Chapter Two
Jason Bennet and David Petrelli
Odessa, Texas
Jason answered the door to see his not-so- favorite cousin, David Petrelli.
"Hello, David," grinned Jason.
"Long time no see, Jace," David replied. Jason frowned.
"Don't call me that." His cousin merely shrugged and invited himself in.
"Oh do come in," Jason growled in annoyance. His sarcasm was dripping almost like poison from his words.
"Don't mind if I do," David grinned cheekily. Jason sighed, slamming the front door shut.
"What do you want?" he hissed at his cousin. David sat down on the sofa and slapped a painting onto the table.
"I want you to help me save the world. And you can't say no. The painting says so."
Jason looked down at the painting. It showed himself and David, accompanied by nine others. They seemed to be somewhere in 2006, when David's father and Jason's sister first discovered their abilities.
"What is this?" Jason asked, shaking his head.
"The future," David replied. "So, are you in or out? I got a lot of people to see and places to be." Jason leaned back on his heals, letting out a loud sigh.
"Well, I guess I really don't have a choice, now do I?" David grinned.
"Great. Come on."
Val Knight
Somewhere in India
Exciting the plane, Val looked around for her ride. She spotted him a few feet away and made her way over.
"Vallory Knight?" he asked. She nodded.
"Matt Parkman," he introduced.
They got in his car and drove in silence for a while.
"Any place you want to go in particular?" Matt asked.
"Honestly," Val said. "I left on a whim. Completely a last minute thing."
"So you don't have anywhere to stay?"
"Not really. No."
"Okay," he said. "Then, you can stay with me and my husband."
"Husband?" Val asked. In response Matt just chuckled lightly.
When they arrived at the Parkman-Suresh place, a girl answered the door.
"Matt!" she smiled. "You're home!" She jumped into his arms.
"Hey, Molly," Matt smiled at his daughter. Two more children came in, another girl and a boy.
"Val, this is Matt Jr., Shanti, and Molly," Matt introduced. "Guys, this is Val. She's going to be staying with us for a while."
Val could feel the kids' confusion. It was understandable. She was probably confused herself, although it was difficult to tell her own emotions apart from others'. Why would Matt allow her, a perfect stranger to just waltz into their home and sleep on their beds?
Another man came around the corner and Val assumed this was Matt's husband. Mohinder, she had learnt his name was.
"Hello," he smiled kindly.
"Hey," Val said with a small wave.
"Molly, why don't you take your brother and sister to play in the other room," Matt suggested. "Let Val get settled in."
"Okay." And the Parkman-Suresh children ran off into the other room. This was going to be a very interesting visit.
