it stays water."Serena said. She clearly didn't understand my argument. But she didn't have to.

"Well, it's hard to explain. Water type pokémon just feel... I don't know how to say it. I just really like them." 

Serena chuckled. "I'm personally more for Fire type pokémon, but I'm sure you've got your reasons."

I smiled to the girl. Then the teacher came in and started talking. Serena and I decided to make a play together with May and Gary. Gary just started saying that otherwise he had to go with Paul and that that would be a disaster.

( time skip )

"Of course!"the girl said laughing nervously. It was obvious she wasn't much of an actress. "I would never... ehm... I would never..." She just stopped talking. And shook her head. "I would never leave you."she finally said with the worst acting skills in history. But we as a good class had to applause.

"Right. That was very... interesting."the teacher said. "Then next! Gary will you and your group come up." I stood up and followed Serena to the stage. I took a deep breath and came in my role.

Gary started with a short, princely like, bow. "May I have this dance."he said to May. May glared at him for the bad joke.

"Of course you may."she said back. "Though I'm afraid a Gary-dos isn't so good in dancing."

Now Gary glared at her. We certainly hadn't practiced the bad jokes. "I don't think you're a Gyarados." May tried to smile and glare at the same time, but it failed. And instead her face looked ridiculous.

"They're such a cute couple."I said to Serena. I at least remembered my lines!

"I'm not sure."Serena said. She had to fake jealousy and was incredibly good at it. "I think she's a little... pathetic."

"What do you mean?"I said with interest.

"She's poor, doesn't have much. Her family died in a fire and she's not very ladylike."Serena answered. Only the first sentence was practiced.

"You're right. But I think a truly beautiful and rich person is on the inside beautiful and rich. Not the other way around."

"Oh, is that so?" 

'Stop changing your lines Serena!'I screamed in my thoughts. But I kept high looking at the dancing pair. Gary was getting a little annoyed of Serena getting all the attention to her and me. May was just wondering when she could stop dancing.

"Yes, that's what I think."I said. I tried to hide my frustration and I guess it wasn't the worst acting I've seen today.

"Well is there someone you like?"Serena asked. I needed to get the attention back to May and Gary.

"No unfortunately I haven't found my true love yet." This went all wrong. It just made me have those stupid flashbacks again!

"That's too bad. I did saw you flirting with my boyfriend." Wait where did she get this idea! I got a feeling this wasn't just our performance anymore.

"What do you mean?"I asked. My voice was higher and it felt like I couldn't breathe. If those flashbacks didn't stop now, I didn't know what would happen!

"Oh, you know that very well!" Serena had lost her patience and started screaming to me. I wanted to react, but the flashbacks made me sit down on my knees holding my head. I knew everyone was staring at me, but I didn't pay any attention to them.

"Misty, what's wrong?!"I heard May asking.

"I'm sorry!"Serena screamed. "I didn't mean to..." I fainted. I couldn't hear anything more. Everything around me went black.
