Hiccup sighed and ran his fingers through his unruly brown hair yet again, one of his stress habits. It was peppered with braids, Astrid's speciality, and the small beard on his chin was gaining length every day he let it grow.

The papers before him were the cause of the stress, which was mounting every day. Reports of sick and missing dragons and disconsolate owners, loyal dragons suddenly turning against their owners and not many babies dragons being born was enough to worry him considerably. These reports were also increasing every day, not dwindling, becoming a real problem.

He and Astrid had talked it over, but the fact was that they simply didn't have enough time or resources to investigate the cause of this problem, and the rest of his gang had their own places as well, and families. Of course, being the cautious and brave person Hiccup was, he was afraid to let anyone else take the job. But finding no other options, he began searching the island inconspicuously for someone who might fit the job.

After long consideration and deliberation with Astrid and Valka, he chose a strong young girl named Thalia. She was an experienced rider who'd graduated with honors from the dragon training academy, proving herself reliable time and time again, so Hiccup felt that she was ready to take on the responsibility of leading a group such as this.

The rest were also top graduates and great riders, and today was the day that Hiccup would present them with their very own dragons and send them on their first mission. He had called them all to a meeting that began in a few minutes, though none of them knew what it was for.

He turned the papers over and stood at the door of his house for a moment, watching the normally happy bustling life of Berk change into a threatening and confusing era. Sighing, he walked over to the training grounds and faced the group of eleven.

"As you all know, these mysterious Dragon cases are growing more frequent and out of control. As Chief, my responsibility is now too great to leave my post, so you all have been selected as an elite team to find out the cause.

"Thalia: you have shown your bravery and reliability in the toughest of trials. Therefore you have been chosen to lead the group as the Alpha. You will answer to me, and the others will answer to you. In our previous testing, Deadly Nadder's have proved to be the most resilient in the light of our recent threats, so I bestow upon you Frostbringer.

"Markus: you will be given the title of Wingman, or second in command, for your skills in battle and in the saddle. Your dragon will be Shadowfang, also a Deadly Nadder.

"Kiba: you will be a flier, or main rank. Your Dragon will be Freefall, a Changewing.

"Nova: you will be a flier. Your Dragon will be Shockwave, another Deadly Nadder.

"Annika: you will be a flier. Your Dragon will be Sundrop, also a Deadly Nadder.

"Rasmus: you will be a flier. Your Dragon will be Deathglider, a Monstrous Nightmare.

"Simeag: you will be a flier. Your Dragon will be Quick and Sting, a Zippleback."

"And finally, Asher: you will be a flier. Your Dragon will be Hope and Jade, also a Zippleback."

"These will be your starter, or training dragons. If you do well with these you may earn a higher class, but for now stick with them and you will find out for yourself what loyalty means.

"I trust all of you to take this charge seriously and use your talents wisely. Respect will be needed. We will meet later for more information, but for now please get to know your dragons and get tack for them," Hiccup explained, then nodded thoughtfully at them all.

"Make me proud!" He called as he flew away on Toothless back towards his hut, a weight lifting from his shoulders. I'm counting on you.

Hello there fellow dragon riders! Welcome to chapter one of flight! Be sure that it is the correct starting day, and you've read the above storyline and the information below before commenting.
Each day there will be a specific task to complete, which will make up 7 real days and total 100 points by May 21. Please be active each day to at least complete your task!
If you miss a day you may be able to complete two tasks a day, but don't count on it.
Finally, the goal of this week is to get to know your dragons and your team. It may seem a bit boring, but trust me, this roleplay must have a strong foundation between roleplayers and their characters of it is to be successful.
