Chapter 8
Song is Weak by AJR
"Ryan?" Quinn asks.
"He was my best friend before he-he, I don't know! He just-just," I say before breaking into sobs again.
"Jace, you can't keep her here anymore. She needs to go home," Quinn tells my brother.
"Florida?" I ask, confused.
"No. Your real home. Vi, pack up some stuff for Sera. Tyler, tell my father I'm bringing her home. Jace, you're coming with me," Quinn commands.
They all nod, saying "Yes, Alpha."
What does 'Alpha' mean? Is it like a computer program? Are they all robots?!
"Are you guys robots?" I ask, sniffling.
Quinn looks down at me and smiles.
"No, Angel. We're more than that."
I nod, feeling drowsy from all my crying. So much has happened in one day.
"Quinn, don't let him... take me," I mumble, starting to fall asleep.
"I won't, Angel, ever."
Finally, I drift off, getting plunged into nightmares about Ryan.
Quinn
"Quinn, how are you going to tell her?" Jace asks me as we drive to the pack house.
He's holding her in his lap, while she thrashes and writhes in her sleep. Nightmares, most likely. I clench the steering wheel tightly until my knuckles turn white.
"I don't know," I growl.
"Don't spring it on her. She's fragile," he warns me.
I nod curtly, trying not to snap at him. Right now I'm just thinking about that bloodsucker. Hunter's pacing in my head, trying to come out so he can rip apart that vampire.
"Jace, Quinn, someone, help," Sera mumbles, squeezing her eyes shut and whimpering.
I reach my hand out and touch her curled up leg. Hunter calms at the touch, luckily, and I do too.
We arrive at the pack house, and my father is standing in the entry way. Tyler grabs Violet's hand and takes her out of the car, and to the pack house. Jace carries Sera outside, also going in. I run in to catch up, after locking the car and grabbing Sera's bags. When I pass my father, he grabs my arm lightly.
"We need to talk. Bring Tyler and Jace as well. Leave the human girl with your mate," my father whispers.
I nod. I'm surprised he even acknowledges Violet. He doesn't hate her, he actually likes her input on things, but he's still wary about her being human. They are only a few humans in this town, Violet and Sera being two of them.
I find all of them in Sera's room for when she moved in. Sera lays on her bed, tucked in.
"Tyler, Jace, my father wants to talk with us. Violet, watch Sera," I tell them.
They nod, Tyler and Jace following me out and to my father's office.
"Quinn, did you see the vampire?" My father asks me.
He has us in his office, answering questions.
"No, Sir, he was gone by the time we got to Sera."
"Was she bitten?"
"No."
"We haven't heard anything about the threat, but there have been reports of suspicious behavior. We aren't certain though, and every time we try to follow a suspect, they seem to disappear the next day. As if they know we're suspecting them. I'm quite worried."
"Alpha, the vampire, Ryan, bit my sister when she was in ninth grade, a few years ago. Her scar had healed, but she sometimes gets nightmares about him. Could it possibly be him contacting her?" Jace says.
"It could very well be. And if so, we can use that to track him. Maybe we can see how he got into our territory, as well as them."
I frown. Sera never mentioned nightmares. My poor Angel. Hunter whimpers in my head, wanting to go hold our mate now more than ever.
My father notices my discomfort, so he goes to stand.
"Thank you, boys, for answering my questions. Why don't you go to Violet and Serafina," my father says.
"Thank you, Father," I reply, standing up and walking swiftly to the door.
Tyler and Jace go out, but before I do, my father puts a hand on my shoulder.
"Quinn, when you tell her about us, go easy on her. She's a human; they're very fragile. We don't want a repeat of Violet, right?" My father warns, a hint of amusement in his tone at the end.
I smile slightly, shaking my head.
"No. I will go easy on her."
"Good. Now go comfort your mate."
I nod, walking out, and go to Sera's room. Tyler and Jace are already there, talking to Violet.
"She called out for help a lot, mumbling about Ryan," Violet continues to tell Tyler and Jace.
They all look up when they see me. I ignore them, going over to my Angel. She looks peaceful right now, her chest rising and falling softly. I grabs her small hand in mine and stare at her.
"My poor Angel," I murmur, stroking her hand with my thumb.
Her breath hitches for a moment, then evens out again. I turn to the others.
"When she wakes up, can you be here, or at least right outside, so I can tell her? She'll need some comfort afterwards," I ask.
They nod.
"Quinn?" Sera groans from behind me.
I let go of her hand and she uses both of them to rub her eyes. Her soft blue eyes become wide as she takes in her new surroundings.
"Where am I? Violet? Jace? Tyler?" She asks, her cute little nose scrunching in confusion.
"You're, um, home," I tell her.
"Home? But this isn't my room."
"Yeah, this is your real home."
She tilts her head, so confused right now.
"What do you mean?"
"Um, Sera, I need to tell you something," I start slowly.
Oh boy, how am I supposed to do this now?
Okay, that was a bit better....right? He...hehe
Oh! Before I forget, if a chapter happens to not have a pov name above it when it starts, it means it's back to Sera's pov. Sorry, but I'm too lazy to write it out. If I remember correctly, though, I might have put every pov for every chap if it changed from chap to chap. That sounded confusing. Wow.
OH, AND ALSO THANK YOU FOR MORE THAN 200 READS! ACK, I'M SO HAPPY. Seriously, my friends are all probably tired of me practically screaming at them via capital-lettered texts every time the read count goes up. So, to thank you all, I will post ANOTHER CHAPTER TODAY, AND a new chapter every Thursday as well as the normal Sundays!
And I'm back to putting random songs with chappies! Ha!
Comment, vote, and share plz!
