Chapter 1 - Continued.

You don't turn around; you don't need to, to know they are both staring at you. After all, you can feel it, goosebumps rising on the nape of your neck. You walk faster, make it halfway across the road when the boy calls out to you again.

"Do you love her Adam?!"

Your body locks, you pause mid step, you turn back to stare at the boy. And that's when you hear the horn, see the approaching headlights, hear the brakes squeal as they work against the slick from the wet road. You notice both the child and Wolf are nowhere to be seen, but that's the least of your concerns, despite braking, the car is still advancing on you, any moment now it'll slam into you. But you can't move. Fear has locked you out of your body and your helpless to watch as it gets closer and closer. In a film, or on T.V, hell, even in a book this is what you would call a blackout moment, the screen/story would fade to black, and the reader/watcher would be spared the trauma. No such luck I'm afraid, you don't have the pleasure.

The driver panics and yanks the wheel to the left but the vehicle isn't very responsive, the cars beam blinds you, the paralysis breaks and you raise a hand to shield your eyes, and that's when the car slams into you. Your leg snaps and suddenly your reality is distorted, your world thrown on its axis, down is up and up is down, your flying upside down, the earth seems a million miles away despite the ground being dangerously close, you feel the spin, the tumble, the turn, weightless, gravity in its infinite wisdom has forgotten about you completely. You vomit, and feel the very same vomit hit you in the face, the ground is still taunting you, unwilling or unable to reach out to you, blood blinds you, and in a sea of endless red you smash into the ground and feel more bones break, you never knew a human could withstand this level of pain, you always assumed your brain would try to protect you, attempt to suppress some of the senses, not this, not every sense you have screaming out in agony.

"Hey!"

"Call an ambulance."

"Mister!"

"Shit."

"Yoo-hoo!"

"I can't find it."

"Hey!"

"What?"

"Mister!"

"What do you think I mean?!"

"Yoo-hoo"

"His fucking pulse."

"Do you love her Adam?"
