Chapter 2

"miss miss"

I heard the voice calling from a distance. The next thing I heard was a panicked voice saying "SOMEONE CALL 911" I heard lots of different voices around me but I couldn't see them. I tried to move but couldn't which really freaked me out until I heard the wailing of sirens growing closer and louder as they approached.

The next thing I know hands all over me. one was near my arm inserting a needle another was near my neck strapping something around it another set of hands was at my side rolling me on my side and then back on my back.

I was trying to stay calm but things got more complicated. I started to have difficulties breathing which made things all the more complicated. I then heard a voice over the rest of the others saying "I AM LOSING HER. HER AIRWAY IS COMPROMISED!!! I felt a stinging sensation in my arm and then a terrible feeling of overwhelming drowsiness. I slowly started to slip away from reality and was vaguely aware of what was going on. I was able to open my eyes for a brief second and met face to face with a cute face and then everything went black.

When I woke up from my sleepy state i began to choke. There was a tube in my mouth and I was freaking out because I was gaging so much I was having trouble trying to catch my breathe. I heard a loud beep beep beep coming from the room I was in and a nurse ran in watching me struggle between gaging coughing and trying to breathe on my own. The nurse came over and said "miss I need you to calm down if you want this to come out." I nodded my headed but was still gaging and coughing. she unhooked the top part and gently pulled the tube out.

As soon as the tube was out I laid back against the nice cushy pillows realizing that I was in a great amount of pain. The nurse looked at me and recognized the pain on my face and said "your in pain aren't you?" I nodded back to her. She rushed out the door to go and find some pain killers for me or at least I hoped that is what she ran off to do.

I surveyed the room I was in and then looked at my bruised and battered body. My leg was in a nice big air splint. Besides that my head was throbbing and I had a bunch of wires on me and I was in alot of pain. I didn't know what other injuries I had sustained from being hit by a car, but I could only imagine based off the feeling of being run over by a train, well more accurately put run over by a car.

I was interrupted from my thoughts when I heard a knock at the door. A man in a white lab coat came in and introduced himself as Doctor Anderson. "So how are you doing miss...." Reynolds I replied. Well Doctor I am in alot of pain as you might guess." Well Miss Reynolds you have a broken leg to be more specific your tibia and fibula are broken and we are going to need to do surgery to put the bones back in the correct place and stabilize them. Other than that you are in pretty good shape besides the concussion and internal trauma as well as some nice bruises. I will go ahead and have the nurse keep you on a morphine drip to help with the pain and then we will go ahead and schedule your Operation for tomorrow morning at 8' o clock that way by the time we are done and you are out of the anesthesia you will be ready for lunch." I thanked the Doctor as he walked out and then he sent in the nurse with the morphine drip and some food.

As I was eating my food I heard yet another knock at the door and said come in. A skinny young man with sandy blonde hair walked in with a bouquet of roses and said are you miss reynolds?

umm yes I am replied. "These are for you." Oh I said with a certain amount of shock in my voice. "Where shall I put them?" Umm you can set them right there. I pointed to a night stand right next to my bed. The young man left and I was so curious as to who sent the roses. I reached over to the bouquet slowly so that I won't hurt my self any further and grabbed the card from the roses.

The card read "Hope you are feeling better it is never fun being hit by a car, but being saved by me is pretty cool." I thought back to the terrible accident and realized that these flowers were from the man who I met face to face with for only a few seconds before I went unconscious.

I thought to myself wow what a wonderful present..... maybe somebody actually cares about me. I didn't think that is was possible to really be noticed by any one but my friends but this was proof that it was possible to be noticed

I let myself ponder on that thought for while until I gave into a drowsiness that I could no longer fight.

I was aroused several times during the night from my peaceful sleep by several different nurses who took my vitals gave me more morphine and checked out my concussion.

When I was awoken for the final time it was around 7 am and the nurses were prepping me for surgery. They inserted medicines in my iv that stung for a while. Doctor Anderson walked in briefed me on what was going to happen and left to go scrub up. After my hair was pinned up and in a hair net and all my jewelry was taken off they unlocked the wheels on my bed and rolled me down the hallway to an elevator. When the doors to the elevator opened I felt my eyes begin to get droopy. I was wheeled down yet another hallway and through a set of big double doors. By now it was getting colder and I knew I was getting closer to the operating room. Things began to get a little fuzzy at this point but before I knew it I was in the operating room. I was welcomed by many different faces most of which I had never seen before. They pulled my bed up beside another one but this one was much simpler. They asked me if I could move over to the other. I gave it a shot but was met with a Seering pain and was at this point feeling quite weak and sleepy. The doctor had some people help me over to the table and positioned my head onto a pillow like thing that would cradle my head while I under went the operation. Once I was settled on the bed things began to get a little tipsy for me things around me started to fade off in a distance and I just nodded off into a deep sleep.

                        ~5 hours later~
I woke up in a large room with a young man sitting at the edge of my bed with a computer next to him. I tried to sit up a bit straighter but winced in pain when I moved my leg. The wince caught the mans attention. He got up out of his chair and asked how bad the pain was on a scale of 1 to 10. I replied it is about a 7 he grabbed a syringe full of medicine screwed it on to my iv and pushed the meds through. After a about 30 minutes I was moved to my room and kept overnight for observation.

The next morning I was visited by my friends and given more flowers. They stayed and chatted with me for a while but had to leave when I was rolled away on a wheel chair to get rid of my temporary cast and get a new one.

I was wheeled down to the third floor and into a private room where I was outfitted with a custom cast. It was completely turquoise with the exception of the beginning and end it had a single black strand. I thought it looked pretty cool and gave a little bit of a contrast.

(Like thise except with some black at the top and bottom)

I was wheeled back to my room with fresh clothes and was discharged from the hospital with a wheel chair and crutches for home and a special memory foam pillow to support my leg.
