Erebor
Your POV:
I keep thinking about Smaug as I run. I know that Bard will kill him but I feel bad for leaving them. I just had the instinct to go with Legolas. I will still save Kili, Fili and Thorin, of course. I hear the dragon but try not to think about it. Right now, I just need to follow Bolg.
Legolas- He is too far, we need to turn back and find Tauriel!
This is supposed to happen. As I turn back, I sense his conflicted feelings. He is hesitant to see Tauriel. I ignore it and think about all that happened to me since I first arrived here with (BF/N). I'm not a skin-changer, right? I can't be. But then why can I transform into a wolf? And why did the poison in the forest affect me that bad? We arrive at Lake-Town and Legolas thanks me before going to Tauriel who is talking to Kili.
Tauriel- My Lord Legolas.
Legolas- Take your leave of the Dwarf. You are needed elsewhere.
I transform back into my human-self and walk to the boat, waiting for Kili. I look away as I know what happens and feel awkward to just be there. I go in the boat and watch Tauriel and Legolas as we go. Legolas looks at me for a second and our eyes meet but he quickly looks away. Now climbing the mountain, I look back at Lake-Town. I don't know why but I suddenly feel like crying, seeing the burning houses.
Kili- Hey, are you alright?
I smile sadly.
(Y/N)- I'm fine, don't worry about it. Oh, here we are!
We run inside, them worried and me excited. As we walk around, I look everywhere in aw. This is truly incredible.
Bilbo- Wait! WAIT! Stop! Stop! Stop. You need to leave. We all need to leave.
(Y/N)- It's Thorin, isn't it?
Bilbo- I tried talking to him but he won't listen. He's been down there for days. He doesn't sleep, he barely eats. He's not himself, not at all. It's this place. I think a sickness lies on it.
Kili- Sickness? What kind of sickness?
Bilbo- Fili. Fili! Fili!
This is bad. I hate when Thorin is like that but still follow them. That's when we see the gold. Gold, everywhere and Thorin in the middle of it.
Thorin- Gold. Gold beyond measure. Beyond sorrow and grief.
He looks at us.
Thorin- Behold the great treasure hoard of Thror.
I start to back away, slowly.
Thorin- Welcome my sister-sons to the Kingdom of Erebor.
As we go see the others, they hug and everything but I stay away, thinking. Many hours later, they are all searching for it as I stay on the balcony, searching for something good. Bilbo comes so I hide. He sits down, probably thinking about what to do now. He looks at the Arkenstone and I get out of hiding.
(Y/N)- Hey, Bilbo. Don't worry, I know that you have it but I won't tell anyone. It's better if Thorin doesn't have it.
Bilbo- Thank you, I think.
I calmly nod and watch him go. He is probably going to ask Balin some questions. I hate not being able to do anything! To not help! But I know when I can't do anything so I just stay outside, silently crying. This is just too much. I always wanted this but it's more complicated than I thought. And now that I have weird abilities, I don't even trust myself. I just want to talk to (BF/N) right now, she would know what to say. Sighing, I sit down and slowly get lost in thoughts. Night falls and I fall asleep.
Next morning
When I wake up, I feel like I have not slept, like my energy is getting drained. It must be the mountain, the gold that is having that effect on me. Just like the forest. I don't know why but it seems as if darkness has more effect on me than others. I think that I'll just stay here and try to get my strength back.
That night
I watch as the people of Lake-Town arrive and Thorin panicks but I don't do anything. If I want to help Bilbo, I need to not get kicked out by Thorin which means not pissing him off which is what always happens.
The morning after
Well, Thranduil's army is here. This is bad. I see Bard coming. I do not want to see this so I just go away. Nothing that I do will help anyway. What I can do is wait for Bilbo to help him.
Hours later
I see Bilbo going down so I follow him without him knowing. I transform into my wolf-self because I make fewer sounds in this form. Nobody remarks me because I am black and stay in the shadows.
Bard- This is a fight they cannot win.
Bilbo- That won't stop them.
I go out of the shadows and transform back to my human-self.
(Y/N)- He's right. You think the Dwarves will surrender? They won't. They will fight to the death.
Gandalf- Bilbo Baggins and (Y/N).
A bit later
Thranduil- If I'm not mistaken, this is the Halfling who stole the keys to my dungeons from under the nose of my guards.
Bilbo- Yes. Sorry about that.
(Y/N)- *laugh* We came to give you this.
I nod to Bilbo to show him the Arkenstone.
Thranduil- The Heart of the Mountain. The King's Jewel.
Bard- And worth a king's ransom. How is this yours to give?
Bilbo- I took it as my 14th share of the treasure.
I smile sadly, knowing the rest.
Bard- Why would you do this? You owe us no loyalty.
(Y/N)- You're too kind, Bard. We are not doing it for you.
Bilbo- I know that Dwarves can be obstinate and pigheaded and difficult. They're suspicious and secretive with the worst manners you could possibly imagine but they are also brave and kind and loyal to a fault. We've grown very fond of them and would save them if we could. Even tho I had no idea she was following me. Now, Thorin values this stone above all else. In exchange for its return, he will give you what you are owed. There will be no need for war.
I smile sadly because I know that there will still be a war but still appreciate the kind gesture. I am about to follow Bilbo and Gandalf when King Thranduil asks me to stay a bit. Worried, I look at Gandalf but he is already gone. Bard also gets out of the tent and I am left alone with this scary Elf.
(Y/N)- Is there anything you need?
Thranduil- I wanted to ask you some questions.
(Y/N)- What? Alright...
Thranduil- What are you? I heard from guards that you could transform into a black wolf, is that true?
(Y/N)- It is true. As for the other question, I don't know what I am. May I go talk to Gandalf, please? I have some serious matter to talk to him about.
Thranduil- You may.
(Y/N)- *bow* Thank you.
I search for Gandalf and when I find him, I run to him and immediately ask him what I have been meaning to ask for days.
(Y/N)- Gandalf, why can I transform into a wolf? And why do evil things affect me so bad? I need to know.
Gandalf- *sigh* Lady Galadriel told me that this would happen. She said that when it did, I have to tell you everything. Come, we need to talk.
