create a manipulation representing a scene from one of your favorite books (I have too many)

this represents one of the beginning scenes in Divergent, the Choosing Ceremony. I decided to represents this with the Dauntless coals and the birds, which represent Tris' family and, by extension, the internal struggle between loyalty to her faction or blood or both.

fun fact: the smoke photo in this image was overlayed into the final product twenty four times.
