Tim Drake
I don't want to love this song, but I do. A lot.
Tim's POV
I shivered. My thin sweater had not prepared me for winter in Gotham, but I hadn't had much time. I pretty much just grabbed the first thing that came to hand, which was this.
Bane came in talking about something to my parents, who were in league with pretty much every super villain in Gotham. I heard voices, and then muffled screams and a snapping sound. I peeked around the corner and saw my parents limp bodies. I turned, grabbed the first thing off the coat rack, and ran out of the house.
I saw a big building up ahead and ran towards it. A pair of big doors loomed out of the dark. I knocked as loudly as I could, which wasn't very loudly considering how cold I was and the fact I was only 8 years old. Tears were running down my face. My parents weren't good people, but I loved them. The doors opened, and an old man came out. He looked like a butler.
"C-call the p-police." I stuttered "Th-there's been a murder."
" Good heavens!" the old man exclaimed "Where?" I told him the address. He pulled me into the house and shut the door. he walked away, probably to call the police. I stood there, shivering. the house was dark. Of course, I thought, it's like, 3 in the morning. Wait, why is he up at 3 a.m.? The butler came back and told me that the police would be there soon, and did I know who had died and who had killed them. I told him yes, my parents, Jackson and Janet Drake and Bane had killed them. After giving this information to the police, the man hung up and just stared at me.
"Do you need somewhere to sleep?" he asked kindly. I nodded. He led me up a flight of stairs and down a hallway. We stopped in front of a room. He opened the door and walked inside. I followed him and my eyes widened. The room was HUGE! The bed was as big as two of my beds.
"This room is fully stocked with blankets and different types of pillows for your comfort. Fresh sheets are on the bed, as well as a blanket, but there are more in the closet. There are some clothes in the dresser that might be to big for you, but at least they aren't dirty." the man said. I nodded and he left. I undressed and looked around for somewhere to put my clothes. I settled for on top of the dresser. Normally I would have folded them, but that would have taken time, and I was very cold. I dumped them on there and crawled into bed. It was the softest thing that I had ever felt. I thought that I would never fall asleep, but I found myself drifting off, and soon I was fast asleep.
I woke up and found myself in an unfamiliar place. I panicked and sat upright. Then, all the memories from last night came rushing back and i fell back into the soft pillows, tears beginning to fill my eyes. I wiped them away and looked in the dresser to find some clothes. I put on a too big Gryffindor shirt and a pair of pants, luckily I found a belt and rolled up the cuffs. I walked out and tried to remember the path from last night. I finally found the stairs and walked down them. I could hear voices coming from one of the rooms. I tried to find where they were coming from. I stumbled into what looked like a dining room. It had a really long table, and at the table were three kids who were talking and laughing, and an adult who was sitting there reading his newspaper. Suddenly, the talking stopped. I noticed that everyone was staring at me.
"Why is there a child in our dining room?" the girl asked.
"And why is he wearing Wally's clothes?" the oldest looking boy interjected, frowning. The man lowered his newspaper and I gasped. Bruce Wayne? I wondered. The other boy rolled his eyes.
"We all know about your crush on Wally, and I'm sure that he would appreciate you protecting his honor, but let's prioritize. Why's there a kid in our house?!" he exclaimed. The butler from last night walked in.
"His witnessed his parent's murder last night. He came to the mansion to report it to the police. I gave him a room for the night." He stated calmly.
"Alfred. Next time you do that, wake me up. I don't care if it's two am, wake me up. And what were you doing up?" Mr. Wayne said. Well, now I know his name, I thought.
"I was doing some midnight cleaning. I do it quite often. Since the boys are asleep it makes it much easier." Alfred responded. Oh, that's why he was awake. I looked over and noticed that the kids were having their own conversation. The girl slipped out and came back in a few minutes later holding some sheets of paper. She walked up to Mr. Wayne and waited for him to stop talking to Alfred. She turned slightly to face me and winked, then turned back. My brows furrowed. Why did she wink at me?
"Yes, Katherine?" Mr. Wayne said. The girl, Katherine, sighed.
"I told you not to call me Katherine! It's just Kate. And I have a present for you. Well, technically, all of us got it for you. We carefully considered this subject and have reached a consensus." She handed him the papers. He studied them and looked up at her with a confused expression.
"You want me to adopt him?" he asked. I choked and stared at her.
" We want you to adopt him." she corrected.
"How did you get this?" Kate smiled and said
"We're good friends with the adoption agency, that will happen after adopting three children." She turned towards me and asked
"What's your full name?"
"Timothy Jackson Drake." I responded. She turned away from me and scribbled something on one of the sheets. She kept asking me things like my birthdate, social security number(I didn't know the answer to that one), place of birth, race, etc. I answered as best as I could, but I didn't know all the answers. Kate finished filling out the forms and handed them to Mr. Wayne, grinning.
"There, you see? All done! That was simple, wasn't it?" she said. Mr. Wayne shook his head and sighed.
"What about his next of kin?" he asked. She shrugged slightly.
"He didn't have any. They're all dead. Al you have to do is sign here and give it to the agency." He grabbed the pen and signed on the bottom of one of the sheets. I was shocked. I mean I hadn't been in the house 12 hours and I was already being adopted. Kate tuned to me. She smiled even wider.
" Welcome to the family."
