This is a little break from the plot, I had an idea on how Edd got Ringo and I just wanted to add it in! I hope your enjoying the story, and if you are please show your support with a star or comment. They both give me so much motivation, thank you for reading. (Art by me)
___________________________________________________________________________Edd was walking down the streets with his hood up, it was raining and he had to get home before he caught a cold. He ran in the rain, stopping as he sees a torn box threatening to tear apart at any moment. On the box was a torn and wet paper reading "Free Kittens" The box wasn't closed so whatever inside would surely be soaked. Edd's heart clenched as he looked in the box to she a soaking wet grey and black kitten crying for help. He took pity on the small creature and took off his hoodie, he picked the kitten up and bundled him in the green fabric to give it some warmth. Edd ran off to a nearby store with the kitten bundled in his hoodie.
As Edd walked to the pet isle he dried off the small kitten, who was continuously mewing and squirming around. Edd smiled warmly as he finished drying the small kitten, he walked over to the cat food, looking back down at the kitten.
"Hmm, you look pretty young so we should probably stick to wet food for now." He set the small kitten on his shoulder, the kitten purred are nuzzled against his neck, causing Edd to chuckle and pat the kit. He put his wet hoodie under his arm and grabbed a few cans of wet cat food and setting them an an empty box on the shelf. He picked up the box and kept walking down the isle, he grabbed some cat toys, treats, and a pet sized fleece blanket. As Edd continued to look through the isle he paused, setting the box down and picking up the kitten.
"I almost forgot, we need to give you a name lil' guy!" He exclaimed and he stroked the kittens head "Lets see... what could we call you?" Edd looked around himself for some inspiration. "Maybe... Niko?" The kitten stuck it's tongue and Edd chuckled. "How about Ringo?" He kitten purred and Edd pet him some more. "Yeah, Ringo. I like that name too, bud." He set his new kitten, Ringo, back onto his shoulder. "Now, lets get you a bowl and collar." Edd walked over to a shelf, grabbing a red food bowl and red cat collar. He smiled and walked up to the check-out.
"Hello sir, will this be all for you this evening? Asked a woman with long dark brown hair from behind the counter as she started scanning the items that had been placed in front of her.
"Yup, but do you engrave names into pet tags and bowls?" Edd asked, holding the purring kitten in his arms now.
"Yes," she said, grabbing the red collar and bowl. "What would your kittens name be then?" she asked sweetly.
"Ringo, that's R-I-N-G-O." The woman's small smile widened slightly, I'll get right on that. I will be back in a few moments." With that she walked into a back room, leaving the store almost empty. Edd looked outside at the rain pouring down and back to Ringo.
"I guess I'll have to bundle you up, huh lil' guy?" Ringo purred in response, rubbing his face into his new owners chest. After a few minutes of waiting the woman came back and continues scanning the items, putting them in a bag. Edd gave the woman his money and took the fleece pet blanket out of the bag, wrapping Ringo in it. Edd put on his wet hoodie and held the bundle of blankets around his new kitten close to his chest. He grabbed the bag with everything that he has bought and ran back to is house. Edd walked inside his house, closing the door behind himself. He noted that he was dripping wet and should take off some wet clothes to avoid trailing water through the house.
"Edd!" His Norwegian friend walked up to him. "You made me worry, you could've caught a cold out there!" He scolded.
"Ah, sorry I just couldn't leave this little guy outside in this weather." Edd took the blanket off of Ringo's head, Edd smiled at the fact that his little kitten was perfectly dry.
"Eh, a kitten?"
"Yup, I found him in a box and named him Ringo!"
"Well," Tord shrugs, "It's your house."
"Hold Ringo for a second?"
"Oh, Edd I-" But Edd was already handing the bundle of blankets to Tord, he took it from Edd but turned around, handing it to Tom, who had just entered the room.
"What is this?" Tom asked as he took the bundle from Tord.
"Edd's cat, I don't like animals." Tord said as he left to go back to his own room. Edd took off his shoes and soaking hoodie. Tom held the bundled up kitten to his face with a smile, he'd always liked animals, especially cats.
"Aww.." Tom cooed as the kitten licked his nose. "You didn't tell me you were getting a kitten." Edd smiled, liking this new side of Tom.
"I didn't plan on it, but I found him in a box not long ago, I couldn't just leave him like that." Tom sits with his legs crossed on the floor and Edd follows him, sitting in front of him with the bag of cat items. Tom unwrapped the kitten, setting him on his lap and ran a hand down his back, making Ringo purr
"What's the little guys name?"
"I named him Ringo, here" he hands Tom a red cat color with a shiny gold tag, with the name "RINGO" neatly engraved into it. Tom grabs the collar and puts it around the kittens small neck. Ringo rolled onto his back, pawing at the shiny tag. The two sat on the floor talking to each other and playing with their new pet. Though in the back of Tom's mind, lurked the question. Does the black feather belong to Edd?
