Story 58--Horror Gone Wrong

Guide:

(Y/N): Your Name

(A.N. I am NOT a huge fan of zombie shows, so I have never watched "The Walking Dead" or anything related to zombie apocalypses. Oh wait, scratch that! I have NEVER watched anything of the sort! I do, however, know a bit about them, having done a bit of research. Honestly, it gives me the creeps thinking about it, and knowing me and my liking for The Hunger Games, I think I might try something along their lines rather than try to go in an entirely different direction. So sit back, relax, and enjoy this request from piscesuzumaki.

PS If you don't understand the whole Wal-Mart thing...well, I did read about it in an article. NEVER go near a Wal-Mart under zombie circumstances. If you're confused, PM me, and I can try to clarify it.)

"Flesh...we smell flesh..."

A gentle hiss, more like a spooky chant, registered in your ears as you stirred, half-asleep and half-awake somewhat from a nap in your lab. You could have sworn this just came from your dreams, but who were you to lie? You barely ever had dreams in your naps.

"Blood...we smell blood..."

As the voices started to grow louder and louder you became suspicious, and reluctantly you opened your eyes. The sun was already down by now, which wasn't too surprising. Late nights in the labs at SFIT were common. But what was definitely abnormal was the fact that there were so many zombie corpses walking all over the street, and you squinted out the window, one hand on your backpack strap.

"Humans...we kill!"

"(Y/N)!"

You whipped your head around to see your best friend, Hiro Hamada, panting and out of breath as he reached your lab door, a crossbow and gun in hand.

"Why hello, Hiro," you started calmly, putting on your backpack. But Hiro shook his head.

"(Y/N), we need to get out of here," he said breathlessly, pressing the gun into your hand.

You glanced down at the weapon in confusion. Where did Hiro get this? "Uh, Hiro-" you tried again.

"No time for explanations!" Hiro cried, pushing you out of the lab.

"HEY HEY!" you screamed. "There are zombies outside too, you know!"

Now Hiro raised an eyebrow. "How did you know I was going to talk to you about zombies?"

You shrugged. "I always end up amazing others. But that's not important." You raised an eyebrow at him in return. "Why?"

Hiro pointed behind you. "Look at our friends," he whispered.

Once again you whipped your head...and almost screamed in fright at the sight. There, advancing quickly towards you, were your best friends-Honey Lemon, Gogo, Fred, Tadashi, and Wasabi, all with paler skin complexions and empty black eyes, blood dripping on their faces and arms and even strewn all over their clothes. As they advanced towards you, you and Hiro immediately tensed up and stood, shoulder to shoulder, you raising the gun up by your face and Hiro raising his crossbow up as well.

"Flesh...we smell flesh..." Gogo said in such a raspy, unrecognizable voice.

"Blood..." Tadashi added, in a deeper crackling voice that almost made your heart break. Tadashi, Hiro's older brother...and the rest of the gang...how could they suddenly be a part of the zombie apocalypse?!

"RUN!" you finally screamed, darting away from the slow-moving zombie gang, pulling Hiro in tow as your hand gripped hard on his, your feet taking you towards the exit of the lab.

Hiro immediately blushed as he registered the fact that you were holding his hand. "Hand...(Y/N), you're holding my hand..." he murmured in shock, though he managed to keep a straight face despite heat rising to his cheeks.

Upon hearing that, you resisted rolling your eyes. "Hiro, there are more important things right now than just me holding your hand!" you groaned. "It's either life or death, Hiro." That being said, you kicked the door of the Ito Ishioka Lab open with one foot, and then you pulled Hiro out into the night, your finger caressing on the trigger as you held the gun out in front of you.

"Flesh...blood...so fresh..." A voice moaned out.

BANG! A single shot from your pistol rang out in the dark, and soon you heard a THUD as the zombie was down. But looking beyond the zombie corpse, you knew you had bigger problems to deal with. There were more zombies than you could count...and that's just one thing. You and Hiro were outnumbered, two to probably the entire city.

"Now what?" Hiro cried, holding his crossbow up as he took down another zombie, shooting it straight into its heart.

You shook your head, unsure. "I have no idea..." you murmured, backing up to him so that you were standing shoulder to shoulder with him again, the zombie troupe advancing slowly towards the both of you.

"Follow me!" you cried, pulling Hiro again behind as you grabbed onto his hand, running through the zombie-infested streets. The chants of "Flesh...I smell flesh" and "Blood...I smell blood..." soon got to your brain, and you shook your head in a futile attempt to block out the sounds.

Soon, you reached a Wal-Mart up ahead, and you gasped, braking to a stop, unfortunately making Hiro topple over and almost overbalance. "NO!" you cried. "My mistake! Not here!"

"What the-what's wrong with staying at a Wal-Mart?" Hiro asked, his grip on your hand growing stronger and stronger.

You shook your head. "Too many people are here. What if they all end up being zombies as well?"

"Who started this? You know?" Hiro asked.

"How should I know? I was ASLEEP!" you screamed back, trying to dull out the strains of the chants that were only growing in volume. "ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH!" you screamed finally, your piercing voice reverberating through the entire crowd as the zombies fell back, the sound waves effectively slowing them down even farther. Even Hiro had the sense to cover his ears, though your scream still pierced through his own brain. After what felt like forever, you finally stopped, but the zombies were still conscious to keep going at you.

"CRAP! THAT TOTALLY DID NOT WORK!" you screamed again.

Suddenly, it was as if a light bulb has gone off on Hiro's head. "(Y/N). I have an idea."

Soon, it was he who lead you through the streets, away from the Wal-Mart that you accidentally found yourselves at, aiming his crossbow at the zombies behind him as one by one, the zombies up front started to drop dead. You took up his lead and aimed the pistol at the back, pressing the trigger repeatedly as the zombies started to drop and collapse. But too soon, that proved to be a waste of time. You were soon out of bullets, and Hiro out of arrows.

"Now what?" you groaned.

Hiro chuckled. "That wasn't the idea I was thinking of. Come with me."

Soon, you found yourselves in a dark alleyway. Hiro then put his crossbow down and jumped into an empty box, peeking out at you from the flaps.

"Really, Hiro? You really think that's going to work?" you asked, putting your hands on your hips.

Hiro rolled his eyes. "Come on, (Y/N). You're talking to a genius! Just get in another box!" he cried.

Soon, the zombies arrived, but all they saw were boxes, though the scent of flesh and blood were stronger there.

"WE WILL KILL!" they chanted, their haunted and empty voices shrieking together in unison.

That did it. With no other line of defense, you screamed yet another ear-splitting scream.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Despite the stuffiness in the box, you still had enough oxygen to breathe in and then offer that vocal weapon that set the zombies staggering backward and for Hiro to, once again, cover his ears. But soon he found that it was helping. As he peeked out of the flaps, the zombies seemed to start rolling back due to the sound waves that you were offering. Nodding, he joined you.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Both your screams and Hiro's effectively distracted the zombies, and then, without breaking off the noise coming from your throat, you leaped out of the box, took out a pair of scissors from your backpack, and opened them up, throwing them like a boomerang through the crowd. The blades effectively cut through everyone's skin, but they kept advancing after a brief recovery.

Shaking, you and Hiro stopped the screams and backed up, your shoulders pressed against each other, neither of you realizing that your hands have linked once more as the zombies approached.

"(Y/N), I have to tell you something," Hiro finally said, turning to you.

"Well, make it quick, because we're going to die soon!" you cried, your heart pounding hard in fear and adrenaline.

"Alright then! Screw the talking!" He then placed a hand on the back of your head and brought you close, forcefully smashing his lips onto yours. A squeak emitted from the back of your throat as his cold lips made contact with yours, but you still managed to kiss him back, your eyes slipping shut. Having never imagined your best friend acting like this to you, it was a first, but you decided to let it go for the sake of the fact that yes, you too also feared of losing him to the zombies.

"Thanks. I love you too," you said quickly and breathlessly, holding up your backpack as a shield, your other hand gripping hard on Hiro's, anticipating the feeling of sinking teeth into your flesh...

But instead, you heard laughter.

"What the..." you murmured, lowering the backpack as you looked at the group of zombies. "What's going on?"

Fred-zombie came out in the front and took off his zombie-skin, revealing himself as the fresh and young fanboy that you have grown to love so much-besides Hiro, that was. "Got you good, didn't we?"

Soon, Gogo-zombie and Honey Lemon-zombie joined him, taking off their zombie skins and revealing their normal selves, smirking at the both of you.

"You really think we would kill you and make you become one of us?" Gogo smirked. "Yeesh, guys. You seemed to take this way too seriously."

"B-b-b-but..." Hiro started to stutter, his face blanching. "You...wait, was this-"

Soon everyone, including the dead zombies that you and Hiro 'killed', took off their zombie skins and smiled, making your jaws drop.

"No. Way," Hiro breathed.

"How were WE to know that was a prank?!" you cried, slapping Fred on the arm playfully.

"Well, that was the idea! You weren't supposed to!" Tadashi chuckled. "But seriously. The reaction on your faces was PRICELESS! And that kiss at the end...man, that was solid."

You and Hiro then glanced at each other, your cheeks flushed with pink and heat and embarrassment. Then you both turned back to the gang.

"OH WE ARE GOING TO GET YOU BACK!"

With that, you shouldered your backpack, grabbed your empty gun and Hiro his empty crossbow, and chased the gang with them, making them scream as you all ran back to SFIT, you and Hiro finally laughing in relief as you kept giving the gang a good scare.

BAD ENDING I KNOW. I wrote this all on Word. I really thought I wouldn't have time to update, but I actually do have a bit of time. :) So I hope this really got your hairs raised. I'm bad at horror somewhat...I'll admit it...
