CHAPTER NINE
Rita's POV
"Home sweet home." I whisper to myself as I look outside the window, watching the jet land.
After three weeks of being away from my home country, it felt good to be back and off this jet that had my body wrung tight. I looked to the seat beside me to see a dozing Cameron.
The sight brought a smile to my face. He looked so peaceful and calm that I was reluctant to wake him up from sleep when we were clear to go but it had to be done. I touched his arm and shook him a bit. "Cameron."
He groaned before opening his eyes to look at me. "What's wrong?"
"Baby, we just landed." I inform him.
He looks outside the window before sitting up and wiping at his eyes.
A few minutes later, we are on our way out and after dealing with customs, we began the drive to our new home. I had had it decorated to my taste earlier and even after we left to the island of Turks and Caicos for our honeymoon, the work was still ongoing. But I was told a couple of days ago that everything was finally finalized and our stuff, settled in. When we arrived, the gate was opened by a gateman who Cameron had hired.
"Welcome home, baby." Cameron whispers into my ear as the driver pulls into the compound, wrapping his strong arm around my waist and pulling me closer into him.
The sated grin on my face couldn't be removed.
My parents had invited us for dinner so by 7 pm, we began the drive to Banana Island. The car ride was quiet as we were both tired and jet lagged.
Finally, we arrived at their house. Mom immediately came out to greet us, pulling me into a tight hug. She then pulled away and looked at me thoroughly. "You're glowing." She notices.
I blush before looking up at Cameron shyly. He has on a grin that we both know the meaning of. All through our flight, he had slept because I hadn't exactly been going easy on him, not that he ever complained. Over the past three weeks, ever since we had sex the first time, we almost didn't stop, only taking breaks occasionally to eat and at least appreciate the gorgeous environment we were in just a little. Hence, the glow, I guess. But my mother didn't need to know that.
She pulled me into the house where my father is surprisingly seated, going through his phone. My parents had invited us for dinner doesn't mean that I had actually expected my father to be here. The old man was hardly ever in the country.
I give him a hug and quickly find my way to Rachel's room. She's blasting music from a speaker and preoccupied on her laptop so she doesn't notice me come in until I touch her shoulder lightly. She jumps up a bit before turning to look at me.
"Riri!" She exclaims before engulfing me in a tight hug.
"Can't b-breathe." I choke out dramatically and she laughs before pulling away.
"When did you guys return?" She asks me before sitting down and going back to whatever she was doing on her laptop.
"Earlier today. I am so tired." I say with a small yawn following it as I lay on her bed.
"You must be." Rachel says with a smirk.
"Girl!" I exclaim with a laugh.
"What? It's true, isn't it? I hear newly married couples can't keep away from each other. Matter of fact, I'm sure you're thinking of him right now even though he's just a couple of rooms away." She says ending with a wink before facing her laptop again. I can't help but laugh loudly.
This sister of mine is a case.
Finally, it's dinner time and we all gather around the dining table and are served by the maids. We say a brief grace before digging in. There are several delicacies spread out before us but I plate for myself a small helping of fried and jollof rice with some grilled chicken.
"So, how is that new contract coming along?" My father asks Cameron making me look up at him in mild confusion.
When I came down for dinner, I had seen them discussing animatedly so if they had already talked about business, why bring it to the dinner table? Besides, we had only just returned today.
"Yara." My mom scolds him, with a frown. "Not at the dinner table."
Cameron chuckles before replying curtly anyway. "It's going well, sir."
I roll my eyes at them. I hope this wasn't my father trying to mold Cameron to become like him and be all about business because I won't have it. I know what my mother went through with my father from her complaining to me in her moments of weakness about his constant absence and I wouldn't stand for that in my own marriage.
Thankfully, for the rest of the dinner the business talk in suspended and mom catches us up on what has been happening since our absence, amongst other things.
Halfway in, Cameron's phone goes off but I see him reject the call. "Who is it?" I ask him lowly.
"Work." He whispers, pressing a small kiss to the side of my head before rejoining the ongoing conversation.
His phone goes off again and this time with a huff, he excuses himself to take the call.
"I hear your friend, Temi, is opening up a spa business." Mom says.
"Oh, yes." I reply proudly. "The opening is next Saturday."
Temi has always wanted to own her own businesses and this was a start of great things to come for her so I am so proud of her.
"Do I get a family and friends discount?" Rachel asks excitedly.
"I don't know." I reply with a chuckle. "That's up to Temi. Why do you want one anyway? What do you do with all of your money?"
"I have several expenses in case you didn't know." She replies in a diva fashion with a devious smile gracing her lips.
"Like going to parties and other outings with your friends?" Mom asks with a small laugh.
"Why, Yes." Rachel agrees proudly. "I won't be a teenager forever, you know."
My Mom laughs it off while Dad just shakes his head, keeping quiet. I'm surprised at that. Normally, he would go into a long pep talk on how Rachel wasn't setting her priorities straight and then compare her lifestyle to his when he was her age. I'm glad he's quiet though. Maybe he's finally giving her some space to breathe and do her thing.
Finally, Cameron returns to the table looking very annoyed. "What's wrong?" I ask him quietly when he is sitted.
He pulls my hand into his and lays a firm kiss on the back of it. "Nothing, baby." He says but I assume it's work related so I let it go.
We finish dinner and begin the long drive home. The car ride this time is more interactive and when we are home I rush to take a quick shower, wanting to head straight to bed with Cameron.
After my shower and getting dressed, I find the room empty so I go to seek out Cameron who I find in his study.
He is nose deep in documents and I almost feel bad for keeping him away from work for all these weeks. Almost but not quite.
I walk over to him and touch his shoulder, he looks up at me clearly having been too distracted but what he was reading to notice my entry.
"You know, technically, this is the last day of our honeymoon and it hasn't actually ended." I tell him and I seat on his table and cross my legs, making sure that the short red silk nightie runs up my leg a bit, exposing my thighs.
As expected, his eyes are immediately drawn there before he rubs at his forehead with his thumb and index finger. "I know, baby."
"Good. Now come back to bed. That can be done tomorrow but right now, this woman needs her husband." I say, making sure that he knows what those needs are.
"Your wish is my command." He says with a grin, standing up to kiss me. "I'll be up in a minute."
"Okay." I say before taking my leave.
Once in my room, I take off the nightie before slipping into the bed and waiting for Cameron to come ravish me. And that is exactly what he does all night long.
