A Hunt Gone Wrong
(Long, beautiful chapter written by Ash and with little little dialogue help from me. He is coauthor, y'all. Until later...)
About a week later, Blue and Meep went out on the hunt that Ash and Tenny had promised them. Tenny, of course, was very reluctant to let them out on their own, especially for the hunt they were going on--Wendigos. But, because of their constant begging and Ash's reassurance that they would be okay, she gave in, and they were heading out within the week.
Blue looked over at Meep, who was curled up in the passenger seat of the SUV. "We have everything, right? Before it's not too late to turn back?"Meep thought for a second and nodded. "We have everything--NO! WAIT! I forgot your kibble!"Blue gave her a hard glare before turning back to the road. Meep grinned, grabbing the small blanket from the glove compartment and putting it over her legs, getting comfortable.
"We're listening to music."
"I swear, you start playing the same Hamilton soundtrack, I will pummel you." Blue growled as Meep goes to insert the disk.
"Fine, what can we listen to?"
"I don't know."
"Fine, then." Meep grumbled, leaning back in her seat.
"This better be a shorter ride than we think it is. Cause I'll go insane." Meep mumbled and Blue glared at her.
"You already are."
"Touche." Meep replied, curling back into the seat and watching out the window.

Tenny turned to Ash, raising her hand and rubbing her mother's locket between her thumb and her pointer finger. "Ash, I don't like this."
"They're going to be fine." He reassured her.
"Blue's barely a year out of highschool! Meep's still in! They're younger, they have less experience--!"
He grabbed her shoulders, shaking her a little. "Ten, look at me. They're going to be fine. And if they aren't, which is not very likely, I will take care of it. Got it?"
She nodded, silently. "Ash, if they get hurt, or end up dead--"
"Sh, sh, sh. Don't think about it." He said, quietly. Even though he was trying to reassure Tenny, these thoughts plagued him, too. All he could imagine was one of them tied up, dead and bloody. And it broke his heart.
(TIME SKIP BROUGHT TO YOU BY...I DONT KNOW)
The Wendigo hunt was in Chattahoochee National Forest, in Suches, Georgia. Some campers had gone missing, their campsite ripped to shreds. It didn't hold much, it could've been a wolf or a bear, but the fact that the bodies were gone altogether, leaving no trace, is what tipped them off.
Once they got to the motel, both of them collapsed onto their bed. It was cheaper to get one bed, and the didn't mind sharing. Blue looked at her.
"You kick me, I'll bite. Got it?"
Meep laughed and nodded, rolling onto her side, grabbing a pillow and putting it under her head. Blue rolled their eyes, rolling over and curling into a ball.
When they woke up in the morning, they both ate, quickly, and set out to the forest. They knew where they were going, having a map and knowing what campsite the group had been at.
"Whoa." Is all Blue said when they arrived at the campsite.
Torn cloth was strewn everywhere. Blood was splattered in too many places to count. Ashes from the fire had been dispersed, kicked around.
Meep looked at Blue. "Where do you think we go now?"
"Venture around a little, try to find their nest. Mostly caves. So, follow the mountain."
Meep nodded, and they set off into the forest.
"If you hit me with that stick, I will bite your head off." Blue growled, taking a step back from the stick-wielding Meep, who laughed.
"Fetch, doggie!" She exclaimed, throwing the stick.
They growled, walking off into the forest on their own.
"You're going to wrong way, Uboo!" Meep called.
No response.
"Uboo?"
No response.
An unsteady feeling settled in Meep's chest. "B-Blue? If this is a joke, stop it."
A banshee-like screech filled the air, and Meep heard Blue's scream behind it.
"BLUE!" Meep shouted, running out in the direction that Blue had gone in. She found bloody scratches on the bark of a tree, but besides that, and some kicked-up foliage, there was nothing.
Knowing that Tenny wouldn't approve of her rushing into the Wendigo cave, and that she'd probably get overpowered, she ran back the way she and Blue had come, sprinting. Branches and other things nicked her skin, but she didn't care. She just had to get in the open, at least. When she got to the campsite, she turned into a Redtail Hawk, shooting up into the sky and rushing home.
(TIME SKIP BROUGHT TO YOU BY HUNGER)
Meep haphazardly dropped down from the sky, turning back into a human. She rushed into the Facer house, scaring the every-living shit out of Tenny, who flung her glass of iced tea. The tea went everywhere, but Nikki and Taylor lunged for the glass before it could shatter. With their teamwork, they managed to get it.
"Where's Blue?" Ash asked, closing his book. He got up, tossing it onto the couch as he ran up to Tenny and Meep.
"B-Blue got taken by the Wendigos!" That was all Meep was able to gasp out, doubled over as she gasped for air, wheezing.
Tenny's eyes widened, sudden tears clouding her vision. Ash immediatly ran out of the door, grabbing his leather jacket, and going to the garage.
"What's he doing?" Nikki asked from the living room, in Blue's blanket nest. They had tried to keep her out of it, but to no avail.
Tenny shrugged, and quickly ran out after him, Meep following. In the garage, Ash was putting throwing knives in an old weapons belt, his spear laying on the table. He wasn't sure if he was going to take it, since he knew he would be in a cave. It wouldn't be the most practical decision, even if it was his best weapon. He decided against it, putting a quiver full of arrows over his back, putting his arm through the bow.
"What are you doing?" Tenny asked.
"I'm going after Blue, what does it look like?" He snapped, scanning the space for anything he might need.
She shook her head. "I'm going with you."
Ash walked over to her, taking her hands. He made them both disappear, teleporting just as demons could.
He appeared again-- he let Tenny show up somewhere else in the caves-- crouched under a wedge of wet stone in the Wendigos' cave. He angled his shoulder down, sliding the bow off of it. He turned it in his fingers, drawing an arrow out of the quiver and notching it. He peered out of his little alcove, seeing a moving, thin shadow. He pointed the arrow at it, and shot. The monster screeched and flailed, but it started to turn to dust because of the flame-enchantment Ash had on these particular arrows. Like Crowley, he knew all about witchcraft; even more than the King of Hell, really.
Tenny gripped her flare gun in her hands, her steal knife strapped to her belt. She peered behind the rounded stone corner, seeing Blue's body and the ones of the campers tied up, their arms pulled above their head. She scoped for the monsters, and seeing that there was none, she darted out, over to Blue. She took the knife out of her belt, and got to slicing the ropes. She caught them in her arms, grunting, and sitting them down on the ground. Her hands started to glow a soft gold, and she was then set on healing the hybrid that she loved like her own child.
Ash dropped down from the high alcove, landing in a low crouch, soundlessly, on the damp stone floor. Something grabbed onto his ankle, trying to pull him off his feet. He looked down, his eyes flicking over to black. A vine had wrapped around his ankle, and was tugging at him. He grabbed an arrow, holding it right above the arrow head, and chopping it off. Then he was deafened by a screech from one of the monsters, and was pounced on.
Tenny let Blue go, who groaned. The wolf hybrid sat up, looking at Tenny. "What happened? Is Meep okay?" She asked, quickly.
"Meep's fine." Tenny said, soothingly. "She's safe at home. Come on, let's get these campers untied." She pulled Blue up onto their feet. They stood, swaying a little, but stayed on their feet.
Ash growled, and elbowed one of the monsters off of him. His elbow went through it's chest, as if his arm were a hole punch and the monster was paper. He kicked another one, his foot going right through it. He grabbed the free arrow, that he had used to cut the vine, and stabbed into one of the monsters. It screeched, making him wince, and went up in quick flames. He tugged it out, immediately stabbing one behind him in it's spindly neck. He rolled out of the way of claws that came out of nowhere as the one behind him burst into flames. He grabbed the antlers of another, pulling himself up and over it, pushing it into the floor with his weight, crushing the bones in it's head and neck. He glared at the other monsters with his black eyes, making a clicking growl in the back of his throat, baring his teeth.
Tenny and Blue managed to get the three campers back into the woods, just outside the cave. Tenny leaned her person against a tree trunk before turning back to the entrance, almost running back in. Blue caught her arm. "Ten, what're you doing?"
She yanked her arm out of their hand. "Ash is in there." She said. "I have to go help him."
"You know he can handle himself. You know that more than anybody. Remember the time he snapped a vampire's neck and almost crushed his skull just for saying the wrong thing to you?"
Tenny nodded, silently. She did remember.
"He's got his own back. Now he doesn't have to worry about you, too--not that you can't look after yourself, but Wendigos are tricky. We all know this." Blue said.
Tenny sighed, nodding again.
Ash kept his gaze on the Wendigos, reaching to the side for his fallen bow. He kept glaring at them, clicking at them when they tried to get near him. They backed off whenever he did. He reached over his shoulder for an arrow. He notched it, drawing it back and aiming. He shot, and one of the last three monsters burned. The other two screeched at him, but he kept from flinching. He growled at the them, aiming another arrow and shooting. It went down in flames.
Tenny started to pace, waiting for Ash to get out. She had healed the campers, who were now heading home. Blue sat on a tree root, looking up at Tenny with wide eyes. Their ears were perked up, alert, their beanie in their clenched fist.
Ash pointed his drawn arrow at the last Wendigo. He grinned. "Boo." He taunted, and shot.
And then his skull seemed to split and he saw nothing but flames.
(Boom, cliffhanger. So yeah, *nods* t'is all. Until later...)
