I've always had a sort of connection with time. Not surprising since it is what makes me 'Abnormal'. Not manipulating time or anything. It's kind of weird how it works. I know when to do things. That's the exact reason I joined Orchestra. I know the exact time I'm supposed to play the notes. Because of that I'm the second best in my class. The first is Melody whose abnormality is literal music. She can turn music into deadly weapons. She's also a perfectionist so when she does use her power her music can't be random it needs to be perfect. Even though I think she's stuck up I can't say that to her because she's dating my best friend Jake. Jake has five golden tails. They are prehensile and weapons which are really useful.
     I was in Orchestra playing my viola when the announcements came on. This was weird since Orchestra is my fifth period.
     "Attention students there is a Class C Fire in the building. I repeat Class C Fire evacuate immediately!" Principal Johnson didn't need to tell us twice. We locked down the doors and took our defensive positions. Class C Fire meant Hell Fighters. I took my viola bow and ducked down next to the door. I could hear footsteps and knew they were 3.7 seconds away. I heard Melody start playing "Hall Of The Mountain King" on her flute she had in her backpack. Not the best to play a song that starts slow when there are Hell Fighters coming toward us. I thought. I heard a bang on the door. I knew it was five seconds till they broke through so I held up my fingers. Five. Four. Three. Two. One. Zero. On cue the door broke down and I slid my bow through one of the Hell Fighters throat. There were 3 more but I knew more would come soon. It was at this time Melody's song started speeding up. A sound wave hit one of them separating the top and bottom half of them with a clean cut. I stumbled backward hoping they were to distracted to see me. They weren't.
     I saw one of their guns aimed at me. Right before they pulled the trigger a tail pierced them right in the heart. I had no time to thank Jake before the back door to the class busted open. Ten more Hell Fighters filed in. My backpack. I dashed to my backpack in the back of the room. In it I found my knives from Principals Of Food class. I grabbed my serrated knife and five butter knives. I ran at one them piercing my butter knife through their helmet into their eye. They screamed and stumbled backwards. All of a sudden I heard a scream and looked back to see Melody in the arms of one of the Hell Fighters with a gun trained to her head. I looked around, he was the last Hell Fighter. He pulled down his helmet to reveal Dave, Jake's step dad.
     "Jake stop this now and you and all your friends can be free. You can live your lives under the protection of the Military. It would be the best for everyone." He shouted it like it was more of an order than a proposition.
     "And if I don't?" Questioned Jake
     "Well then a bullet goes straight through your dear Melody's brain" he pushed the barrel deeper in the head.
     "DON'T DO IT JAKE HE'S CRAZY DON'T DO IT!" Melody screeched while kicking and thrashing at Dave. That's when I noticed one of Jake's tails going down his leg into the ground. I could only assume he was about to pierce it through Dave's skull. He's not really going to take up his offer is he I thought. The ground started rumbling and that's when Dave had a look of realization on his face.
     One of Jake's tail shot up through the ground and went straight through Dave's skull. I knew it was perfect timing. The gun fell right out of Dave's hand and only shot Melody's kneecap. She dropped almost as quickly but she would live. All I knew at that moment was that my class survived I wasn't sure about the other ones and at that moment I didn't really care.
     "Ken come here quick!" I heard Jake yell my name and ran over to him. "How long does she have to live?" He pointed to Melody.
     "3 more days if we don't get it treated don't worry we have plenty of time." I looked around the room and saw that Miss Gelroy was nowhere to be seen. Of course she's not I thought she can't stay around when we're killing Hell Fighters. We rushed Melody to the Med Tech area of the school. Right now High School students were the best we could do since if we went to a Hospital we would need to explain she was shot by Hell Fighters. While they were fixing up Melody me and a couple of other students went around and and counted casualties and the amount of people captured. At the end of the day we found out that out of our 1000+ student school we were down to just 253 students. The world wanted a cure, but now they've started a war.
