Chapter 1: Introducing Me

Hello, my name is Thalia Alton. I am 18 years old, living in an apartment in New York City. I waitress at Bubba Gump's Fish Fry and have a dog named Georgia. I love the color teal and have a crazy obsession with mint Oreos and Nutella. I have one relative, my Uncle Freddie who lives just outside of NYC in New Jersey. Georgia stays with him while I work and occasionally, when I'm off work I visit him for a weekend or so.

I smile as I look at my diary entry and close the book, admiring the beautiful diary Uncle Freddie gave me.

My mom was always big into writing everything down and making sure you have it when you're old so you can remember.

My Uncle told me all this about her since I was only five when she left me with Uncle Freddie and took off. And I haven't seen her since. Frankly, I don't care because if she didn't care about me enough to keep me, then I have no reason to waste tears and precious thoughts on her.

I snap out of my thoughts when I hear a knock on the door.

Georgia starts barking like mad as I try to push her into the bathroom.

Having a German Shepherd in NYC is Not easy.

I get her into the bathroom and quickly check myself. I adjust my tank top and smooth my hair before opening the door.

"Hey Tee..."

No.Fricken.Way.

"Parker?!" I squeal like a little girl as I jump on him, wrapping my arms around his neck, squeezing the life out of him.

"What the heck are you doing here?! Oh, I love ya! I love ya, little boy!"

He just chuckles as he hugs me back and sets me on my feet.

"You seem excited to see me." He states.

I jump up and down like a little kid,

"Of course!"

Why am I acting so strange you may ask? Well, Parker is my absolute best friend since Kindergarten and has saved my ass plenty of times. He was on a trip with some friends from college for four months.

He also lost his phone so I couldn't contact him for that long.

"Soooo..... Tell me everything that's happened!" I squeal as I pull him into the living room, plopping down on the couch.

He chuckles at me before telling me everything about his trip and about this Brazilian chic he met on the trip and how he got her number and that they might start seeing each other.

I punched his arm,

"My boy is becoming a man already! What's this chic's name?"

"Romina."

"Ah, interesting. I like it. So, when do you need to get back to West Virginia?"

"Two days."

"What?! We've got a lot to do then, mister."

He wiggles his eyebrows suggestively,

"Oh really?"

I punch his arm and he hisses, rubbing it like a baby.

"Oh, shut up ya grouch. Times Square or Chinatown?"

"Times Square. Chinatown scares the crap out of me."

"Okay, lemme go get Georgie." I say, getting up.

"Where is she? I haven't seen her in forever." Parker asks, following steps behind me.

"Bathroom." I say as I crack open the door.

Her snout comes out of the darkness, curiously sniffing and growling in excitement.

"It's Georgie!" Parker shouts enthusiastically as she pushes open the door and jumps on him.

I put a collar and a leash on her after she calms down.

"How about the dog park instead of Times Square? Georgie tends to scare a lot of people.."

"Sure," He says, looping his arm through mine as we leave my apartment and make our way down to the lobby.

"Hey Camille, if my uncle stops by, tell him I'll be at the dog park, okay?" I ask the sweet, old lady who works behind the desk.

She grins widely as she nods her head,

"You two have fun on your date."

I don't bother to correct her as I give her a smile and walk out the doors. We both burst out laughing.

"Haha, you ready, babe?" Parker jokes as we walk along.

"Don't push it, you bozo." I pull away from him, punching his arm playfully.

After walking and talking, we finally make it to the dog park. I let Georgia go as she goes and does her thing. I watch her as she runs up to a Siberian Husky. It was beautiful.

They automatically clicked and started playing. I started to run over as he started getting too friendly,

"Hey, get off my baby! You're gonna scare her!" I say as I push him off her.

Parker runs up laughing,

"Well at least she's fixed..."

I cross my arms over my chest as I look up at him,

"Yeah, duh."

We watch as the Husky walks off and runs to his owner.

H.O.L.Y C.R.A.P.

His owner looked like he just walked off an American Eagle poster. I quickly look away as he looks over at us.

"Parker, let's go. I'm pretty sure that hot guy over there saw me scold his dog." I grab his arm and drag him away, calling for Georgie to come.

I can't help but feel his stare on my back as we walk away...
