Chapter Tweleve

Chapter 12

~

"What is the formula to finding horizontal velocity again?" My physics teacher, Ms. Rosemary, asked us.

"I'm gonna die," I groan putting my head down on the table.

"What was that Miss Noel?" She called on me. I shot up.

"Oh um, Vx=Dx over T," I replied.

"Correct, now-" I blurred out everything after that and Asher chuckled.

"Tired?" He whispered. I nodded.

"Very," I put my head back down. "I don't know, it's just this class is just SO boring," I complained. "This has nothing to deal with my future career.....or what I'm even doing TONIGHT!" I complained.

"I feel you," Asher chuckled. "But as a senior taking this class AGAIN, I know why I failed," he joked. I laughed quietly.

"Oh yeah. What did you make?" I asked him really wanting to know.

"A 68, but I had Mr. Goodman. Everyone either failed like me or passed with a C. Man was tough," he sighed with crossed arms. "But rumor has it, he moved to some other school called Rosemere somewhere in Virginia because he realized his life was a failure."

"Hm interesting," I looked back at Ms. Rosemary. Behind her was some corny physics jokes about Halloween and it reminded me about the party.

"Oh, did you find a costume for the party?" I asked him. I was kind of glad it was there to remind me.

"Actually I did, but I want to keep it a surprise. So if it's stupid you can't say anything and I can't change it if it is," he smiled. I laughed.

"Well fine then. I'm keeping mine a secret too!" I placed my hands on my hip.

"Hahaha! Fine," he said back. We stared at each other for kind of a long time like we were having a staring contest, but suddenly, Asher and I came back to reality when we heard Ms. Rosemary comment,

"And it's due Friday at the beginning of class." Everyone got out a piece of paper and began writing something and I sighed.

"What are they doing?" Asher asked chuckling as if I'd know.

"I don't know," I said resting my chin on the palm of my hands with my elbow on the table. "But I do know something...."

"What is that?" Asher looked at me.

"I'm going to be in physics again next year too," I said plainly. He laughed.

"Haha! Well than that makes two of us!" He joked. I laughed resting my head on his shoulder literally dying and Ms. Rosemary stopped our moment.

"Excuse me Dawn, is something funny?" She asked me. I looked at her coolly.

"No ma'am, sorry," I told her.

"Alright then..." She kind of stared at me and went back at her work. I looked at Asher as he looked at me and we both began to laugh even harder, but holding it in and I honestly thought I was going to die.

~

"I'll text you," Asher told me as we were filing out class.

"I'll text you back," I told him smiling.

"Bye Dee," he smiled licking his lips.

"See you Asher," I replied.

We went our separate ways and I turned around literally freaking out biting my bottom lip holding in the excitement and I finally calmed down to see Celeste nearby.

She stared at me evilly while she talked with some blonde guy I recognize from the football team, and I shrugged smiling at her and I kept walking as she must've hated me for being seen with a senior and I went on to English.

When I made it, Jake was one of the first ones there, reading the book. I gave an awkward face as I went over to Mr. Will.

"Ah, Dawn. The author. Got anything for me today?" He asked. I nodded.

"Yup. It's a poem I wrote after I went out with a friend yesterday," I handed him the paper. "It didn't take long for me to write, so hopefully I don't have too many mistakes." He took it and scanned it over.

"It still looks very nice. I'll read it in my spare time," he smiled up at me from his desk.

"Thank you Mr. Will," I told him.

"Not a problem, and hey, are you helping out with Jake over there?" He pointed vaguely to him. "I've seen y'all sitting together lately." I chuckled.

"Yes sir, is something wrong?"

"No, no, not at all. If anything he's getting better at his work. I mean, ever since I seen him pick up a book his grades have jumped for C's and D's to high B's." I blinked surprised kind of happy for him and he continued, "So if anything whatever you're doing, keep it up. Guy might last this six weeks," he said thoughtfully. I chuckled.

"Alright, I will." I nodded. I turned around and sat beside Jake and he glanced over at me when I did.

"I saw you and Asher leaving from lunch together," he told me. I chuckled.

"Hehe, yeah?" I replied. He nodded.

"Hmhuh," he said through his lips. "Seems as if the guy is really into you."

"I guess. We kept getting in trouble in class for laughing last period. I don't even know why I mean, teachers are always talking about having fun in school and then we do, we get in trouble. I honestly thought it was stupid, but I didn't say anything," I shrugged nonchalantly. He laughed looking at me fully.

"Our kinda fun is not what older people advise Kit-Kat and you're really starting to act like me now," he commented. I fake chuckled.

"Pssssh, no way. I'm just me," I said like a prep. He chuckled.

"Hmmhuh, sure," he glared his eyes at me.

"Really!" I smiled at him. He laughed. I smiled at him and I look back at my work writing something else for Writers Block.

'What the heck could I write?' I thought looking off into space. 'This contest is just what it says....'

I kept thinking and Mr. Will began the lesson, but since I already knew what fugitive language was and discovering imagery, I decided to keep thinking, and I made up a short story based off a dogs perspective.

~
Anticipation

I've been sitting her for days.

She left me alone and she said she'd be back but I haven't seen her.

I haven't seen her.

A bowl full of water. A bowl full of food. Toys all over the floor, but I feel I need more, but it doesn't matter, because she's not here.

She's not here.

I wait patiently for her. Her scent still on floor, her distinct voice still ringing in my ears, but she's not here.

She's not here

It's a quarter till four and I'm still waiting by the door. She's bound to come in any second I know!

I hear the door shut, I hear her keys clutch.

"SHE'S HERE! SHE'S HERE!" I scream through out the house. "MOMMY IS BACK! SHE'S OUTSIDE THE DOOR!"

"Be quiet Max!" My master yells. "Can we all just sit down and relax?"

"BUT SHES HERE! SHES HERE!" I stand to my paws, not obeying my owners laws.

I hear the keys in the door 1, 2, 3 I wait once more.... Only to see its my master clearly to be adore.

"Max! How are you little guy?" She asked me.

"MOMMY! MOMMY!" I wined out of line. "You've been gone all day! My only joy is to cry!"

"Did you eat all your food while I was away? You get so depressed it always seems to stay."

"Of course I didn't mommy, I've been waiting for you! I love you so much! I could kiss you a bunch!"

"Well I'm back now little guy. Now eat your food and just to think, I'll make me some too."

So we ate as said, and I didn't even have to beg.

Mommy is back so I'm not at a whack. So here's again to another great night, tugged away in my little bed tonight....

"I love you puppy," mommy kissed me goodnight.

"I love you too master," I looked up at her as she turned off the light.

Knowing tomorrow I'll do this all again, I'm still excited for anticipation begin.

For a dog's life is long and dreadful but with masters like mine, you can't really seem to mind.

I felt confident with what I wrote as I was rereading it for mistakes and it kind of made me chuckle. I never had a dog, not that I didn't want one, but I felt this is what they'd go through and I felt Mr. Will will love it too.

We had five minutes until the bell would ring and everyone was packing up and surprisingly I looked over to see Jake storing away a piece of paper with notes on it and I widen my eyes gasping.

"Whoooa," I leaned back away from him. He looked at me. "Did Jake Lander just take notes?" I asked sarcastically.

"I just wrote down what I didn't know," he informed me trying not to seem good for once.

"Which was probably everything," I gave him a nasty face.

"No huh!" He protested. "It was just a few."

"Hmmhuh, whatever," I playfully squinted my eyes at him. He laughed. "I'll be right back," I got up. He nodded once licking his lips and I turned around and walked to the front of the class and I handed Mr. Will the poem.

"I hope you don't mind, but I was writing another entry for the contest during your lesson," I admitted. "It took all period." He extended his hand to take it regardless.

"Oh I don't mind. I expect, especially from writers like you, to already to know this stuff already. What is it about?" He skimmed it over.

"It's an excerpt I came up with from a dog's perspective," I explained. "It may seem like repetition, but I feel that's how dogs think." Mr. Will didn't say anything as he still looked it over and he chuckled.

"Haha, I love this little part when the dog is screaming. So really he is barking and that's why a person in the house with him is telling him to be quiet?" He asked.

"Yes!" I nodded. "That's exactly what's going on."

"Haha! I love it! I may just have to copy it and show it to my wife. Thank Dawn, I'll place this in the contest for you," he nodded.

"Thanks Mr. Will," I said as the bell began to ring. "I'll see you tomorrow."

"Alright, take care."

I went back to my seat to get my satchel and things, and Jake smiled at me as he actually waited for me to come back.

"So are we having that session tonight?" He asked.

"Oh yeah. You wanted me to help you with whatever you wanted help with. At five right? Your place?"

"If you're willing to let me invite you." I raised an eyebrow.

"Shut up, I'll go," I playfully punched his arm. He's laughed.

"Haha alright then. See you later Kit-Kat," he pinched my right arm. I quickly covered it as it stung.

"It's Dawn," I corrected him. He looked back at me from the door.

"Yeah, I get it." I rolled my eyes smiling.

"Why do I even bother?"

~

I'm in last period with Charlotte and we were just working on a worksheet like we do every other day we don't watch a video and honestly, I almost spilt the whole thing Kevin wanted to do with her, but I quickly shut my mouth and decided to say something different, but relatable to help him.

After all, I could be the one who said I got them together.

"So Lotte," I glanced at her as she wrote down an answer from the textbook.

"Hmmmm?" She said through her lips not looking at me.

"Do you have any certain restaurants you're liking right now?" I asked normally. She shrugged still not looking at me.

"I've been craving sweets actually," she admitted. "I tried this new bakery last night with my mom and it was honestly the best place ever. Jumbo Vanilla Cupcakes and a to-go pink lemonade...." She looked at me pretending to melt with her mechanical pencil over her heart and her hand, under that. "So good."

I nodded with squinted eyes as she didn't look at me but when she noticed I was looking at her she gave me an odd look. "Why'd you ask?" She asked me. I was ready for this question.

"Just wondering. In my culinary class we're doing mini surveys on what our peers have been liking lately in town and honestly you're the first to say a bakery," I had to make it believable.

"Really? Well, it's true. Hey are you busy after school today? I don't have soccer practice and I was wondering if you'd want hang out or something. We could go to the outlet downtown or you hang at my place?" she suggested. I widen my eyes.

Okay, I was NOT ready for THAT.

I really wanted to help Jake after school today, considering all I really wanted to do was talk about Asher, and I COULDN'T tell Lotte I was helping Jake-it was part of the deal! So I had to make up something.

Quick.

"Oh sorry girl. I wish I could, but I have this project due Friday in physics, and I haven't started. It has to be like 2,000 words or something. That's honestly not a lot, but when you don't pay attention in class, it's pretty hard." Lotte blinked surprised.

"Dang, well. Never mind. We could do something this weekend I guess. It's not that big of a deal," she shrugged it off.

"Sounds good," I nodded once.

"Um Dawn, are you finish with your work?" Mr. Martin asked me.

"No sir," I replied.

"Get to work please," he told me. He looked down at his desk and I gave him an evil face as other people were talking too.

"What the heck?" I whispered to Lotte. She shrugged smiling.

"I don't even know," she said after me.

"Screw school," I rolled my eyes. Lotte laughed.

"Dawn I feel today you changed..... But I like it," she confirmed. I laughed.

"I didn't change," I corrected her laughing. 'But I know Jake has...' I crooked smiled.
