It was morning in the Hidden Leaf Village, the sun was shining bright and the birds were chirping. Kasai Suzaku sat up in her bed, gazing out her window half asleep.

"Morning already?" She asked herself then looking at the calendar, which was marked that today was the day she became a genin. "Ah! It's today!" She cheers, waking up instantly, hopping out of bed.

She unwrapped her bandaged eye then quickly took a shower. After leaving the shower, she dried herself off and wrapped a towel around her body. She took her time wrapping herself then hesitantly looked up in the mirror. Her long brown hair went all the way down to her lower back and her somewhat bangs mostly covered her left eye. She sighed then lifted her bangs, revealing her left closed eye.

"Ok...nice and slowly." She said to herself as she got out some bandages and began wrapping her left eye with it.

After she finished she brushed her teeth and her hair before exiting out of the bathroom. She put on her new and favorite outfit. She wore a red kind of cover up that covered her chest then split above her belly button and down. The bottom of the red cover up was split into 11 strands like someone cut it that way. Then she wore black spandex underneath.

"Alright! Kasai Suzaku, you are ready to go!" She cheered to herself.

Sakura was up and dressed. She stood in front of her mirror humming while putting on her ninja headband on top of her head like an actual headband. She smiled then checked herself out, letting out a giggle.

"What are you doing, Sakura-chan?" Kasai asked, squatting on her window sill, Sakura jumped, sweating.

"Kasai! Don't scare me like that! You almost gave me a heart attack." Sakura faced her best friend, sweating with fear.

"Hehe. I'm sorry I'm sorry!" Kasai smiled jumping on her bed.

Sakura sighed and faced the mirror to fix her hair, then twirled toward the brunette with a smile.

"So, how do I look?" she asked.

"Like Sakura-chan!" She said with a smile, Sakura sweatdropped.

"Why do I even bother? Every time I ask you that, you say the same exact thing." she cried anime tears, while Kasai stared at her dumbfounded.

"Sakura! Isnt it time for you to get going?" Mrs. Haruno called from downstairs.

"I know, im on my way out now!" Sakura replied looking ticked off. "Lets go Kasai." she said walking towards her bedroom window.

"OK!" The cheery brunette replied with a smile, following behind.

The two friends made their way towards the academy. Kasai hummed to herself, happy as can be while Sakura walked beside her in a daze.

"So, Kasai and I aren't students of the academy anymore. I'm Sakura Haruno, Kunoichi in training." Sakura thought to herself, clutching her fist.

"I wonder who will be on my team. I really hope I'm on the same team as Sakura or Shika-kun!" Kasai thought to herself giggling.

Then Sakura stopped in her tracks which caused Kasai to bump into her. She looked over at her friend with a confused look.

"Sakura-chan, what's wrong?" Kasai asked her, a hint of hate in her eyes.

Kasai followed her gaze to find her glaring face to face with Ino Yamanaka, her arch rival.

"Ah, good morning Ino-chan!" Kasai greeted with a smile.

"Good morning Kasai-chan!" Ino replied with a smile then turned her attention to Sakura. "Good morning Sakura..." she smirked.

"Good morning Ino." Sakura huffed then continued towards the academy, Kasai followed behind.

Ino walked by her side, then Kasai decided to stay back because she had a feeling that things were about to get ugly.

"So they actually let YOU graduate, what a surprise." Ino mocked.

"Those classes are ancient history, we're both ninja now and we're both equal." Sakura scowled. "I wont lose to you any more!" Sakura declared, walking in ahead of Ino.

Ino then caught up to her and marched by her side, but Sakura once again marched ahead as Ino did the same thing. Both of them growled at each other as they were both convinced that it was a race to them. Kasai sweat dropped with a nervous grin, jogging to catch up to the menacing genin ninjas.

{at the academy}

Naruto was sitting in his classroom along with his classmates, grinning from ear to ear, giggling like a witch. He was so caught up in his own world that he didn't notice one of his classmates, Shikamaru, was walking by him. Shikamaru noticed Naruto and came to stop with a surprised look on his face.

"What are you doing here Naruto? This isn't for drop outs, you cant be here until you graduate." Shikamaru noted.

"Oh yeah, do you see this? Open your eyes Shikamaru, its a regulation headband." Naruto smirked, pointing at his ninja headband with his thumb. "We're going to be training together, how do you like that?" he added with a big grin on his face.

Shikamaru scoffed.

"Let me put it to you this way, I look great in this head gear like it was made for me, Believe It!" Naruto laughed, not noticing that Hinata Hyuga was blushing at him with a smile on her face.

"Naruto! You graduated here after all! I'm glad!" Hinata thought to herself with a cute smile on her face.

"Sakura! Ino! Wait for me!" Hinata heard Kasai shout from outside the classroom.

Then both Sakura and Ino burst through the doors at the same time, spreading their arms out in front of each others faces.

"I'M FIRST!!!" they both shout, then slumped over, catching their breaths.

"I win again, Sakura!" Ino smirked.

"Give it up! I had to look back to see you, my toe was at least a tenth of an inch ahead--!!" Sakura shot back, when her best friend came clobbering in falling right on top of both her and Ino.

Mostly everyone in class laughed at the three girls.

"Owie owie!" Kasai whined, then noticed that she was on top of her friends. "Gah! I'm so sorry!" She shot up to her feet and waved her arms in panic.

Sakura and Ino were on the floor, knocked out, their eyes in the shape of swirls. Then they both came back to and stood up, glaring at the brunette.

"Kasai! What do you think you're doing?!" Sakura scolded.

"Yeah! You completely humiliated us!" Ino added, crossing her arms over her chest.

"Uh..." Kasai began then looked at her feet in shame. "I'm sorry..." she apologized, looking like a child being scolded.

Sakura sighed and tossed her pink hair over her shoulder.

"Jeez. You need to be more careful next time." Sakura said.

"Ok..." Kasai muttered, sighing that she made her friend mad.

Naruto heard all the ruckus and turned around to see you, Sakura, and Ino. He blushed when he had his eyes on Sakura.

"Sa~ku~ra..." Naruto said to himself, staring at his crush.

Sakura turned around, looking around the classroom then spotted something that made her perk up a smile.

Kasai looked up as well and noticed her darling Shikamaru standing by Naruto looking so cool with his hands in his pockets. She zoomed past Sakura and Ino towards her crush since forever and jumped him.

"Shika-kun good morning!!!" Kasai squealed.

Shikamaru jumped, looking freaked out.

"Gah! Suzaku! Let go of me!" Shikamaru struggled free from her koala hug, putting both hands on her shoulders.

"What's the matter Shika-kun?" Kasai asked.

"How many times have I told you that I don't like hugs." Shikamaru groaned. "Especially your hugs." He muttered under his breath.

"Aw Shika-kun you're just embarrassed! That's so cute!" Kasai giggled then bear hugged his arm. "Lets sit together ok?" She said, dragging him away from Naruto.

"Ugh! Why do I even bother." Shikamaru sighs, allowing this girl to pull him away.

"Hi Sakura what's up?" Naruto began only to be pushed out of the way.

"Uh...good morning Sasuke." Sakura greeted, blushing.

Sasuke looked her way not saying anything.

"Mind if I sit next to you?" Sakura asked when Ino grabbed her arm.

"Back off, Forehead! I'm sitting next to Sasuke!" Ino shouts.

"I was here first!" Sakura scowled.

"I walked into the classroom before you did. Everybody saw it!" Ino argued, then a swarm of girls emerged in the class fighting over who was in class first and who should sit next to Sasuke.

Sasuke groaned and ignored them.

"Clueless." Sasuke thought to himself.

{in the Hokage's office}

Sasuke was appearing in a crystal ball which was surrounded by Jonin Shinobi's.

"The most promising new student, Sasuke Uchiha." said one of the Jonin.

"Uchiha? Is that him?" asked another.

"Yes, he's the one." the Hokage announced.

"He's the only survivor left in the Uchiha clan." a female Jonin added.

"That's right." the Hokage replied, as the image in the crystal ball suddenly moved over to Naruto, who thrown against a desk.

"Naruto Uzumaki, huh?" one of the Jonin spoke to himself.

Then the crystal ball moved to you talking to Shikamaru with a big smile on your face.

"You know, I'm surprised that that girl managed to graduate from the academy." the female jonin spoke.

"What do you mean?" another jonin asked.

"What I mean is I'm impressed that that girl who knew so little about being a ninja is graduating from this academy, and we still don't even know what clan she came from or who her family is." the female explained.

"Is that so... and who is this child?" the Hokage asked, looking at you through the crystal ball.

"Her name is Suzaku Kasai, sir." The female answered.

"Suzaku? There's no family named Suzaku." A male voice commented.

"I know there isnt. I was going to give her my last name but she refused. She wanted her last name to be Suzaku. So I let her be named Suzaku Kasai." She explained.

"But she lives with you right?" Another asked.

"Of course she does. I'm not going to abandoned her out on the streets." She replied a little offended.

The Hokage looked from the people back to the crystal ball and gazed at brunette with the bandaged left eye and thought deeply.

{outside the Hokage's office}

A male jonin with silver hair and a mask covering his face walking down the hall with a female jonin with wavy brown hair and a tight pink dress wrapped with bandages.

"Kurenai." the silver haired ninja spoke.

"Yes, Kakashi?" Kurenai said looking his way.

"That night...was the night when you found her right?" Kakashi asked.

"Ah, yeah. I remember that night like it was yesterday...I could never forget that night." Kurenai said her eyes gone soft. "I remember how I found her unconscious by the village gate. She was only a child back then. I had no idea what happened to that girl but it did some physical and mental damage to her. Just by looking into her empty blue eyes showed so much pain and sorrow. It was like her soul was ripped out of her." Kurenai explained clutching her fists.

"Well by now you should have had her give some of her blood to see who her parents were, right?" Kakashi mentioned, which cause Kurenai to stop in her tracks.

"We already tried that..." she replied.

"Tried?" Kakashi asked.

"Once we brought her to the infirmary to draw her blood, her doll-like state went into that of a wild animal." Kurenai began to tremble. "She took out mostly all of the doctors in a matter of a few seconds. At first I didn't know what was going on but when I came into her room, I saw ten nearly dead bodies on the floor." Kurenai said, Kakashi's eyes grew wide. "I'll never forget when I saw her crouched up in the corner of the infirmary, trembling like a leaf." she added. "But what really got me thinking was what she was saying to herself...'You cant take my blood...'." she finished.

"What the hell?" Kakashi commented, lost at words.

"Yes, it did take her a couple of years to feel comfortable here in the village. She was always alone, never played with the other children. But after meeting the Haruno's daughter, that girl was like a flower bud at full bloom. She never left Sakura's side for any reason. It was cute~! She was like a lost puppy following their owner." Kurenai smiled at Kakashi.

"Well, thats good to hear." Kakashi grinned under his mask, then went deep into thought. "But what the hell was that girl's deal?" he thought to himself.

Kasai hung out with Shikamaru while Sakura was fighting her female classmates over the Uchiha.

The person Shikamaru was talking to was getting a little uncomfortable with the way the brunette was cuddling with the Nara boy's arm while trying to have a decent conversation.

"Hey Shikamaru, are you two dating?" The boy said looking at Kasai's arms wrapped around Shikamaru's arm.

"Uh huh! We're in love!" Kasai answered when Shikamaru's veins popped.

"We are not." Shikamaru growled. "Could you seriously get off of me, you're being such a drag." He yanked his arm away, accidently bumping it into Naruto who was facing Sasuke on the desk, knocking him over.

"Oh sorr--" Shikamaru began then realized what he did.

Kasai looked back as well and boy she was surprised at what she was seeing. Naruto and Sasuke mouth to mouth.

"What the--" Sakura began.

"Uh--" Ino commented.

Everybody in the classroom saw what was happening and were wowed. But then Kasai felt a strange sense of danger after Naruto and Sasuke broke the kiss. Naruto turned to see Sakura, Ino, and the rest of the girls giving Naruto death glares, cracking their knuckles.

"Naruto..." Sakura growled, Naruto jolted.

"Sakura, it was an accident!" Naruto waved his hands in front of him.

"You are so toast!" Sakura said, cracking her knuckles.

Naruto trembled in fear as the shadows loomed over him then ended up with bumps on his head and a black eye.

Sakura then got her way and sat next to "Sasuke" looking as happy as can be while Kasai sat next to Shikamaru, and in front of Naruto. She turned over her shoulder to look at the beaten up boy and giggled. Naruto noticed the brunette giggling and him so he groaned and slammed his head on his desk in shame. Ino didnt get a chance to sit by Sasuke so she sat behind him. The classroom door slid open revealing Iruka-sensei entering and stood before the whole class.

"Alright class, as of today you are all ninjas. Together you faced difficult trials and hardships. But that's nothing, what comes next will become far more difficult. Now you are only genin, 1st leveled ninjas. All genin will be grouped into a three man squad. Each squad will be lead by a jonin, an elite ninja." He announced to the class, catching yours and everyone's else's attention.

"A three man squad?" Kasai repeated in her head.

"Well someone's gotta be in Sasuke's group. I wonder who." Ino spoke up, with a smirk.

"I don't know." Sakura replied, glaring at her rival from the corner of her eye.

"CHA!! I'M GOING TO BE WITH SASUKE SO STAY AWAY FROM HIM YOU LITTLE HAG!!" Inner Sakura shouts.

"Groups of 3...that will only slow me down." Sasuke thought.

"I wanna be in a group with Sakura but...I don't care. As long as it's not grouped with Sasuke." Naruto thought to himself.

"I want 3 squads to have the balance of strength and nobility. So that's how we set them up." Iruka added, then looked at his clipboard. "Ok, I will now announce the squads." He proclaimed as he set up the squads.

Time went past as he finished setting up the 6 three man squads and moved on to squad 7.

"Squad 7. Naruto Uzumaki..." he spoke catching Naruto's attention. "...Sakura Haruno..." Naruto cheered while Sakura hung her head in shame. "...Sasuke Uchiha..." Now Sakura cheered and Naruto sulked.

"Eh? I'm not in the same squad as Sakura?" You muttered with sadness.

"...and Kasai Suzaku." Iruka added, causing the brunette to jump with joy since she was now on the same squad as her best friend.

But hearing that there was 4 students in one squad caught everybody's attention. But Kasai didn't care, she were just so happy to be with Sakura.

"Next, Squad 8. Hinata Hyuga, Kiba Inuzuka, and Shino Aburama." Iruka assigned.

Sakura turned around toward Ino and stuck two fingers out. A huge smile on her smile.

"Grr how did you get in his group?!" Ino growled, her veins popping.

"Cha-Ching! True love conquers all!" Inner Sakura cheered.

Ino kept growling at Sakura while Shikamaru sighed.

"I don't get it. What do you see in a guy like that? He's not so special." Shikamaru commented.

"You are so being clueless, Shikamaru. Don't you get it?" Ino said, looking at the pineapple haired boy that was sitting next to her.

"No I don't get it caused I'm not a girl." Shikamaru replied.

"You are so full of yourself." Ino sighed. "Jealousy is a terrible thing. I'd hate to be on your squad." She added.

"Now squad 10. Ino Yamanaka, Shikamaru Nara..." Iruka read.

"Heh, did you say something about hating to be on my squad?" Shikamaru teased Ino with a crooked smile.

"...And Choji Akimichi." Iruka finished.

"Ugh! Not food boy too!" Ino shouts in her mind.

"Those are all the squads." Iruka proclaimed.

"Iruka sensei! Why does a great ninja like me, have to be in the same group with a slug like Sasuke!" Naruto stood up from his seat, pointing at Sasuke.

"Sasuke had the best scores out of all the graduating students. Naruto you had the worst scores." Iruka explained, placing his hands on his hips. "To create the balance of the group, we put the best student with the worst student." He added, the whole class laughing.

Naruto growled with frustration when he pointed at Kasai.

"Then how come we have an extra team member?!" Naruto pointed out.

"Kasai had the same score as Sasuke and our class is uneven so I placed her in your group." Iruka explained, Kasai blushed with embarrassment as everyone stared at her.

"Just make sure neither of you don't get in my way, loser." Sasuke spoke.

"What did you say?!" Naruto shouts.

"Hard at hearing?" Sasuke teased.

"I wasn't planning on getting in your way, Sasuke." Kasai turned to look at Sasuke and smiled innocently.

Naruto growled at Sasuke.

"Not it off! Sit down!" Sakura growled.

"Ahum, after lunch you'll meet your Jounin teachers. Until then, class dismissed!" Iruka announced.

Kasai sighed then slumped down in her seat after hearing that her crush was on a team with one of the most pretty girls in the class.

"Shika-kun..." Kasai sniffed.

Shikamaru looked next to him and then sweatdropped at Kasai's anime teary face.

"Even though we aren't on the same team, please don't fall for Ino!" Kasai added, tears rolling down her face.

"And why would I fall for that girl?" Shikamaru sighed at the girl's behavior, when she suddenly took his hands in hers and held them close to her.

"Just promise me!" Kasai gave him a desperate look.

"What a drag." He sighed again. "Alright alright. Let go already." He gave in.

"Really?" The brunettes eyes sparkled.

"Yeah now let go of my hands." Shikamaru pulled his hands away from her grasp and left the classroom for lunch with his heavy set friend, Choji.

Kasai stared at her love and sighed, slumping down in her seat.

"I just hope that he really keeps his promise. If he doesn't I don't know what I'll do!" She thought to herself, biting her thumb nail, with a nervous look on her face. "Well at least I'm on the same team as Sakura-chan!" She added cheerfully looking in front of her to find the seats empty.

She looked around the room for her missing pinkette.

"Sakura-chan?" She said aloud.

Kasai searches for Sakura all over part of the village but seems to be unable to find her.

"Sakura-chan! Where did you go?!" She calls out, while holding her lunch she made last night. "I made some yummy rice balls for me and Sakura to share. We'll they were for Shika-kun but he left to go have lunch with his new team." She said to herself, looking at her lunch then sighs.

Then suddenly she heard rumbling from the top floor of a building next to her.

"Naruto!" A familiar hushed voice growls.

"That sounds like Sasuke." Kasai said, then leaped up onto the roof, following the sound.

"Pipe down would ya!" Naruto said.

"I wonder what's going on in there?" Kasai adds pressing her ear up against the closed window.

Shikamaru, Ino, and Choji were eating rice balls together on the roof next door to the roof Kasai was standing on. They all were viewing what was happening and Shikamaru noticed Kasai by the window.

"It's Suzaku!" Shikamaru jumped then backed up a little so he was out of Kasai's sight.

"Naruto! If you so much as lay a scratch on him, you're on my enemy list forever!" Ino clutched her fists then noticed Kasai, then looked back at Shikamaru, grinning a teasing grin. "Oh Shikamaru, what's wrong? Scared of a girl?" She teased.

"Shut up. She's just really annoying that's all. She won't leave me alone." Shikamaru explained, groaning.

Then the rumbling sound stopped, followed by only silence. Ino looked back over at where Sasuke was and blinked with curiosity.

"What - what happened?" She spoke.

Kasai noticed the sound stop then swallowed hard. Then she felt the window opening and jumped out of sight, onto the roof above the next. She noticed Sasuke hopping out the window with a cocky grin on his face. Kasai blinked and blinked again at what just happened. Did Naruto start a fight with Sasuke and lost? Who knows.

After Sasuke left, jumping off the roof, Kasai waited a minute then jumped down in front of the window then hopped inside. What she found was completely unbelievable. She found Sasuke on the floor all tied up.

"Sasuke? Wait, if Sasuke's here, then who just left?" Kasai asked aloud, looking at the Sasuke on the floor and the way the other Sasuke left.

"Mmmm mmm!" Sasuke muffle with a cloth covering his mouth.

"Oh!" Kasai knew what he was saying and untied the ropes.

Sasuke stood up and untied the cloth that was around his mouth. He remained quiet then walked past her, then stopped in front of the window.

"You. Suzaku." Sasuke spoke, his back to her.

"Ah uh yes?" Kasai spoke,looking at him.

"Never speak of this to anyone. Got it?" Sasuke looked over his shoulder then glared.

"Uh...yeah sure." She nodded then followed him outside, out the window.

When they exited the building, Ino and Choji watched with disbelief.

"Um! Uchiha! Since we're on the same team now..." Kasai stutters as she stuffs her hand in her lunch and pulled out a rice ball, offering it in the Raven haired boy's direction. "PLEASE ACCEPT THIS RICE BALL!" Kasai shouts, a bit flustered at what she was doing.

Ino's mouth dropped as she smashed her rice ball that was jn her hand.

"Why that little...I thought she didn't like Sasuke...she's basically confessing to him!" Ino snarled about to charge when Choji held her back.

"Wait Ino!" He grunts, trying hard not to drop his rice ball.

She looks back at Choji with a death glare then at Shikamaru who was looking the other direction away from the current scene.

"Shikamaru! Aren't you gonna do something about this?! Kasai is confessing her love to another boy!" Ino points out.

"She can do whatever she wants. I really couldn't care less. If Sasuke dates her then she'll leave me alone for good." Shikamaru replied, finishing his rice ball then decided to take a nap.

"Say what?!" Ino cried.

"You..." Ino heard Sasuke speak as she whipped her head around to watch. "...are pathetic." Sasuke finishes looking over his shoulder at Kasai who's facial expression looked shocked and rejected.

Sasuke turns back around then makes his leave. Kasai stood on the roof, hand still holding out the rice ball. Ino watched Kasai as the brunette slowly brought the rice ball close to her chest.

"Hmph that's what she gets. She doesn't deserve Sasuke he's took good for her." Ino smiled with triumph.

Kasai gave the rice ball a small squeeze than slowly left in the same direction Sasuke went, head still down.

Moments later, Kasai was sitting on a bench eating the rice ball she offered to Sasuke. Even though she was a little hungry, eating a rejected rice ball didn't taste good to her. The night she was making the rice balls, Miss Kurenai was helping her. She told Kasai that a key to making friends

{Flashback}

"Am I doing this right miss Kurenai?" Kasai asked her guardian.

"Yes but don't smooth them too much it will make them hard." Kurenai replied with a motherly grin.

"Will this really help me make friends?" Kasai asked another question feeling a bit unsure. "I was just planning on sharing them with Sakura-chan and Shika-kun!" She adds, her smile brightens.

"Of course it will! With these rice balls, you cannot fail." Kurenai winked at the young ninja.

{End of flashback}

A crystal tear dripped onto the half eaten riceball. Kasai sniffled as she began to cry...

"I'm sorry Miss Kurenai...I don't know why the rice balls didn't work...I don't know what to do now..." she sobs but trying not to be too loud, placing her hand over her mouth.

"Ugh my stomach! Why is it like this?!" Shouts a voice.

Kasai freezes then slowly looks up and sees a familiar blonde walking in her direction, holding his stomach. His stomach was growling like a snoring dragon.

"He's on my team...could he maybe be...!" Kasai thought then stood up in front of him, giving him a fright.

"Uh um! Naruto Uzumaki!" She projects with embarrassment.

"Eh? Uh yeah?" Naruto blinks at the strange brunette.

"PLEASE ACCEPT THIS RICE BALL!!" she offers him one of her rice balls.

Naruto blinks again, looking at Kasai, then the riceball, then Kasai again followed by him pointing at himself.

"For me?" He asks, Kasai nods.

Naruto smiles then takes the rice ball out of Kasai's hands and takes a bite. His sky blue eyes light up.

"Wow this amazing!" He compliments.

"Really?!" Kasai's eye sparkled. "I'm so happy you like them!" She gives him a smile then holds out her hand.

Naruto looks at her hand with confusion.

"Lets work hard together and for our team, Naruto!" Kasai says.
