I hoped Mrs. Price was truly sorry, so she would get the help she needed and have a better life. My life was already better. For the first time in nine years, I was free. All the bitterness and anger I had toward Mrs. Price was gone, washed away by the power of forgiveness. 

The woman staring at me with relief in her eyes didn't look like a monster anymore, just a sad, sick person who needed help, and I would give Tyler the incentive to make her get it. I squeezed the flash drive in my hand and headed to the library to find him.

He sat on the love seat, waiting for me. He patted the cushion next to him, like he did on my first visit.

I sat beside him, reflecting on how much had transpired since that day, amazed that tall, dark, and handsome Tyler Price still wanted to have a future with me. Nothing would make me happier. Gazing into his beautiful, dark blue eyes, I had to smile.

He smiled, too. "I'm guessing your talk with my mother went well."

"It did. She apologized, briefly. Honestly, I didn't give her a chance to talk. I just told her that I forgave her and she needed to get help with her problem, so she wouldn't hurt anyone else."

I opened my fingers and showed Tyler the flash drive on my palm. "Dean recorded your mother's confession about the accident." I held out my hand. "I'm giving it to you, with one condition. You promise me that you will do everything you can to ensure your mother will get the help she needs."

Eyes wide with surprise, he picked up the flash drive, rolling it between his fingers, and then hiding it in his fist. "I promise my mother will get professional help. I'll make sure she never hurts anyone else again."

I wrapped my hands around his fist. "Thank you."

Tyler put his other hand on top of mine. "I should be thanking you for not giving the flash drive to the police."

"I admit I thought about it, but I knew you wouldn't be happy if your mother went to jail because of me. And I couldn't do anything to hurt you or our future together."

"You make me very happy, Jasmine. You are an amazing person." Tyler leaned forward and kissed me.  

Tyler was quite amazing, too. 

So this was what happily ever after felt like.
