Chapter Thirty Two
Chapter 32
~
Since I wasn't busy, I'm currently going to Charlotte's house as I just called her on my way there and told her I was coming without her consent to inform her all about what happen last night at the movies INCLUDING Celeste cheating on Jake.
Charlotte had a right to know, as the other day she knew more that Andrew guy than me when we saw them in the parking lot and since our friendship was so close, she said just come in through the backyard, and I'd find her there and we'd get to investigating.
When I pulled up, her dad was talking to some gardeners who was working on their front yard, putting cherry blossoms by their white front patio.
When I slammed my car door shut, her dad, a successful lawyer who had the blueprint in his hand turned to me as I was walking up their circular driveway with a smile on my face. "And please don't mess with the Cardenas. My wife will kill me if anything happens to them." He turned to me, as I was walking toward them. "Oh, hello Dawn, coming to see Charlotte?"
"Yes sir, Mr. Montgomery," I nod once at him. "As always."
"Well she's in the backyard sunbathing in the middle of fall. I told her she's going to get sick," he shook his head as I passed him.
"Don't worry Mr. Montgomery, she knows what she's doing," I assure him.
"She is my daughter," he winked at me. "Feel right at home." I chuckled thanking him. I wish I had only brothers to be the apple of my dads eye.
When I reached her backyard, her little red head brother Charlie was in a pool with his goofy hispanic friend Javier, playing macro polo.
"Marco!" Charlie yelled as I walking over to Charlotte who had her shades on in a two piece, laying on one of the ten beach chairs they had.
"Polo!" Javier said swimming away. When I said,
"Hey Lotte," Charlie and Javier both turned to me, and Charlie opened his eyes.
"Hi DeeDee!!" Charlie waved at me super hard from the pool pulling his goggles up to see me clearly. It seemed as if all the kids under eight years old called me that.
"Hey DeeDee, over here! DeeDee!" Javier said after him. I giggled at them.
"Hey Javier! Hey Charlie!" Charlie kept his eyes open as he creeped upon Javier, and at the last second Charlie closed his eyes and tagged him.
Got you!!" He said laughing.
"Hey, you cheated!" Javier turned around crossing his arms upset.
"No way! I got you, now you're it!" he lied to him.
"Nohuh!"
"Yeshuh!" he said back.
"Charlie stop being a party pooper. Dee and I both saw you cheat," Lotte said with her eyes completely closed under her shades.
"Uggggh, why did you say someeeethinnngg?" her brother asked. Javier laughed swimming away to start a new game. I sat beside Lotte, her head turned to me as if she was sleep and I asked her,
"Lotte, how do you really know Charlie cheated? Your eyes were close the whole time." She lowered her shades from her eyes, her ocean blue eyes looking relaxed, her black mascara hitting every lash.
"If you had a younger sibling girlfriend, you'd know he did," then she pulled her shade back up and faced forward, one leg bent the other straight.
"I guess so," I laughed. Lotte then sighed heavily and she asked me,
"What did you do this morning?" I kind of gave her a funny look as I couldn't tell her Jake and I were together and we actually KISSED, so I had to beat around the bush.
"Oh, Jake and I had another study session. I made it early 'cause I didn't want him taking up my whole day like he deserved it," I brushed it off, although I kind of wouldn't mind if we did spend the together doing another lesson or even shopping... She nodded.
"I forgot about those sessions, and hey, why did he come to you anyways?" She turned to me and back out to her little brother. "I'm not saying he shouldn't have 'cause your English skills are pretty good, but it's like so random, you know? Like, what are you getting out of this?" she asked me. "Cause we all know Jake Lander loves bets."
"Well, technically I came to him first. We're helping each other through compromise. He helps me learn about dating and even kissing and I help him pass English so he won't fail and the SAT since this is junior year. College looks at those things," I want to tell her, but instead I say,
"He was bothering me about it so I just accepted, and honestly it's kinda good," I had to admit something. Charlotte looked at me. "Celeste honestly hasn't been all in my case lately, but after last night I see why." Charlotte looked at me then and I got serious. "We only associated during cheer, which I'm thankful for, but now I think she doesn't want me to know something I found out by accident!" I whispered yelled. Lotte nodded reaching over and sipped on the original glass of Coke in bottle with a bendy straw.
"Honestly, I think Celeste isn't bothering you 'cause she's trying to cover up something too ," Lotte thought. I squinted my eyes at her a little.
"You think so?" She shrugged.
"Has to be, and just because I don't like her I want to find out, but that'll be so low of us you know? Going all out our way to figure out some hoe's life. Like, that'll make US look bad won't it?" I nodded looking down.
"Yeah...a little bit..." but like we thought the same exact thing, we both look over and grinned at each other and Charlotte said,
"Imma look up his social."
"And imma print out these pics."
~
We're currently in Charlotte's actual room and despite the many times I've been in here, I always felt like I a princess in an actual fairy tale every time we were. Everything was pastel pink, gold, or white, and her room could fit AT LEAST ten other girls in it.
I'm currently sitting on her king size bed over done with silk and velvet pillows that was high off the ground and curtains down on the side. In front of me was two white love seat couches in front of a flat screen TV over a small electric fireplace. To the right of the room was a small wall to kind of separate her closet and make up vanity with Hollywood inspired lights, and her pink Bluetooth stereo, that was actually playing some songs from her phone right now.
Charlotte was at her desk which held her latest iMac, and she was looking up Andrew's social media on Instagram and Twitter.
"Find anything yet Lotte?" I asked her as I still sat on her bed, one legs crossed and the other hanging off the side, on her Mac Book laptop.
"To be honest no. I think I'm spelling his last name wrong," she says.
"Well look up Celeste's page and then look at who she follows 'till you see his name," I tell her. "I know they have to have blown up each other's notifications. That's like, how we flirt in this generation to be honest." She turns around and I smile at her as she nods impressed.
"Good idea Detective Dee," she says to me. "Very good." I laugh.
"Since when have I become a detective?" I asked her.
"Since all this!" she yells at me still not believing it. I just belly laughed getting back on task.
After a few clicks she calls me over, very excited. "Dawn get over here! I found him!" I move the laptop over and rush over to her and I'm standing beside her, bent down to stalk his Instagram. "Looks like Andrew is blonde babe with money," Charlotte sighs scrolling down his feed.
"Sounds like the type Celeste likes," I say just the same.
"That gold digger," Lotte whispers squinting her eyes. She's keeps scrolling clicking on random posts to see that Celeste was in fact commenting under his pictures with flirting and kissing emojis.
"Welp, we know who started what," Lotte turned to me in her fuzzy white chair.
"Most defiantly. Save that and print it. It might be small, but that's from weeks ago, so no telling how long this really has been going on," I tell Charlotte walking back over to the bed to continue editing the pictures I took.
"True. To be honest, I still can't believe you saw her in the bathroom and y'all conversed. Do you think she saw you leave from the movie theater and that's why she went to the bathroom too?" I shook my head looking at the back of Lotte's like she could see me and back down at the laptop as I hooked my phone to it.
"No, and I only say that because she didn't even know what movie I saw and didn't even see me leave the theater after the movie was over. I made Asher and I hang back in theater a bit so she wouldn't see us and by the time Asher and I did leave, she was already driving away in Austin's car."
"Did you get a picture of that?" Lotte turned around to me quickly. I nodded.
"Uh...duh." She smiled looking back at me. "I mean, they don't call me Detective Dee for nothing," I messed with her. She giggled.
"Hahaha! Dee you're so slick, I mean, what did Asher say about all this?" She left her computer and walked to sit beside me, grabbing a Coke bottle for the both of us she brought in earlier.
"Okay, I honesty didn't tell him what I was doing because I know guys hate it when girls do things like this," I took the Coke from her and took a sip. She nodded.
"True, I hope he didn't notice."
"I don't think he did," I said thoughtfully. "Or he was just ignoring the fact I was being weird or he really didn't care, but I don't think he noticed. He just walked to me car like it wasn't nothing."
"Well good, anyways, what evidence do you have?" We both looked at the laptop as I printing out the pictures.
"I'm printing them right now, and I tried to brighten the pictures as much as I could so that Jake can see that I'm not making this up." Lotte nodded licking her lips going over to her wireless printer and as she waited from the to print out, she scrolled down some more on Andrew's feed.
"Ahhh...Dawn...I think you need to see this.." Lotte calls me over.
"What?" I get up from the bed and go over to her as the pictures are still printing. I look down at the computer and my eyes widen as I know exactly what the problem was and she looks up at me and back at the computer.
"Girl....don't tell me that-"
"No...." I say breathlessly.
"Jake and Andrew are-"
"Best friends..." I whisper before she could finish. We look at each other and back at the computer, devastated yet surprised, that Celeste Hollister was cheating on Jake...
With his best friend.
