Chapter 02
I finally reached the town after taking a taxi. I called the number my father had given me and an old voice picked.
"Hello, who's this?" a voice answered and I listened attentively, trying to identify the voice, but couldn't.
"I was given this number by my father," I explained. "He said I should contact you. We're supposed to meet in town."
"Oh, yes. Please come to Lakeview Arena. I'll be waiting for you. There's a restaurant at the junction. Wait for me there," the matured man replied.
I took another taxi to Lakeview Junction and waited at the restaurant, thinking about my sister and father.
I tried calling them, but they didn't pick up, was this a separation?
As I waited, I wondered who would meet me at this hour and why I was sent here was still a mystery to me.
When the man arrived, he greeted me warmly. "Nolan, nice to meet you. Your father told me everything. I'm sorry about what happened." He said.
I recognised the old man.
He was a respected elder of the town.
One of a kind that people feared to have possessed to have used meta powers.
"Did your father give you a box or any documents?" he asked. I nodded, curious.
"Please follow me," he said, leading me through the restaurant to a back room. It turned out he owned the restaurant.
He showed me into a room, brought out the box, and examined the document my father had given me. "Would you like to check the box?" he asked.
I nodded, and we opened it. Inside, I found nothing special but my baby clothes. "Can you tell me what's in the document?" I asked.
He smiled. "Tomorrow, we'll find out."
I couldn't sleep, my mind racing with questions. What was my father trying to communicate with the document? What was it about? And why were my baby clothes significant as well?
I tossed and turned, worrying about my sister's leg injuries and my father's safety. Had they reached the hospital safely? We're they now okay?
I tried to pray, but felt a strange energy surrounding me. I looked up, then lay back down, forcing myself to sleep.
When I woke up, the old man was sitting next to me.
"It's time to get up. You need to refresh, and we'll be heading out." He said.
"Where are we going?" I asked, confused.
"We'll be going to Harrison's family," he replied. "We have something there."
I felt a mix of emotions, unsure what to expect.
The only people I knew I had to see were my father, and sister, but now it seemed like we were going somewhere else entirely new.
After refreshing, we headed to the Harrison's family mansion.
They were a well known wealthy family too.
I didn't really know why we were going to this place, for a job? Or why Elder Paul, the man my father had asked me to meet, was bringing me here.
As soon as we reached the estate, the security men were initially hostile towards us. Elder Paul explained that we were in-laws to the Harrisons.
"What do you mean you're in-laws?" the man disputed, not believing that someone like him or me could be related to the Harrison family.
I laughed inside without a lip split, actually that's crazy.
"We are in-laws," Elder Paul replied.
The security men laughed, doubting our connection to the Harrisons.
"I think what's going to happen is that you're going to leave this place," the chief security warned after laughing.
"If you don't leave, you're going to get hurt, mad old fool." he threatened, warning of pain and rage.
"I'm not really afraid of you," Elder Paul said. "I know who I am and why I'm here, young little idiot." Elder Paul fires.
The security man stood firm.
"You think you're someone who can step into this compound? You who smells like onions and wears tattered rags? You're rats, beggars trying to disguise yourself to come in here and beg, old man, take your life lessons elsewhere." The commander warned.
"Quit the chase and leave immediately before you regret it," the security man threatened, placing his hand on Elder Paul, grabbing his clothes as rags.
But I wasn't going to let anyone hurt him. I quickly stood up, protecting Elder Paul, and dragged the security man's hand off. The fight escalated.
Before I knew it, I received a lash on my back, and they started beating me up and down like a punching bag, which I blocked in all directions.
"If you hurt that boy, you'll regret it for the rest of your lives! Don't let me unleash how dangerous I am," the old man warned as they kept fighting.
Just then, a lady arrived - Old Madam Harrison. The commotion had drawn her attention.
"What is happening here?" she asked, and everyone stood still.
The security chief explained, but Madam Harrison wasn't interested in the details.
"I said what happened?" she asked again.
"People disguising themselves as in-laws came here to pretend that they are in-laws of the Harrison family. I tried to send them off, and they refused, so we decided to teach them a lesson!" The commander said in rage.
"Madam, I feel it's best for you to get them arrested and locked," the chief security said.
Elder Paul brought out his talisman.
"It seems like you have underestimated and insulted who I am. I am a state elder, how dare you abuse me."
Everyone understood that he was a top-faired master, an elder and ancestral elder not to be joked with.
"Pow!" Madam Harrison landed a slap over the guard and quickly walked closer towards us.
"I'm really sorry about the discomfort my men must have put you through. Please come in. Whatever you have to say, we can talk about it indoors."
But Elder Paul didn't feel like responding. "No, we'll talk about it when you call a family meeting because I'm here with something to announce to the entire family... You must listen attentively, as this is a one-and-a-lifetime deal to redeem yourselves." He spoke, like it was a curse.
I stood stunned by the commotions.
Elder Paul immediately asked for a family meeting. We walked into the mansion, and different family members gathered from different places.
When asked to announce whatever he had to say, Elder Paul stood up, reading from a letter document.
"As an Elder, I have come to announce that your Grand Daughter, Miss Elina, Heiress of the Harrison is betrothed to this young man, Nolan Orchestra!" The old man announces.
"What!?" Miss Harrison said.
"Of what dirty source did you get that information!" Miss Harrison switches.
"I have always had respect for elders, but how dare you come into my home and marry my grandDaughter off, of which rights do you have Elder Paul!?" She asked.
"Do you want to die?" A strange but noticeable billionaire called Augustus Brian threatens from the side.
"I cannot disrespect your home Madam Harrison, but it is in the word of Late Sir. Harrison and signed that she be betrothed to Nolan!" He fires.
"This is madness!" Elina stood up with tantrums.
"You will regret this!" Miss Harrison says in rage as she glares at him, it was the perfect Grandma versus Grandpa action packed danger energies.
"Security! Arrest these insolences!" She orders but Mr. Paul raises a document.
"Retreat!" Elder Paul fires back.
"For I have evidence." He orders.
