Chapter 10
Lucille's POV
The ship's halls echoed the sound of the alarm going off. The walls were illuminated by the red glow from the alarm.
"That trooper hit one of the thrusters!" Han yelled out in frustration.
"Argh!" Chewbacca growled.
I looked to the outside of the ship where troopers continued to fire upon us. We had to get out of here. We had no time to deal with Imperial soldiers. If we were going to train Luke in the ways of the Force, we had to at least do it while he was alive!
"Follow me!" I exclaimed, grabbing onto Ezra's and Luke's arms.
"Where are we going?" Luke asked.
"We need to distract the stormtroopers and give them enough time to get us another ship," I explained, gesturing towards Leia, Han, and Chewie.
"Good idea. Let's go," Ezra agreed, slipping past me out of the cockpit, grabbing onto two of his lightsabers he had hanging from his belt. Luke and I followed him out of the ship, racing down the ramp. I grabbed my double-sided blade as we ran, Luke grabbing his simple one-sided weapon.
The three of us engaged our weapons as we ran down the ramp. As soon as we stepped out, we were met with rapid blaster fire. Automatically, Ezra and I stepped into fighting stances we had learned from training in the war. Meanwhile, Luke simply stood and deflected, an obvious sign of no formal training.
Out of the corner of my eye, I could see as the three from the ship ran to the ship beside us, opening its ramp and running up.
"Luke! Go help the others! Ezra and I can handle this!" I exclaim to the blondie.
"On it!" he replies.
Ezra and I ran forward together into the squadron of about 20 troopers firing upon us, Kallus standing back aways. I continued to deflect with my lightsaber, while slashing at troopers who dared come too close.
Finally, the last stormtrooper fell and the only ones left alive were Ezra, Kallus, and myself. I disengaged my sabers, Ezra following suit, and clicked them onto my belt. The two of us looked to Kallus, who stood straight, waiting for our next move. I gave Kallus one curt nod before turning to the new ship we would be escaping with.
<~>
The stars blurred as we exited hyperspace. The ice planet of Ilum loomed before us as Han steered the ship toward the freezing planet. Currently, Han, Leia, and I were the only ones in the cockpit. I nodded to Leia before exiting the cockpit to inform the others we had arrived.
I walked into the common area to see Ezra and Luke engaged in a match of space chess with Chewie looking over them. "We've arrived."
"Good," Ezra said as he made the winning move in the game.
"Five times in a row? You are good," Luke said.
"Told you so," Ezra smirked.
"Get ready to go. It is going to be cold," I told the boys as I went to the loading bay to meet up with the others. After a few moments, Ezra and Luke joined us and we exited the ship together.
"This place is colder than Hoth!" Han exclaimed.
"Argh!" Chewie agreed.
"This where Jedi padawans would go to find their kyber crystals to build their lightsabers," Ezra explained. "It was known as the gathering."
"Just like the Jedi to pick the coldest place in the galaxy to get kyber crystals!" Luke exclaimed.
"Well, you have to go inside the temple," I said. "It is not as cold in there."
"Where exactly is this temple?" Leia asked.
"It is just over those hills," I said as I looked to my wrist computer. It did not take long for us to get to the temple. We entered into a grand room that was surrounded by giant ice slabs on all sides. The floor had intricate designs.
"Wow," Han breathed.
"Had the same reaction when I first saw the place," I commented.
"What do I have to do?" Luke asked as he ran his hand against the grand walls.
"We wait," Ezra said. Ezra kneeled down in the center of the room, meditating. I joined him as the others sat down awkwardly.
"Umm, wait?" Luke questioned.
Ezra, without opening his eyes, pointed to a opening high up on the wall. "The sun is not in the right position." His arm moved to show the wall in front of him. "The entrance to the caves are not open."
"You mean the door is frozen over?" Leia asked.
"Exactly."
"Great! Just great!" Luke said.
"Is there anyway that we could make the entrance open up faster? I don't know if you have realized this yet, but we just beat the Galactic Empire in an all out war! We have a capital planet to get back to and a galaxy to restore! We can not just be sitting around on an ice planet while there is work that needs to be done!" Leia exclaimed, annoyance lacing her voice.
"Patience," Ezra said, his eyes still closed.
"Jedi and their stupid virtues!" Leia said.
"I wouldn't say that. I am not a Jedi, but Ezra has been studying the Force for years originally under the care of a Jedi. He takes his values seriously," I informed Leia.
"This is getting us nowhere!" Han said.
The cave was silent until Ezra let out a sigh. I looked over to him, as I was still sitting right next to him. His eyes were still closed. I wasn't sure how he was feeling.
Suddenly, something made a noise on the other side of the room. I looked away from Ezra, Leia, Luke, Han, and Chewie doing the same. But, I saw nothing. I looked back to Ezra. I heard a gasp from Leia.
Ezra was gone.
"Where did he go?" Luke asked.
"Dastardly Jedi and their stupid tricks," I said.
