plan commencement
Lilly-Rose's POV
The plan was unofficially underway. Everyone was gathered at the hospital, our gathering spot for the past month. I decided it was the day I would finally stand up to my mom, well, sort of. It was the day I would see her crumble to the floor begging for my forgiveness because that was just the kind of person she was.
"Everyone ready?" I asked seconds before my mom walked in. Lucky break for me. If she had heard it would've been a disaster. Although, knowing the group, someone would've come up with an explanation of sorts. Mini crisis averted. The door flew open, my mother walking in extravagantly. Throughout the week she had become even more flamboyant and self centered thinking more and more about staying to pursue her dream of being a famous soap opera actress.
Before speaking she cleared her throat drawing everyone's attention to her. "How's my favorite daughter doing today?" The perfect setup for our plan.
Hanging my head low I said, "Not well. Every day I'm getting worse and worse. I think..." the ending of my part. Fake tears creating rivers of mascara down my face leaving my mom speechless.
Erika jumped in. "We think it's the hospital. Not only does it create depressing vibes, but we also think that the doctors aren't treating her right." Technically Erika wasn't wrong at all. Jake talked to Doctor Evans for us and he spilled everything. There was a lot of illegal activity going on. The deal was if they helped us fool my mom we wouldn't turn them in. All of this going on right under the nose of the law.
Doctor Evans told Jake that my mom said to "do whatever it will take" to keep me hospitalized. Him and my nurse Mia were the only ones in on the rouse. Mia gave me useless pills, literally completely useless. Doctor Evans said that they used sugar and made it look like pills so that my mental health wouldn't actually get better. They did make sure my concussion from falling went away before going through with it, but it was still wrong to not treat the mild depression that slowly crept in.
"What do you mean? I paid good money for this doctor!" No kidding, mom. "All of the reviews on Yelp said he was the best there is!" Too bad he doesn't have any reviews on Yelp. "This is an outrage. Oh I am so sorry, Sweetie." She came over to hug me, but I flinched away. Not a part of the plan despite its helpful effect.
"It's okay, mom. It's not your fault I'm stuck here with horrible doctors in this horrible room for another month." The guilt was getting to her. It was easy to see. Now we just needed to wait for the big finale: Tristan Tales. Until then, minor digs were being spread around. Chad surprisingly contributed a lot to the plan.
Suddenly Tristan busted through the door of my room. "Guys! I was just talking to the lady at the desk and she said that Doctor Evans got fired!" Step one of the plan was complete. My mom was holding strong in her innocent character. His position at the hospital didn't effect her much which is why we had phase two. "And then we were chatting a bit about why he was fired and you'll never believe it. She said that Rosie's case is why. She was all like," Tristan rambled. He even pretended to mimic the voice of the woman. "'That blonde who has been here for a while isn't getting the treatment she needs. We looked at her charts and evaluated them and decided Doctor Evans wasn't being a good doctor. Now we have to send the blonde off.'" More mascara trailed down my face. Everyone else just stared blankly at Tristan, pretending this is hitting them all for the first time.
"Well where do they plan on sending her? Back home with her mom?" Jake inquired. Here is the bomb drop of phase two.
"So the lady at the desk said she couldn't tell me, but then I hid behind a wall and waited for her to talk to her other lady friend. She was all like," again Tristan mimicked her voice, "'We need to go get our nails done. This job is just too much sometimes.' And then the other lady was like, 'Girl I already know.'"
"Would you get to what they said about Rosie?" My mom snapped. The guilt was finally seeping in.
"Oh right. Well they went on for a while about a spa day and then they said that Rosie needs to go to an asylum with a bunch of other people that are 'like her' whatever that means. She said if Rosie has been here so long then there must be something seriously wrong with her. So now they are going to send her off." Boom. There goes the drop.
