Story 4--Taking Flight
Guide:
(Y/N): Your Name
It was a beautiful day in San Fransokyo, and you took advantage of that by taking a nice walk outside, enjoying the sunshine. Birds chirped all around you, and the colourful flowers greeted you wherever you looked. Soon you reached the SFIT park and sat on a park bench, taking in the sights and sounds of the summer day, completely at ease. Well, maybe a little bit too much at ease, because all too soon you heard someone say "BOO" right in your ear.
You jumped, completely startled, only to find your best friend and crush, Hiro Hamada, smirking at you.
"Holy crap, Hiro!" you shrieked, laughing. "Don't you DARE...oh my god..."
"Don't I dare do what?" he smiled mischievously, sitting down beside you.
"Scare me?" you reminded him, frowning, crossing your arms.
"Ah, don't let your attitude ruin this perfect day," Hiro warned you. "Come on, weren't you completely happy before? Where is the happy (Y/N) I saw earlier?"
You finally gave in and smiled, playfully punching his arm. "Anyway, what brings you here today?"
"Just finished classes at SFIT," he said. "What about you?"
"I just about finished homework," you replied. "Might as well take advantage of this amazing day we have today."
Hiro nodded, closing his eyes and putting his arms on the back of his head. "Just imagine, only a few weeks left and we are in the summer holidays."
You copied his stance, giggling. "I know. A full two months of absolute bliss and relaxation. I'd like that."
The two of you sat there like that for a while. Then a bird flitted by and you sighed.
"If only...if only I can be as free as a bird taking wing, just flying through the air, seeing everything below," you murmured. "How amazing that would be."
What you didn't expect was for Hiro to hear you. "Wait, what did you say, (Y/N)?"
You jumped again, completely flustered. "Whoa, um, I didn't mean--okay I know it sounds stupid--"
"And possible."
Wait. Did he say flying was possible?
"You say flying is possible?" you challenged.
Hiro laughed and put an arm around you. "Don't get me wrong, (Y/N). It sounds amazing. And trust me, I know exactly how you would do that." When he saw your suspicious look, he added, "no planes involved."
"Surprise me then, Hiro Hamada," you smiled.
He stood up and extended a hand for you to take, which you did, scared that it would sweat so much due to nerves. The two of you then headed back to the Lucky Cat Cafe, and the entire time you felt electrical sparks fly through your arm and you felt like you were floating through air like a helium balloon.
Soon you reached the garage, and you caught sight of Hiro's older brother, Tadashi, working on his projects. He gave you and Hiro a quick wave.
"Back so soon, knucklehead?" Tadashi joked. "Ah, and I see you brought your girlfriend along."
"(Y/N) is not my girlfriend!" Hiro protested. "At least, um, not...yet?"
Tadashi laughed. "Hey, I'm just kidding around."
You blushed a bit. "Nice to see you, Tadashi," you said, regaining your senses.
"You too, (Y/N)," Tadashi smiled. "Just make sure you don't influence Hiro to do anything illegal."
"Trust me, he's in good hands," you assured him, squeezing Hiro's hand. "Right, Hiro?" you asked.
"Um, uh, yeah of course," Hiro stammered. "Now let's go find Baymax."
The two of you waved at Tadashi and went to the boys' bedroom. Then Hiro activated Baymax, and then told him what to do.
"I see," Baymax nodded. "Would flying around the city satisfy (Y/N)'s care?"
"Of course, buddy," Hiro smiled. "If there is anything that can satisfy me, it needs to satisfy (Y/N) too."
You looked absolutely confused as you listened to Baymax and Hiro talk. What does he mean, Baymax can fly? What's Hiro going to do, fill him up with helium or something?
Once they were done, you looked at them suspiciously. "Well?" you asked them, putting your hands on your hips.
Hiro smiled. "We've got to get suited up."
"Suited up? For an interview?"
Hiro shook his head. "I created this awesome super suit for Baymax so that he could fly anywhere. I have a suit to attach myself to him, but I'll need to make one for you too. Unless you don't want one, that's fine by me."
"Hmm...sure, you can make one if you can," you smiled.
"Great! I'll just get Baymax suited up, and then we can head down to the garage."
Then Hiro took your hand again (oh gods, Hiro...) and lead you and Baymax outside. You watched, fascinated, as he suited Baymax up, and then got to work with you. To your surprise, Tadashi was still there.
"Wow, Hiro, what's going on?"
"Just something cool for (Y/N)," he said. "Now get back to work, nerd."
Tadashi shrugged and did as he was told while Hiro got set to work with creating your suit. When he was done, you smiled at him. The suit was created with (F/C) armour and some flexible black fabric so that you can still bend your arms and legs and move around. "Hiro, this is amazing!" you exclaimed.
"Glad you like it," Hiro smiled. "Now put it on."
You did so, away from the boys, and to your surprise it fit.
"Stunning," Tadashi remarked, turning his chair around so that he could see you.
"Thanks Tadashi," you said, genuinely accepting that compliment.
Then Hiro turned to you, and grinned, wrapping his arms around you. You returned the hug, burying your head into his shoulder, your helmet clanging with his.
"You ready to make your flying wish come true?" Hiro whispered.
You nodded. "Yeah. Let's do this!"
The two of you let go and headed back outside, where Baymax was chasing a butterfly.
"FOCUS BUDDY!" Hiro cried to Baymax, who stopped and let the butterfly fly away. "We need to take (Y/N) on a flight, remember?"
Baymax nodded and activated his wings. "Ready, (Y/N)?"
You nodded.
Hiro then showed you where to put your arms and knees on Baymax's back, and then he followed suit, holding on to your waist from behind. You were slightly scared, but then Hiro reminded you, "don't worry, I'm the one who's not attaced to Baymax. I'll hold on to you. Trust me. I'll be fine."
You nodded. "Alright Baymax. Let's go."
"Full thrust!" Hiro commanded, and then Baymax took off.
You found yourself flying away from the Lucky Cat Cafe and into the sky, marvelling at the sight of the buildings and cars below you.
"Hiro, are you sure you're okay?" you asked, feeling the grip on your waist getting tighter.
"I'm fine!" Hiro assured you.
Baymax then went higher and higher, and then he started doing lots of tricks in the air. He brought you through lots of loop-de-loops, spins through the air, and even did the classic 90 degree rocket that made you laugh and Hiro scream as he held on to you for dear life.
"Baymax, can you find us a place to land?" you asked. "Hiro doesn't seem so good."
Baymax understood, and soon flew towards the zeppelins, where you and Hiro safely got off.
"Thank you so much, Baymax," you smiled as you gave him a big hug.
"Any time, (Y/N)," Baymax replied.
Hiro looked like he was going to faint. He staggered along for a bit, and was about to walk right off the zeppelin when you wrapped an arm around his waist, holding him back.
"You sure you're okay?" you asked him quietly. "You don't look so good."
Hiro just looked at you with a tired but happy look on his face. "I'm only okay as long as you're okay, (Y/N)," he simply said. "I'm just going to be honest with you when I say I'm sincerely and absolutely okay. Just a bit dizzy, that's all."
You smiled as you took off your helmet, and Hiro did the same. An awkward silence ensued. Even Baymax didn't say anything as he left you two alone.
"(Y/N), you know why I did this, right?" Hiro finally asked in a whisper, gently stroking a hand in your hair.
You shook your head. "Hmm. Let me think. You...wait, do you?"
"Do I what?"
You shook your head again, feeling the heat creep up on your face. "Do you...um...wow you know what, let's just get to the point. I--"
Hiro laughed as he caught your blush. "You do!"
"I do what?"
Hiro sighed as he cupped your face with his hands and pulled you in slowly. You immediately felt scared.
"What's wrong?" Hiro whispered now, his face so close to yours you were blushing so hard. You felt his breath on your face, your lips now two centimetres from his.
"I like you, Hiro," you whispered back, moving forward, closing the gap and Hiro's lips connect with yours. A few stunned moments pass as you two realized what just happened, but then Hiro started to kiss you back with more fervour, and you reciprocated with equal energy, your gloved hand running through Hiro's already messy hair to make it even messier, and Hiro's arms around your waist pulling you closer and closer to him. After a bit, the both of you pulled away, breathing hard.
Hiro then gave you a small smile. "I like you too, (Y/N). You figured it out."
You smirked. "Guess your brother isn't the only nerd around here, eh?"
Hiro laughed. "So you do. You do like me."
"Yes. And you like me too, right? What does that make you?"
Hiro pretended to think. "Hmm...your boyfriend?"
Your eyes widened, and then you squealed as you wrapped your arms around him. "I'd love to be your girlfriend, Hiro."
Hiro wrapped his arms around you in return, closing his eyes. Then you two pulled apart as Baymax spoke up.
"It is getting late," he said. "Shall we take (Y/N) home?"
Hiro looked to the sky. The sun was already setting by then, and it was already close to the horizon. "You're right, Baymax. Let's take her home."
The two of you then got onto Baymax's back at the same time, Hiro's arm on your waist as you both positioned yourselves on his back.
And the flight back home had never been anywhere more fun than you imagined.
