Chapter 3

When Bruce and Alfred got away from the warehouse, Alfred instantly started looking over Bruce's wound, which was hard to examine in the dark. He gently grabbed his arm and lifted up the sleeve which was stained with blood. Bruce winced a little at the contact.

"I don't think it's infected but it'll need stitches." Alfred said. Bruce nodded and looked at his arm. "Did they hurt you anywhere else?" Alfred asked worriedly. This whole situation was insane and they'd definitely be telling the authorities, but right now Bruce was his priority.

"Only a scratch on my chin but other than that, nothing happened." Bruce replied. He was still a little shaken up about what happened but he knew they had more important things to do.

"We need to get you to the hospital to stitch up your arm and then we'll go to the GCPD to tell them what happened." Alfred said, walking towards the alley where his car was parked.

"What? No, we need to go to the police first! My arm isn't even bleeding anymore." Bruce countered. The police needed to start investigating this case. Bruce also wanted to know about what happened to the two guys he got arrested a week ago. They had to have known something about the woman who attacked him or whatever they had been planning.

"Master Bruce, we can't risk your arm getting infected. The police aren't going anywhere, we can report to them right after." Alfred argued. Bruce was a very stubborn kid so he hoped that the argument wouldn't continue. To Alfred's satisfaction, Bruce reluctantly nodded.

The two finally got into the car and Alfred started driving. There was an uncomfortable silence, so Alfred tried to fill it. He looked over at Bruce, who was looking out the window.

"What did she say to you? Before I got there." Alfred asked. Though he was only talking to make conversation, it was important to know this.

"She's connected to the two men I found. I think she's their boss or something." Bruce explained, looking back at Alfred. "And we didn't stop her. She's probably out of that warehouse by now." Bruce continued quietly.

"We couldn't have done anything, she was too dangerous. It's more important to get out of there alive." Alfred said, taking glances at Bruce but mostly keeping his eyes on the road. He could hear Bruce sigh and shift in his seat, most likely to look out the window again.

"We're here." Alfred said, pulling into the Urgent Care parking lot. The two got out and walked into the building. They signed Bruce in and told the woman at the desk his injury. The wait was about 20 minutes but the two didn't complain.

Bruce and Alfred walked into the doctor's office and Bruce sat down on the bed while Alfred stood next to him. A few minutes later and the doctor walked in. She smiled at Bruce and shook both their hands.

"Hi, I'm Doctor Jones. You must be Bruce." She said kindly. Bruce only nodded in response. She started moving back his sleeve to get a better look at the gash.

"I heard you cut your arm up? So what happened?" She asked, inspecting his arm and pressing different places. Bruce looked over to Alfred, not knowing what to say.

"I was cooking dinner. I was cutting up something and didn't hear him come in. When I turned around I accidentally cut him." Alfred lied. Telling her the actual story would take too much explaining and it was something police needed to hear, not her. She most likely wouldn't believe it either.

"Oh my, well lucky enough the cut is pretty clean so it'll be easy to fix up. You'll need some stitches but it won't hurt too much, I promise." She explained, her kind smile never leaving her face. It comforted Bruce a little bit.

After she stitched up Bruce's arm, she talked to Alfred about when they'd need to take them out and how to keep them from getting infected. She left the room and about 10 minutes later, a nurse walked in and gave Alfred paperwork to fill out. 10 more minutes later and Bruce and Alfred were finally leaving the building. By now it was a little past midnight. They got in the car again and started driving towards GCPD. The ride was mostly silent.

When they reached the building, Bruce was the first out of the car and inside. When Alfred got inside, he had to look around a bit to find Bruce since the place was pretty crowded. When he found him, he saw him talking to one of the officers inside. Alfred caught up to him and heard the last piece of information the man was telling Bruce.

"-you'll need to talk to the commissioner, he's in his office right now." The man said, pointing towards a room towards the back. Bruce mumbled a thank you and headed off in that direction. Alfred followed.

Bruce waited for Alfred to catch up and then knocked on the door. He heard a 'come in' and opened the door. Sitting behind a big desk was none other than Commissioner Jim Gordon.

"Ah Bruce, what're you doing here?" Jim asked. He'd met Bruce on multiple occasions after taking up the case of his parent's murder. He gestured for Bruce and Alfred to sit down in the two chairs in front of the desk. They did.

"People are after me." Bruce stated. Jim gave him a look to keep going. "The two men I caught a week ago, they're part of some organization and now they're after me because I got them arrested." Bruce finished.

"Are you sure it's connected?" Jim questioned. Bruce nodded hastily. Jim was slightly convinced but he needed more evidence. Bruce was a smart kid and Jim knew that. He knew that he wouldn't make something up like this as a joke, especially since Alfred was here.

"I was kidnapped when I was walking out of school. I woke up in a warehouse tied up. Their boss or something started questioning me and mentioned the two guys. She started talking about how I was getting in their business and to tell her what I knew." Bruce explained the whole encounter, even the part about how they got away. Jim listened intently the whole time, writing some things down.

"Alright, we'll start investigating, I suggest you go back to the manor and keep safe there. I'll make sure to come and check up on you every once in awhile." Jim said, standing up and grabbing some paper. He was about to leave the room when Bruce stopped him.

"Wait! I want to talk to the two men." Bruce said suddenly, turning around in his chair to look at Jim. Jim turned to face him and gave him a weird look.

"Bruce, I can't let you do that." Jim replied. He couldn't let a kid just interview two very dangerous murderers. They still had rules at the GCPD.

"Please, I can get information out of them that you can't." Bruce said, determined to interview those men.

"And why is that?" Jim questioned. He looked skeptically at Bruce, not knowing where he was going with this.

"They know I've seen their boss. Whether they taunt me or threaten me, they'll tell me something nonetheless. They won't tell you a thing because you know nothing about what's happening. Either that or they'll tell you something that isn't important and you wouldn't know." Bruce explained. Jim thought about it for a moment then, ran a tired hand down his face.

"Fine, you can talk to them." Jim replied, feeling defeated. What could he say, the kid was persuasive. Bruce smiled and looked over at Alfred who didn't look very willing.

"But," Jim started, pointing a finger at Bruce. "you can only talk to one of them and only for 10 minutes." Jim compromised. Bruce nodded. It was better than nothing.

"I'll set up the interrogation room." Jim said, walking out of the room. Bruce turned to Alfred, who was feeling slightly better with the requirements Jim set but still didn't like the idea.

"Are you sure you want to do that Master Bruce?" Alfred asked.

"Of course, Alfred. This is the best way to get information from them." Bruce said. He didn't really understand why it was this big of a deal. Of course Alfred and Jim would be watching the whole thing and would interfere if the conversation got out of hand. A couple minutes passed and Jim came back in saying they could start the interrogation.

Bruce and Alfred stepped out of the room and followed Jim down a hallway and to a door. Jim opened the door and Bruce walked in, seeing on of the men handcuffed sitting at a single table in the middle of the room. Jim closed the door behind him and Bruce sat down in front of the man he recognized as Alex.

"I've gotta be honest kid, I'm surprised you're here. If I were you I'd be hiding somewhere behind 10 bodyguards." Alex said, a smirk lying on his face.

"Why are people after me." Bruce asked bluntly. He didn't want aimless chitchat with this guy.

"Straight to the point are we?" Alex started, chuckling a bit. "You know too much."

"I hardly know anything." Bruce countered. The man looked slyly at him but disregarded his sentence.

"I'm sure you've met Bloodsucker already." Alex said. Bruce assumed it was the woman he talked to back at the warehouse. The man leaned in towards Bruce's face, looking right into his eyes.

"She would have killed you if she wanted. You're here for a reason." He said, just above a whisper. He leaned back in his chair and Bruce was about to say something else when Jim bust through the door.

"Times up, Kid." He said, pointing his thumb behind his shoulder towards the door. Bruce looked at him pleadingly.

"Mr. Gordon, please, just a couple more minutes." Bruce asked. He was getting somewhere and he only had a couple more questions.

"I said 10 minutes." Jim said, not faltering. Bruce reluctantly stood up and walked out of the room. He met Alfred who was looking through the 2-way glass. He didn't have to tell him what the man said to him because he could hear the whole thing, except the part he whispered to him. When asked about it, Bruce wouldn't tell him.

After talking to Jim a little bit more after Alex was put back in a cell, Bruce and Alfred drove back to the manor.
