Astor Campbell POV
° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° °
Rebecca has been unconscious for over eighteen hours. After she fainted, I called nine-one-one because she was still unresponsive after a few minutes of me trying to wake her. They brought in the stretcher to out her on before wheeling her out into the ambulance.
I've been in these things far too many times. First my mom, then dad, now Rebecca.
They connected her to a few tubes and wires to monitor her pulse and other things. It wasn't looking too good while I was in there. As soon as we pulled up, they ushered me into a waiting room, to my dismay, and told me they will let me know how's she's doing. Clarissa was called up to the hospital by the doctor upon arrival since I did not have her number. She's currently asleep, balled up on one of the couches in the waiting room. I tried to wake her up a few hours ago to ask if she wanted food or drink, but she's dead to world. I don't blame her, though. All of her energy was spent on pacing and crying for hours on end. I'm glad she is resting.
Me on the other hand... Even pacing doesn't wear me out. And I can't fall asleep because I'm too worried about Rebecca.
I sit down in a chair across from Clarissa and take a sip of the coffee I got an hour before. Coffee is coffee, I don't car if it's cold so long as it has sugar.
I take out my phone to see the texts from my grandma about where I am. Quickly responding, I fill her in out what happened to Rebecca and where I am. I see a few other texts but I ignore them all and put my phone back into my pocket when I see Chris come around the corner and into the waiting room. I stand up and watch as he moves towards me, never loosing eye contact.
"How is she?" He asks quietly when he stops a few feet in front of me.
"Not sure." I grumble. "The doctors haven't come to see us yet and it's been almost fourteen hours." I fold my arms across my chest before putting them in my pockets, not wanting to be rude but not knowing what to do with my hands.
"Shit. What happened?" He asks. "I heard about it from my parents and came as soon as I heard, but they didn't know much either."
"I'm not a hundred percent sure to be honest. The beach house we were in was my family's. It for destroyed in the storm yesterday and I hid with her and kept her safe. When she went to stand up..." I gaze off down the hall, not really seeing anything in front of me as I replay what happened. "The storm had stopped and she stood up before she fell back down. She said she was alright and that she just had a headache and then she looked at me... It was like she was looking through me. And she said she thought she was going to faint. And she did." I force back the tears that threaten to consume me. If I lose her though.... This girl is my world and my light and my love. If I lose her, I will lose myself...
"Has she been taking her migraine medication?" Chris looks confused and worried.
"Of course. I make sure she takes them right has they appear and before she gets sick. Dude I'm not stupid." I start to get angry. "I know how to take care of my girl. I love her and I wouldn't want anything to ever happen to her." I emphasize every word so it goes through his thick head.
"Hey man," He holds his hands up in surrender and backs up. "I wasn't saying you don't love her and that you don't care. I know you do man, I was just asking."
My shoulders slump and I give him an apologetic half smile. "Sorry, dude. I'm just stressed right now." I sigh, running my hands through my hair and rub them over my face. "It's been a long day." I sit back down and rub my temples, feeling a headache coming on. Probably from not eating or sleeping and being worried as hell.
"Hey, take a rest. Look I know we've had alot of differences but I know Rebecca and I know how much she cares about you. I'm not going to get in the way of that. I'll be here if the doctors come. Lay back and take a nap for a bit until they have word. You look like you haven't sleep in a week, brother." He sits in the chair beside me as he talks. I almost spit at him for calling me brother but something feels nice about having him here. Knowing someone who will keep an eye out if I were to shut mine for a bit.
"Thanks, man." I lounge back on the chair. It's uncomfortable at first but then my body goes numb from the position I'm in and it no longer feels weird. I hear the soft ping of my phone and see my grandmas texts that tells me she hopes Rebecca will get better and she will bring me some coffee and food in a few hours. Ah, I love my grandma. I hear Chris pull out his phone and the soft sounds of him playing Candy crush before I fall asleep.
Omg y'all, finally a POV from someone else. Got one more chapter before the epilogue and then we will start on Loveless! So I've been thinking, what would y'all say to changing the names of this book and Loveless into something else? I feel like Fearless doesn't convey this
book like I once thought it would. I've had this book for two years and it's finally almost done and I'm so proud but I feel like it's a huge step of a even bigger plot. I'll be sad to see Fearless go.
If you think I should change the name, go in the comment section and let me know some name that y'all think are cute!
Also, if anyone is is need of covers to be made for books, check out the BOOK COVERS book up on my profile to see the guidelines and how I can do things. Let me know either by a comment in the guide lines or a dm with everything I ask in the BC book and I will have it within 21 days of my response to you.
Hope you all are having a better summer than me!
PS. I'm taking a break once I'm done with here for a bit. I'm not doing well and just went through a bad breakup and it's still really hard for me. I loved him more than y'all know and I miss him with my whole heart but I know I need to let him go and that's what's the worst about it. So just pray for him and for me. He needs it more than me though.
Hope you all have a great summer.
Until next time,
-Marissa
