As the sun set it casted large shadows beyond what she could see. Darkness rose, sending prey in their burrows or the rivers and ponds as she heard them scufflings around, the waterfall starting to calm.

Honeypaw and Leopardfur were heading back to camp after a long day of looking at all the borders. She couldn't really remember anything, but the story of HedgeClan. She wanted to learn more, there was something they were missing and it was a mystery to be solved. Though, there was one issue, if she wanted to figure out this mystery she would have to cut low on her training, though, there was also the prophecy.

I'm not sure what to pick, she thought, anger surging her pelt.

She was tied to two things that were both very important to her, but also to her Clan. But yet again, if she found out HedgeClan's mysteries perhaps that could prove to the Clan that she was loyal?

"—alright Honeypaw?"

She snapped back into reality at the voice of her mentor. "What, sorry I wasn't listening," she panted, catching up once again.

Leopardfur stopped and looked at her, his amber eyes casting worry. "You seem very odd lately, is there something you need to tell me?" he asked honestly.

"N—no..." she lied, curling her tail. She didn't want to lie to her mentor, though, she didn't want to tell him anything she was thinking about.

Leopardfur took a deep breath and sighed. "Honeypaw I know there's something wrong. I'm your mentor, you can tell me anything you know," he pressed. "I think you're a really sweet cat and you don't deserve to be upset."

Honeypaw shook her head. "It's nothing, really."

Ashamed, Leopardfur turned back around and started walking once again, Honeypaw following behind.

As they walked Honeypaw felt the sudden urge to tell him, but it was too late as they neared the camp. She saw Goldenpaw talking with Whitepaw, but no where did she see Leappaw.

Hm, that's weird, she thought, questioning her sister, what are they talking about.

Honeypaw started parting away from Leopardfur until he touched her shoulder with his long, sleek tail. "I'll see you at sunrise again, and remember, if you need anything you can talk to me," with that he parted away, going to talk with the other warriors.

She bounded over to Goldenpaw and sat, the two cats stared at her with happy eyes.

"Hey Whitepaw, Goldenpaw," she said as she looked at both cats.

Goldenpaw rolled her eyes. "Honeypaw get a life and go talk to someone else," she snarled.

The feeling of betrayal pricked her heart, what had she done to be hurt by her own sister? "Uhm, sorry, was I interrupting something?"

"Well yeah, don't you see me and Whitepaw were having a deep conversation?" Goldenpaw groaned, smirking with satisfaction as Whitepaw looked down to his paws, embarrassed.

Honeypaw gaped open her mouth, but nothing came out, there was nothing she could say. She lifted herself to her paws and looked over to Whitepaw who still had his head down, cleaning his paw with vigorous licking.

"Talk to you later mouse-brain," Goldenpaw replied, laughing hysterically.

Honeypaw started at her sister with disbelief, mumbling under her breath as she stormed off toward the elders den. First things first, she would ask the elders all they knew about HedgeClan.

She walked over to the elders den which was right next to the nursery. It had a large log in front of it, it was a large up slant just like the nursery. She walked inside, the smell of various types of flowers rushing up into her nose. Luckily, both Lightningspot and Violetfern were awake, chattering amongst themselves.

"Hello," she meowed respectfully, dipping her head in greeting.

Violetfern was the first to see her, lifting a paw as greeting. Lightningspot looked over too, doing the same thing the she-cat did.

"Greeting Honeypaw," Violetfern greeted. "Sit down, take a break, we love visitors don't we Lightningspot?"

Lightningspot tilted his head, his hearing must've been receding from old age. "What was that you said Violetfern?"

Violetfern rolled her eyes in a playful annoyance. "You see, Lightningspot's hearing has gone terrible every since he came in the elders den."

"I heard that you know," the old tom growled.

Honeypaw purred with amusement, waiting for the cheerfulness to die down before asking the question. "I have a quick question about a Clan long ago."

Violetfern hesitated. "What Clan would you like to learn about?"

"If you don't have an answer for this it's alright, but do you happen to know a Clan by the name of HedgeClan?" she asked.

Violetfern and Lightningspot exchanged nervous glances. "HedgeClan? Are you sure you're thinking of the right Clan?" Violetfern replied.

Honeypaw sighed. "Yes, HedgeClan. Please, I want to learn more and you two probably know what happened during that time, you're my only hope."

Violetfern shook her head slowly. "Sorry, must be the wrong—"

"Just tell her," Lightningspot interrupted.

Violetfern shuttered, it seemed as if all the memories were flooding back. "Well, I was just a small kit at the time, but this is what I remember," she started as Honeypaw settled in, looking around to make sure no one was listening.

"Every sunrise the camp would get fresh-kill, like we do now, and bring it to the fresh-kill pile which was right outside the camp, which was a terrible idea. Though, every time a cat ate a piece of fresh-kill there would always be one sick cat and they became so sick that they would keep throwing up and they would eventually die after all the pain they had been suffering," pain seared her eyes.

Violetfern continued. "Though one day so many cats were dying from MossClan, TreeClan, and FlowerClan that they all began to suspect HedgeClan who lost no cats. So, three cats from each Clan set out to HedgeClan to figure out the problem, but only two cats remained, one from MossClan and one from FlowerClan."

Lightningspot nodded. "As a matter of fact my father was the one MossClan cat to survive," he added. "And also if you ever talk to Berrystar she is very strict, it's because she doesn't want any Clan to do things to TreeClan, mainly because none of the cats in TreeClan survived that mission."

Honeypaw gasped, she was learning so much about HedgeClan. The Clan was brutal, no wonder they banished them. "So that's why they banished them..." she mumbled.

Violetfern nodded. "Yes, after discovering that HedgeClan was poisoning all the Clans they decided to cast a vote, if HedgeClan should stay or be banished, but of course, they banished HedgeClan."

"What happened to all the cats?" she asked curiously.

Violetfern shrugged. "No ones really sure where any of the cats went, though, rumor has it that some HedgeClan cats still live to this day," she finished.

Honeypaw flicked her tail and dipped her head once more. "Thank you both for sharing with me I really appreciate it," she said.

"One more thing," Violetfern exclaimed. "Why have you asked?"

Honeypaw shrugged. "I went on a patrol today and noticed four trees gathered on the island. I asked Leopardfur and he told me about HedgeClan and I got really interested..." she hesitated. "Do you really think there're HedgeClan cats still roaming about?"

Surprisingly, Lightningspot was the one to respond. "I'm not sure, but I think that there in in fact HedgeClan cats living near their old territory on the opposite side of the gorge," he flicked his tail. "The quickest way to get across is by going to stepping stones, which are three large rocks jutting from the gorge. You'll have to leap across them to get to the other side. If you want to take the long way than you'll have to walk through both TreeClan and FlowerClan territory. Either way is dangerous."

Violetfern snorted. "Don't give her any ideas, she's just an apprentice."

"Thank you Lightningspot, and you too Violetfern, and don't worry, one day I will found out if HedgeClan is really still here."

"Good luck," Violetfern meowed. "And May StarClan light your path." Lightningspot nodded in agreement.

Honeypaw dipped her head. "May StarClan light your paths, also."
