Chapter 7

I am not in love with Harry Potter.

I am not in love with Harry Potter.

I am hopelessly in love with Harry Potter.

Draco had been trying to deny it all day. Hell, he'd been trying to deny it for years. But the love potion only made it certain in Draco's mind:

He was hopelessly, desperately, incredibly in love with Harry Potter.

It wasn't difficult to distinguish the owl-and-parchment scent as Harry's. And that only made Draco realize how much he cherished the smell whenever he was around it.

It wasn't sudden. His feelings had been growing, spirally out of control for ages now. Draco hated it, because he knew he couldn't act on them.

His father could never know he was gay. He would never except that the only living Malfoy son won't ever have a biological heir.

And Harry... no. He definitely couldn't know. It would ruin everything, everything Draco had ever known about anything if Harry knew his true feelings towards him.

In a way, though, he was almost relieved. At least he finally had an explanation as to why he'd never had any feeling towards Pansy, a girl that the majority of the Slytherin house had been guessing he'd marry for years. And why Draco had always seen guys in a... different way than girls. He noticed things about boys that he never attempted to see in girls. It was a different kind of attraction, and now he had an explanation.

That didn't mean that Draco was ever going to act on it, though.

No, he would settle down with a nice, pureblood woman, and never let any of these feelings escape the depths of his heart. He would never allow himself to be entirely happy, because that would require Harry's love, which was something he knew he would never acquire.

But Draco couldn't rid himself of the thoughts of Harry's gorgeous green eyes, his jet black hair that was constantly tousled and made him want to smooth it out whenever they were together, the scar on his forehead that served as a constant reminder that he should be dead. The glasses that were constantly askew, the small mole near his hairline, the scrawny build that would be so easy to sweep into a hug and then a kiss.

Harry was beautiful in every way.

Just these thoughts filled Draco with joy, an inflating feeling of happiness bringing a stupid smile to his lips. He desperately wanted to kiss that lightning scar of Harry's, to thank it for being the only price for him keeping his life.

But, of course, that could never happen, and the thought was ridiculous. Harry would never be okay with that. Harry would never reciprocate these feelings. Harry wasn't gay. It was clear that Harry had feelings for that Weasley girl, anyway.

Draco was thinking about Harry just as he ran into him in the halls.

"Watch it, Potter," Draco sneered instinctively.

Harry look surprised, but composed himself quickly. "Where are you going in such a rush, Malfoy?"

"None of your business," Draco spat. Honestly, he wasn't headed anywhere in particular. He had been walking through the halls aimlessly, avoiding his peers and his thoughts.

Harry narrowed his eyes. "If you're doing a job for the man that nearly killed me and is going to murder countless innocent people, then I think it's my business."

Draco rolled his eyes, leaning back against the wall behind him. "Someone has a high opinion of themself," he said, trying to sound utterly bored. He could practically feel the frustration wafting off of Potter.

"I—you—"

"When you figure out what to say, I will shut you up in the only way appropriate, deal?" Draco said, walking away. He wore a slight smile that he was glad Harry couldn't see.

Let Harry interpret the statement how he would like. Draco sure as hell wasn't going to stop him.

---

Harry was still stammering his way into the oblivion. What did that even mean, Malfoy would "shut him up in the only way appropriate?" He was going to punch him? Curse him, probably. Knowing Malfoy, that was most likely the case.

Harry came up with what to say just as Malfoy's blond, slicked back hair disappeared around the corner. "Wait!" he called, rushing after him.

When Malfoy turned, he wore an annoyed look on his face. "Honestly, Potter, is that how long it takes you to conjure up a comeback?"

Harry ignored the jibe, saying the line he had come up with in his head. "The only one here with a overly high opinion of themselves is you, Malfoy. After all, you seem to think you're the only one who's safety matters if you're willing to compromise that of an entire school."

Harry maintained a neutral expression, but could not help but feel a smug sense of complacency. Malfoy seemed stunned, wearing a far-off expression. He seemed to be thinking, and Harry was glad that he had finally managed to catch the Slytherin off guard.

Malfoy slowly met Harry's gaze, staring into them analytically in a way that made him uncomfortable. His pale eyes practically looked through Harry.

It happened quicker than Harry could process.

---

Draco struck like a snake. His lips met Harry's for a brief millisecond. When he pulled back, just as quickly, Harry was staring at him in obvious shock, completely frozen.

"Did it work?"

---

Harry didn't know where his voice came from. It sounded distant, even to his own ears. "Did what work?"

Malfoy rolled his eyes. "Did it shut you up?"

Harry remained silent. Draco heaved a defeated sigh. He sounded pathetically resigned.

"That's what I thought."

With that, he walked away.

---

Harry was... perplexed. But, surprisingly, not entirely disgusted or angry.

"Draco!" he called after the once again retreating boy. Malfoy turned slowly, wearing an expression of polite boredom.

"Yes?"

Harry didn't hesitate as he ran towards the Slytherin and threw his arms around him.

---

Their lips crashed together, and Draco was delighted at how right it felt. Harry wasn't resisting at all, carelessly shoving his lips into the Slytherin's with a force that he didn't think he possessed.

After what felt like way too short a time, Draco pulled away, gasping for breath. "What's overtaken you, Scarface?" he asked, nonchalantly amused.

Harry's arms were still around the taller boy's neck, forcing him up on his toes. He didn't seem to mind in the slightest, and he made no effort to untwine himself. He looked confused, as if his brain was trying to catch up to his actions.

"Is this... is this okay? With you?"

Draco raised an eyebrow. "I could ask the same thing. You seem rather jittery."

Harry sighed. "Am I gay?"

Draco let out a large burst of laughter. "I don't know, Potter. Do you like boys? That's usually a giveaway."

Harry rolled his eyes but did not answer, instead simply leaning his forehead so it was up against Draco's chin. Draco tilted his head to rest his lips on Harry's slightly stiff hair. He wondered when he had last washed it. He wondered if he even cared.

"Are you a boy, Draco?" The words came out muffled, but Draco was listening.

"Yes, Potter," he said, hoping the boy currently buried in his shirt could hear the eye roll in his voice.

"Then I think... I think I like boys."

---

Harry had embraced Draco like that for quite some time, until students began to fill the halls once again after their free period had ended. The two had separated without a word, both going in opposite directions.

The Gryffindor had a lot on his mind. What had just happened? His brain was finally beginning to process what he had just done.

He had kissed Draco Malfoy.

And he had liked it.

A lot.

So much so, that he was already thinking about when he could do it again.

Was he supposed to be feeling this way? After all, he had been starting to have feelings for Ginny... or so he thought. Was it possible for him to have liked both of them?

What was happening?

---

Draco was smiling like a lunatic by the time he got to Herbology. He took his seat next to Crabbe and Pansy.

"What's got you so happy?" Pansy asked, her eyes narrowed in suspicion. Her dark bob was tied back with a green tie, and at closer inspection, Draco recognized it as his own. He wrote Malfoy on all of his clothes, since Blaise was notorious for losing his stuff and stealing Draco's.

"How did you get my tie?"

Pansy looked confused for a moment, but then realization dawned on her. "Goyle got it for me. I thought it would look cute, but I didn't have any clean ties," she explained sweetly.

Draco didn't respond, simply looking down at the bowtruckle that had crawled onto his arm. They were constantly sneaking into the greenhouses.

"You avoided my question," Pansy reminded, poking Draco in the side. He jerked away, letting out a hiss of annoyance.

"Is it any of your business?" he asked vehemently.

Pansy was silent, and when Draco finally looked at her, she looked like she was considering something unpleasant.

"Is it... a girl? Were you with a girl?" she asked reluctantly, wincing as if the mere thought was just too unpleasant to bear.

Draco rolled his eyes.

"It is most definitely not a girl."

A/N: Happy Valentine's Day! For the special day, here's some gay!

But really, finally some romance! It's like all of the fifth and sixth books (filled with an unreasonable amount of sexual tension). My reads shot up since my last update, so thank you a lot for that. Have a lovely day, and if you don't have a Valentine... just binge read Drarry fanfic:) That's what I'll be doing, if you need me. Even though I do have a Valentine... who I should probably be spending time with...

Oh well.
