Tyler's POV

I was sitting on my own waiting on Josh to walk into the shop. On my way here I realized I had no idea what he looked like so I wouldn't be able to tell when he walked in the door.

Oh well, I'll just hope that either he hears my name when it's called or I'll hear his. It'll work out one way or another. I was broken from my thoughts by the sight of a familiar face in my peripheral vision.

I turned to look fully and sure enough, there was Thief. His eyes met mine and an angry frown made its way onto his face. He started walking over towards me, so I stood up to prevent him from towering over me.

"Fluffy," he said, his voice showing no hint of emotion.

"Thief," I replied, but apparently he didn't like my nickname for him, because it set him off on a rant.

He proceeded to explain how actually I was the thief because I took the box from him after he paid for them. I had thought about it that way, but decided he deserved it in the end for all of his stupid name calling and freaking shoving me into a shopping cart.

My only defense I had was I told him he stole them from me in the very beginning when we were grabbing it off the shelf. It was a weak defense I know, but it was all I had.

Before Thief had a chance to respond, the barista called out my name to let me know my drink was ready. I gave Thief one last frown before going over to the counter and grabbing my coffee.

I turned back around and saw Thief with a frustrated, yet contemplative look on his face. I walked back over to him and before I could say anything he asked me a question.

"You're name is Tyler?"

"Yes, why?" Almost instantly his face paled slightly and his frown grew deeper.

"I'm Josh." I felt my eyes widen and I almost dropped my coffee.

No.

No freaking way in hell.

Why out of all people that could've answered my ad did it have to be him? I was getting ready to say screw it and leave, but I stopped myself. He could be my only chance to make it in the music industry.

He could be the missing link I've been looking for all this time. I swallowed my pride (only a bit) and began to try to turn this conversation in a more positive direction. I'm so desperate for my dreams to come true, that I'm willing to try to put all this crap behind us and give Josh a shot.

"Well...this is a little awkward. Um, do you still want to talk?" I mumbled while avoiding Josh's gaze. He looked surprised at my words and I don't blame him. Not one bit.

"Huh?"

"C'mon dude, we're two adult men who want to make it big in the music industry, something that whenever you tell people it's what you want to do they like to tell you it'll never work. I'm guessing you've heard that more than a couple times?" I questioned.

"Yeah, I have. Mostly from family members..." he trailed off. It made me feel a bit bad for him. My immediate family was extremely supportive of me; I couldn't imagine having them tell me to just give up.

"Then we should be able to put a box of fruit snacks behind us long enough to at least talk a bit. If we still don't get along, fine. We don't ever have to talk to each other again. But for now let's try to be more mature than we were at the store and just talk. Get to know each other more and talk through things. What do you say?"

Josh was quiet for a moment as he thought. I held my breath waiting on his response. Thankfully he agreed to at least talk with me a bit. While he went to go order his coffee, I went and sat back down at the table I was at earlier. I idly drummed my fingers on the table and took small sips of my drink here and there while I was waiting him.

When he did come and sit down, it was really hard to get the conversation going, but I was trying. I had the idea to just take turns exchanging questions, and that ended up working out really well.

We learned a lot about eachother and actually got along really well. When we finally did leave the shop, we exchanged numbers and agreed to try to meet up again soon to discuss actually working together since we spent this whole time just learning small things about eachother.

That was not time wasted though; it was good for us to see that there actually is a chance we might be able to work well together.

I got in my car and hummed along to the radio as I drove home. I was happy; what I thought was going to turn out to be a disaster actually went pretty well. When I got home, the house was quiet even though it was late in the evening; people should be home by now.

I saw a note in the kitchen from my parents saying that they were going out tonight and my siblings were once again at friends' houses. With a sigh I went about finding something quick to eat for dinner. Another night on my own I guess...

I can't wait till I'm out touring somewhere. I'll always have someone around to talk to and I won't have to try as hard to block out the negative thoughts that always seem to come around when it's quiet.

I can't wait to finally make something of myself.
