Chapter Two
"Wake upppppppp."
Seriously. That's the first thing I hear after I'm rudely awaken by the feeling of ice cold water being poured on my body. I really hate Caiden. Like really really hate Caiden.
I'm planning his murder in my head as I roll over in bed and feel pieces of ice on it. Just a few more hours and I'm out of here I tell myself.
"Today I'll become Alpha and meet my mate and then I'll be seeing you later."
He says as he smirks looking my body up and down while licking his lips. Ew. That's a gross image. I don't respond verbally though. I just keep looking up at him with a blank stare waiting for him to leave.
When he realizes that I'm not going to respond, he continues.
"You should start preparing for the party today, making the food and what not. Make sure the place looks good else I'll be really rough with you tonight, even though you might enjoy that."
My wolf growls in my head. The thought of being with someone other than our mate disgusts us. Especially with someone like him.
He turns and leaves when I still don't respond to his taunting.
As soon as he's closed my door. I let out a sigh and get out of bed. I took off the wet sheets and my clothes, using them to clean up some of the water and ice that spilled on the floor during his little wake up call.
Don't worry my dear. We'll be out of here soon.
I hear my wolf say to make me feel better. Honestly she's the best. I don't know how I survived without her.
Also I know you do not like to be reminded but happy 18th birthday.
I thanked her in my head and then set out to start today's duties. She knows I don't pay attention to my birthday but this one I am happy for. I would leave this place.
After a quick shower and brushing my teeth, I headed down to the kitchen to get something small to eat quickly before I had to start.
I ate cereal with milk then headed outside to start decorations. I made sure the outside yard was looking nice and clean and the stages for tonight were set up.
I then went inside to begin cleaning the pack house. There were other houses on the pack land. Each person was responsible for cleaning their house so I didn't have to worry about that.
I cleaned the bathrooms, the living rooms, the offices, the bedrooms and then headed to the kitchen to begin preparing food.
There were others in the kitchen. I didn't have to do everything by myself but I had to do a lot.
The main cooks did what they had to and I helped by preparing dishes as well.
I made deserts and appetizers and other little things I knew the pack would have liked.
By the time we were finished cooking and making everything, it was evening time. The pack would start to gather soon for the ceremony so we quickly began carrying out the dishes to the tables outside and setting up.
After everything was laid out and covered up, last minute touches were added then we separated to get ready. Even though we worked together, they weren't friendly towards me. They didn't bother me today because we had no time to mess up. I was grateful.
I was stressed enough as it is thinking about my escape from this wretched pack. Shaking my thoughts from my head as I reached inside my room, I began packing away a bag with little necessities I would need.
I packed some clothes, a toothbrush, deodorant, a soap, a towel, pads and some money I had been saving up.
After that, I went to get ready for tonight. I took a bath, dried my skin, put on undergarments, threw my hair in a stylish but messy but with my curls falling in-front of my face a bit, put on a leggings with a white tank top and leather jacket then did some light make up.
You're probably wondering where I got some good clothes. Simple. I "borrowed" it from one of the rooms I cleaned. Nobody really pays attention to me when there's a celebration so I know they wouldn't recognize it.
After checking over myself in the mirror, I grabbed the bag I packed and left to hide it in the woods for later. After walking around a bit, I found the perfect hiding spot.
A nice tall tree with a lot of branches and leaves that would have the bag well hidden. I sprayed it with some human perfume to cover the scent and then left to go to the party.
When I arrived, I saw that the Alpha wasn't here yet meaning that Caiden's Alpha ceremony had not happened yet. Everyone was scattered around with cups in their hand talking to their friends or family members.
No one looked my way or paid me any attention. They were all too focused on the party and being happy that Caiden was gonna be Alpha.
I was glad. They usually glared or taunted me but I was good. It led me to think about my biggest tormentor and his plans for tonight.
Automatically my eyes searched for him in the crowd but was stopped by the smell of something delicious.
Mate is here.
Oh no. I groaned and my wolf growled in distaste in my head. Our wolf is in this pack. Meaning we were gonna have to reject him.
I was curious as to who he was though. I let my sense of smell direct me as I searched for him.
The moment my eyes landed on him, I knew he was gonna reject me and to be honest, I was happy about that.
I did not want him either. Not after everything him and his pack put me through. The beatings, the torture, the bullying and treating me like I was below their feet, below being an omega.
I waited patiently where I was for him to smell my scent and to come reject me. He would be in for a suprise.
I didn't have to wait long, as soon as my scent hit his nose he turned away from his group of friends and looked for his mate. Me.
When he saw me and realized that the sweet smell of his mate was coming from me, he was angry, infuriated even.
He stormed up to me, grabbing me by my throat and pulling my hair to make me look him in the eyes.
" I don't want filth like you as my mate! The moon goddess made a mistake! You're worthless and we both know that I'm not going to accept you." he said with so much rage as his eyes glowed.
" Good!" I spat.
" I Jade Valentine reject you Future Alpha of the Red Dawn pack as my mate and my right to be Future Luna."
Gasps could be heard from the pack as they realized what was going on and what I had just said.
This was the first time I'd spoken back to him in front of the pack and I knew I'd get the beating of my life especially since we now had the attention of the pack.
It was humiliating for him to not be able to reject a weakling like me. His eyes turned red from anger, his wolf knowing how he treated his mate and being angry at him, plus the human counterpart being highly upset at not getting to humiliate me.
" I CAIDEN WILLIAMS, FUTURE ALPHA OF THE RED DAWN PACK ACCEPT YOUR REJECTION AND REJECTION OF YOUR ROLE OF FUTURE LUNA! " he screamed in my face as his hold on my neck tightened.
Can you help me out here and lend me some strength to get out of his hold?
I pleaded to my wolf in my head. We had to escape.
I had disrespected him in front the pack but that wasn't the only reason to leave. I already had plans to leave quietly. I wouldn't be able to do that now. I would need to get out of his hold and run as fast as I could.
My wolf agrees and helps me as I knee him in the stomach and then in his no no square.
He dropped to the floor gasping in pain and I take off with lightening speed. I could hear him trying to command the pack in short breaths to catch me and not let me escape.
It took them a few seconds before they reacted, they were all in shock at everything that just occurred.
The time they took gave me enough time to reach a good distance ahead to run and climb up the tree to collect my bag.
I shifted as I held my bag in my mouth and sped through the forest. I would be crossing the pack borders soon and the pack link with me would be broken.
When a wolf leaves the pack lands without permission from the higher ups, their connection to the pack is instantly broken.
That's good for me. My wolf pushed on as we crossed the boarder, feeling the link break. I was relieved. She kept running as far and as fast as she could.
I could no longer hear footsteps or paws running behind us. We'd gotten far and had some good distance between us.
Once I crossed the boarder, the pack should have stopped following after me but then again, Caiden was probably seething and demanded they try to catch me.
They wouldn't though. My wolf was quick. Just to be safe, we passed through a river to wash away our scent then shifted and headed to look for one of the human cities.
Our scent would definitely be lost there. It would have too many for the pack to smell and they couldn't attack me in front humans.
Our pack was situated in Maine. I was going to leave the country and go to Canada, trying to create a good distance between me and my pack.
I had enough money to find a motel and stay in until I could get my passport and visa sorted. Once that was done. I'd get a flight to Canada and be a rogue there or hopefully find a pack.
I checked into the cheapest motel I could find under a fake name, sprayed human perfume all over me and behind me as I walked.
Once I reached my room, I took a quick shower and changed then went to lay in bed.
"I love you wolf. I'm so glad you support me and love me. You even let me reject our mate."
I said to my wolf out loud. I felt her roll over inside my head and waited for her response.
I love you too child. I am glad I got you as a human. You deserve a better life. Do not worry about mate. I only feel sorry for his wolf. You will get a better mate. Now do not think on it. Go to sleep. I will keep guard.
I smiled at her response and drifted to sleep.
