Chapter 9

"Listen to me, I don't know what the hell is going on here. I just want to know where the hell my daughter is!" Dr Keller screamed at the man in front of her.

Her husband had been taken into a different room and she didn't know why. All she knew was that forty five minutes after they had heard some noise coming from the basement, the doorbell had rung and some soldiers had led them away. And now they were at some secret government base in the middle of god knows where and the only thing they'd gotten out of it all was that their daughter had gone missing and somehow their basement had been destroyed (weird as they hadn't noticed when they'd went down to check the strange noise they had heard before).

All these people were doing was asking her questions that didn't make sense and annoyed the heck out of her. They wanted to know about twins. What twins? Her daughter didn't know any twins. If she did then doctor Keller was sure she would have told her. After what felt like ages, an older gentleman who seemed to be more superior than the men who were questioning her came into the interrogation room.

"Doctor Keller. It's an absolute pleasure to meet you. Your reputation precedes you." He said with a smile whilst holding out his hand for a handshake.

She merely looked at his hand but doesn't take it. He did not take offense but immediately got her message. She was not interested in playing games.

"I'm a doctor like you. I'm doctor Boris Javier but I'm more of a bio weapons specialist." He continued.

"Look, I don't care who or what you are. The only thing I'm interested in is finding out where my daughter is. You people said you have an idea." Dr Keller said in a stern voice.

"Theoretically we do." He added.

"Theoretically?" She asked in a ticked off voice.

"Yes. See, we know who she's with but what we don't know is where they went." He explained.  "We need your help with that."

"Do I like I know where my daughter is?!" She snapped at him.

She's just about had it with these people.

"Dr. Keller, your daughter is in danger. It's apparent we find them as soon as possible. You're quite familiar with one of the twins we're looking for. Micah Francis." He said.

"I know him. He's friends with my Lily." Dr. Keller said. "But he didn't strike me as being dangerous. I didn't know he had a twin either."

"He may not be dangerous but his brother is. It is my belief that your daughter is being held hostage, albeit unknowingly." He replied.

She is thoughtful for a while. There was something about this man she didn't trust. She couldn't quite put a finger to it. She decided not to play whatever game he was playing.

"You have no right to keep us here. And I'm not at liberty to say a damn thing to you." She said to him through clenched teeth.

He narrowed his eyes at her.

"Fair enough. If you won't cooperate willingly then I'll just have to make you." He said in a sinister voice.

She tensed at his words. If he thought torture was going to make her say anything then he had another thing coming. He spoke into his mouthpiece and she watched as the door opened and a young red haired boy comes into the room. He was about Lily's age. Give or take two years.

The redhead nodded at Dr. Javier in acknowledgement.

"Zee." The doctor said to him in acknowledgment. "Dr. Keller needs a little persuasion to cooperate."

Zee doesn't need further explanation. He understood what his master wants. He walked over - slowly - to the woman's side of the table. She tensed.

"If you lay a single finger on me, young man, I swear to god I will kick your ass!" She threatened.

He wanted to laugh at her. She was quite feisty and he found it quite entertaining. Standing right next to her, he reached out with his left hand. She struck out with her right hand, intending to hit him, but he grabbed her hand before she can. And that's all the opening he needed.

"Stop fighting." He said to her.

She felt her body relax, the fight seep out of her bones. It confused her. Every fibre in her bones was screaming at her to fight back but somehow she couldn't. His hand still had hers firmly in a tight grip. That's when it all made sense to her. Somehow this boy was controlling her.

"How?" She asked in confusion.

"Like I said. I have ways to make you cooperate." Dr Javier said with an evil grin.

He gave the redhead a firm nod.

"Where is your daughter, Dr Keller?" The redhead asked.

"I don't know." She found herself responding.

"Think harder. Tell me where she is." He persisted.

"I don't know." She said.

She could not control her own responses. Her body was like a puppet, one under his absolute control.

"Please, I don't know anything. Please let me go." She pleaded.

He smiled kindly at her. Not that he meant it but because he was secretly enjoying his influence over her. Using his abilities, watching the look of desperation on his victim's face, it always gave him a thrill. It made him feel way more superior.

It couldn't be helped. His power was one of the few guilty pleasures he enjoyed. Even though they weren't natural. They had been born in this very lab. A result of genetics engineering. Simply put, his powers had been born of Michael's. After a couple of years Dr Javier - together with a team of genetic scientists - had figured out a way to transfer the mutant gene in Michael's body into another person successfully after numerous trials. Unfortunately, Zee had been the only one to survive that procedure.

Of course he wasn't complaining. He would do it all over again given the chance. He had been a nobody before. A sickly nobody plagued by a rare type of cancer and he'd had no one to care for him. He'd been dumped at  orphanage as a baby and when the cancer had surfaced the orphanage hadn't had enough money to afford the specialized care he'd required. And then Doctor Javier had come along. Zee would forever be grateful to him because that day he had not only saved his life, he'd also given him a new one.

Hurting people was a small price to pay for the gift of life he'd been given. If it pleased his master then it pleased him. If it didn't, then he had to deal with it. Like he was dealing with this stubborn woman.

Carefully tucking a strand of blond hair behind her ear, he forced her to look up at him.

"See, I don't believe you." He said with a smirk. "Maybe you don't know where your daughter is but I believe you have a clue where she went. So tell me, Dr. Keller, where else can your daughter possibly have gone?"

"We have a farm. A couple of miles south of our home." She immediately said.

He could see she was trying to keep from saying anything but she couldn't. Not even if she tried. He turns to face Dr. Javier who smiled at him before he turned back to the woman.

"Tell me everything about this farm." He said to her.
