I will not counter your hatred with more hatred. I will tell you of the good things, the happy things. I will not be unforgiving, I will not spew the hurt inside me so you'll feel it, too. No, instead I will remember the beautiful dreams we had: of seas and poetry. I will remember the laughs we shared, and the happiness in falling asleep knowing someone else was there—breathing. I will remember the jokes and the nicknames and the excitement over things we were passionate about. I will marvel at the wonderfulness of a goodbye, and I will delight in this part of a freedom I search for—but I will not focus on everything that was wrong with us. I did that, and it never helped me heal. This is me moving on.
