Chris leaves sometime while I'm asleep. He gently lifts my head off his shoulder and places my head gently onto a pillow. I don't wake up until Clarissa comes home. I jump up at the sound of the front door opening and closing.
"What?! What happened?!" I rub my eyes and look up to see Clarissa standing a few feet away, laughing.
"Haha, very funny." I smile at her as she puts her purse down.
"How was work?" I ask.
"It was ok. You know. The usual. Pick up the phone and help a poor soul how to figure out how on earth to book a vacation. Sometimes I don't get how people even survive without knowing this. It's common knowledge now day. It's a shame society keeps getting sucked into all that social media stuff." Clarissa works at a travel agency. She helps people book a vacation or book a plane ticket. She's very confident in her work and loved her job. She loved helping people. "How was school?"
"Pretty boring. More people keep staring at me and it's kinda making me mad but I've been ignoring it. Oh and Chris came over today." Shes met Chris before when we were still friends. He came over to family dinners a lot and our family's always got together for Christmas.
"Chris Woods? I thought he hasn't spoken to you since freshman year?" She hangs her coat on the coat rack and sits at the table, pulling out all the bills, spreading them out so she can read each one.
"Yeah we haven't really talked since the start of high school but I forgot my purse at school and he brought it over for me and he said he's sorry for not talking to me. He said that he thought he would make everything worse. You know... Cause it was when Ben died..." I sit across from her.
"Oh yeah. Well it was nice of him to drop it off and tell you he is sorry." She suddenly stops and looks at me, placing her hand in mine. "I think we all felt like we were losing you in a way and I think he felt the same. Just don't let it hurt you. Call him over. Y'all can hang out tonight. Maybe go see a nice movie or go to dinner or something fun. It would be good for you to get out off house." She resumes her bill paying.
"Thank Claire." I get up and go back to the living room. I see my phone sitting face down on the coffee table and grab it. There's a sticky note on the screen. Its from Chris.
I didn't want to wake you so I left around 4. I saw that Clarissa wanted you to pick up dry cleaning and I did it for you. It's in the kitchen.

I take a quick shower and grab my favorite white flowy crop top and my short black skirt. I fix my makeup and hair then head down to Clarissa.
"How do I look?" I strike a pose.
"Darling, you don't even have to ask that because you look amazingly beautiful in just about everything." Not true but I'll take the compliment.
"Thanks, Claire. I'll be back soon." I kiss her cheek and grab my purse. I look in to make sure I have my phone when I realize I left it upstairs in my room. While I'm going upstairs I heard the door bell ring and ask Clarissa to answer it.
"Sure, honey." I hear them chat as I walk back down with my phone it hand. I stuff in in my purse and look at Chris. Looks like I wasn't only one who wanted to look good tonight.
"Hey, ya ready?" He pauses and looks at my outfit and smiles. "You look beautiful." He holds his arm out for me to takr as he walks me out the door. Clarissa pecks a kiss on my cheek and then closes the door behind us.
"Thanks." I blush. He opens the car door for me and gives a small bow, making me giggle. I get in and he closes the car door behind me before comes around to get in the driver seat. I have seen his SUV in the school parking lot when he arrives to school but to be honest I never thought I would be in it.
Chris pulls out of the driveway and onto the road. Heading north toward the River Banks Centre Theatre.
"So did you sleep ok?" He asks, once we're out of my neighborhood.
"Yeah I woke up at about 5 when Clarissa got home. Thanks for picking the dry cleaning up by the way. I totally forgot about it and you really didn't have to do that." I look at him. He has these cute little dimples in the corner of his mouth that makes him look adorably cute.
"It's cool. I wanted to. Plus me and Kim just broke up anyway. I needed something to do." He keeps his eyes on the road.
"Why did y'all break up?" That's weird. They were, like, really close and they have been together for what? A year and a half now? Sounds right.
"She slept with Colby." Colby has been his best friend since preschool. The three of us were like the three musketeers.
"Oh my God..." I stare at him in awestruck.
"Yeah. I went to go see her today after I left your house. I was planning on breaking it off for other reasons but I caught them together in her room. So I just broke it off right there and left." He doesn't seem very put out, to be honest.
"Oh. Wow. What were the other reasons though?" I look at him to see if he will tell me.
"Just things. I'm not really sure about them yet but I hope I'm right. I've been thinking about it for a few days though so I need a little time." He glances at me. "When I am ready I'll tell you." He reaches over and grabs my hand. "Thanks for asking to hang though. It makes things seem better. I really did miss you, Becca."
"I missed you, too." I smile. I don't mind it when he calls me Becca. He's called me that since the first day we met. I like it when he calls me that.
He squeezes my hand but keeps holding it. He doesn't let go until we get to the Movies.

Hope everyone is doing good and having a great school year or work is going good. Enjoy!
~Marissa
