19- Cheese

A/N- Jeez you guys so many of you were asking for this update!! So here you go haha hope it was worth the wait! Special thanks to insignificantIguess for helping me out with this chapter!! Now, today's song is Love is a Cat From Hell by Chiodos (feat. Vic Fuentes)

I don't know how long Tyler and I sat on the couch with him crying on my shoulder, but it felt like a really, really long time.

On one hand I was still mad at him for what he said earlier today, but on the other hand it's hard to stay mad at someone who has obviously been pushed past their breaking point.

Eventually Tyler's gut wrenching sobs turned into quiet sniffles. His death grip on my shirt loosened so his shaking hands were just resting lightly on my chest.

"Tyler, what happened? What are you doing out this late?" I asked softly, afraid that my words would set him off again. I don't do very well around crying people...

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry for waking you up. I'm sorry for what I said today. I'm sorry for how I've been acting the past couple weeks I just...my anxiety...my mind...I just can't get any peace. My car getting broken into is what set this whole thing off. Now when I drive, it's silent and it gives my mind room to run wild, and not in the good way."

He sat up and wiped his eyes before turning to face me.

"I've always been a very insecure person, and when I don't have something going on to distract me, those thoughts creep into my mind and consume it. It puts me on edge. Fills me with doubt. And my parents have really started pushing me dropping music and going back to basketball and getting a college scholarship. They don't get it. Music helps me get all the bad thoughts out of my head; it helps me deal with them. Basketball doesn't do that, it never did."

Tyler stood from the couch, his tone was less sad now; instead it became passionate and intense. He began to pace back and forth on the other side of the coffee table, talking rapidly and using his hands to accentuate certain points.

"Music speaks to so many people, helps them through so many problems. My parents don't get that. They hear the music, but they don't listen to it. They don't listen to the meanings woven into the words. But people like you and I, it is so much more than instruments and words. It's art. It's therapy. We cling to music, to art, because we desperately don't want to be alone. We want to know we aren't going crazy and someone else out there knows exactly how we're feeling. We want someone to explain the things that we can't. To just help us find a reason to continue on with our lives."

At the end of his speech, his voice grew quiet. He took a deep, shaky breath before letting it out and looking over at me with an exhausted sheepish expression.

"I'm sorry, that probably sounded kind of cheesy, but I meant all of it. Every single word."

"Eh, sometimes cheese is good," I responded with a shrug of my shoulders.

But, he was absolutely right with everything he said. The reason I got into music in the first place was the find some way to let out the anger the built up during each school day.

The response Tyler gave me was one I was not expecting. He started laughing, a huge smile on his face. I just grinned and watched him. I'm no longer mad at him, how could I be after all of that? After he stopped laughing, he joined me on the couch once again.

"Sorry, that just hit me really funny. My emotions are just all over the place right now. But, back to the main reason I'm here. I'm sorry Josh. I promise to talk to you and communicate better. I promise to not snap at you like that again. Will you please come back to the band? If not I understand, I was a major asshole earlier."

I didn't answer right away. I thought about my choices and all the possible outcomes. The pros and cons to each situation. I processed everything I had just heard from Tyler, and confidently made my choice, knowing that it was the right one.

"Sure Fluffy, I'll come back." He threw his arms around me and pulled me into a tight hug, a flood of thanks flowing from his lips.

He pulled back, placed both hands on the sides of my face, and kissed me on the lips.

It was quick, just a small peck, but it still happened. He pulled back with wide eyes; the realization of what he had just done hitting him. He quickly pulled his arms back to his sides.

"Shit. Oh shit. Oh my God." He ran his hand through his hair, a stressed expression covering his face. He scooted farther away from me on the couch and quickly began to ramble off apologies.

I couldn't understand half of what he said. I heard bits and pieces, and was able to put together that he liked me and understood that I didn't like him back and that he was ok with it. He hoped what he just did didn't ruin our relationship.

And then there was something about being homeless in a refrigerator box.

I tried multiple times to interrupt his rant, but he couldn't hear me over his own panicked words. Finally I did something that I knew would make him stop. I leaned over and kissed him back.

His lips immediately froze against mine in shock. But then, the shock melted away and he began to kiss back. He reached up and lightly tangled one hand in my messy brown curls, while the other hand lightly cupped the back of my neck. I pulled him closer to me, my hands tightly gripping his hips.

When we finally broke apart for air, somehow Tyler was on my lap, his legs on either side of mine. When did he get there? From the expression on his face, he didn't know either.

"Whoa," He said his lips red and slightly swollen.

I just nodded my head in agreement before letting it fall into the crook of his neck. I felt him shiver from my breath fanning across his neck, but he didn't push me away. He only pulled me closer.

"I'm still going to call you Thief, because now you've stolen my heart." He said softly.

"Little too much cheese Fluffy." I chuckled.

"Shut up, I'm being cute."
