Hate
So this is a writing prompt that my best friends friend came up with. This is a fanmade work that I receive no profit from, and I do not own these characters, DC does. The writing prompt was, "Not everyone hates you."
"What do you mean? Do you love me or something?"
"I don't love you but I don't despise you."
So I just used it as an excuse to write slight Dami fluff. Here are the ages!
Dick:18
Jason:17
Tim:15
Damian:13
Jason's POV
Dick and Tim had gone out of the house with Alfred to go shopping, which left me babysitting the demon brat. I was sitting on the couch, reading fanfiction of us. Demon brat was....somewhere. I heard a really loud thump. I jerked, expecting a cuss word. I got slightly worried. I walked upstairs, to where the thump was. Damian was sitting on the floor of his room.
"Is something broken?" I asked uncertainly. He glared at me.
"No." He said curtly. He looked upset.
"Why did you fall?" He glared at me.
"I fell off the bed." He told me. I raised my eyebrow.
"You. An assassin. Fell. Off the bed." I said, disbelievingly. He frowned and nodded slightly. I sighed slightly and turned to leave, since he was obviously fine.
"Everyone hates me." I heard a small voice say behind me. I stopped in shock. I turned back and gave him a incredulous look. To have him showing this bit of weakness is just.....wow. I hesitated. I'd never had to comfort someone before, not really. I would just tell bad jokes and it would be better. I could tell that that was not going to work with demon brat. I felt slightly honored that he chose to open up to me. Not Dick, who he was closest too, not Bruce, who he admired more that anything, but me. I walked over to him and squatted down.
"Not everyone hates you."
"What do you mean? Do you love me or something?"
"I don't love you but I don't despise you." He glared at me. I sighed.
"Look, what about Bruce?" I asked.
"T-t. He doesn't want me here. I can tell. I've been taught to read people all of my life." I started to argue and stopped. I could tell too. In every fake laugh, forced smile, weary expression, and start whenever the Demon did something, I could tell.
"What about Dick?" He looked hesitant.
"He-he hates me too." He told me. I shook my head.
"What evidence is there to support that?" I asked him.
"He doesn't spend time with me anymore. He spends more time with other friends. Like Harper, West, Gordon, Drake, you." He glared at the floor. I smirked slightly.
"That's because you always tell him to leave you alone. I think he too those words to heart. Plus, you've been locking yourself in your room. That's a basically telling him that you want to be left alone." I told him.
"T-t. Whatever. If he actually loved me, he'd know that I don't mind it coming from him." He scoffed. I stood up.
"You can tell him when he gets home. Greet him with a hug or call him by his real name or something." He looked away. I sighed.
"Meanwhile, do you want to play a game? Monopoly or Settlers Of Catan? Anything like that?" I asked. He stood up.
"I'll play Monopoly. Prepare to lose." He walked out of the room. I laughed and followed him.
"In your dreams, Demon brat!"
