>Flashback<
"JJ! PUT HIM DOWN!" Mrs. Gilld roared across the canteen.
I watched the vulnerable, black haired boy struggle in my grasp, gapping for air. I glanced at my teacher and laughed bitterly.
"No." I replied firmly, smirking as Vikk's face began to turn a cherry red.
Everyone was watching on, fearing for him and fearing of me, I loved that power.
"Let go of him, NOW!" Another teacher demanded, it didn't phase me.
His body was beginning to turn limp and his eyes started to roll back. My fingers dug deep into the skin around his neck, all my force focused on chocking him out. Smalls cuts now oozing crimson red fluid, staining his light brown skin.
In a final attempt to strangle free, his hands latched to my arm and grabbed at me. His troubled gasps escaping his dry lips and eyes turning red from tears.
"J-j p-p-please..." he cried.
The kids that swarmed around me began screaming and yelling, causing a mass of staff to draw to the situation. They were only now deciding to take action, I sighed dryly.
This was his fault,
this was his punishment.
"VIKK!" A young boy with a pale compelection and light brownish hair emerged from the crowd, immediately I recognized him as Harry Lewis.
Teachers had now began to try and ply me from Vikk, who was now almost completely passed out in Harry's arms.
"JIDE. LET GO!" Mr. Lager remarked, I rolled my eyes, letting my fingers slip from the boy only for him to tumble lifelessly back into Harry.
Harry seemed an absolute mess, but before I could catch another glimpse, I was being forcefully dragged along the ground and though the crowd by the head master.
I looked down to my fingernails, still the smell of red liquid lingering with the few splotches that remained on my skin.
>end of flashback<
"Jide? JIDE! You okay, man?" Harry asked, shaking my body to snap me back to reality.
I'd stopped walking along the path and was still feeling dazed by the memory that seemed to play before me.
"Y-yeah, bro. Fine." I snapped at him.
Hesitating slightly, I began walking again, feet moving in time with Harry's.
Harsh rays of afternoon sun seemed to glisten upon us, leaving a golden residue to lay thickly on the ground. It was simple and nice. It made me feel at peace with myself for just a fraction of time.
"Hey, it's okay. The place is just up the road." Harry chimed, smiling at me fondly.
He knew my disorder like the back of his hand, him having been one of my closest friends, and one of my only friends since the incident back in primary school.
"Okay." I responded, breathing in and calming myself.
I hated my ODD, it was so frustrating and annoying. And my parents, as well as family, were the ones to blame for my own inner torture.
My feet quicken in pace, so does my heart.
"Wait, so what is this place again?" I ask, not fully aware of what Harry was dragging me into.
"It's an old arcade. Been abandoned years ago, but thought maybe we could explore, ya know?" He smiled again, his eyes pooling with curiosity and compassion.
I couldn't help but smile as I looked at him, his dark blue shirt, classing against his light skin. It made him seem almost god like especially with the yellow rays of sunlight dancing along his features.
"Cool. How'd you find this one?" I shoved my hands into my jean pockets.
Pace, slower. Heart, returned to normal. Breathing, remember to breath.
"Passing though town the other day. Just having a sticky-beak at a new night club around the corner and saw the old sign still flashing from across the street. Thought you'd might wanna come check it out with me." He shrugged, eyes focused on the path ahead.
"Sick. So, this place is really dead, right? We aren't gonna get caught, right?" I questioned.
"Nah, mate. Place been dead for years. If there was anything of value in there it's well gone by now." He chuckled softly to himself.
"Okay. Good." I smiled gently, before glancing up the street.
The area felt oddly familiar and a tingling sensation washed over me. My mind lingering back to my previous thoughts of my diagnosis.
ODD, Other wise know as Oppositional defiant disorder, is a mental disorder typically implanted in a young child because of anything from bad parenting to sexual abuse in the household. Hence why I have it, My family.
Basically, Oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) is a childhood behavioural problem characterised by constant disobedience and hostility. The quality of parenting seems to be an important factor in the development of ODD. Treatment options include parent management training and family therapy. But seeing as my parents didn't bother with anything to cure my problem, it's began to turn into CD which is the blown up version of ODD. It means I'm dangerous, I'm a threat to anyone and everyone around me.
'Lying,
Being sadistic or cruel to animals and people,
Physically or sexually abusing others,
Law-breaking behaviours such as deliberately, lighting fires,
vandalism or stealing.'
These were all symptoms that followed ODD.
I sighed.
I wished my parents loved me more.
I wished I'd tried.
"We are here!" Harry glistened, nudging my side.
I pulled out of my own thought bubble and focused on Harry and the adventure he'd lead me on.
"Woah, this place looks epic...." I breathed as we stood in front of an old, broken down arcade.
Windows were smashed and the paint on the outside of the small building was faded, the walls covered by graffiti. Lights were flickering on the sign above which spelt 'arcade' but only the letters a, r and d were lit up in a bright red, the rest a grim grey colour.
"I know! C'mon, lets go!" Harrys smile spread from ear to ear, like a small child who'd been put in a candy shop and asked to pick all the candy he wanted.
I couldn't help but giggle at his childlikeness. He was adorable and I was forever grateful for him. I was lucky that whenever I was with him my ODD almost completely stopped.
He was with no doubt my best friend.
"Lets go." I agreed, as he took my hand and we clambered over the small fence that was blocking off the arcade.
It felt good for him to just be there with me, his hand in mine.
With a thud we landed on the grey gravel below and began to wonder into the unknown.
