Sick

It was Autumn at the edge, and everyone was starting to wrap up warm. There was a slight chill in the air, so everyone made sure to stay inside as much as possible. Hiccup had been called to Berk, for an emergency meeting.

When he got back he looked weary, and explained,

"It was literally nothing, Berk's fishermen just wanted to know what direction the fish were going in, therefore needing Toothless. I'm going to get an early night."

The gang thought nothing of it, as he went to bed, and not long after they did too.

-----------------------

That morning, the gang walked into the room seeing a black-eyed Hiccup sitting at the table, reading a book.

"Morning Hiccup?! Why are you up so early?"

"What...? Oh, yeah I couldn't sleep."

HIccup then went to sneeze but stopped himself before he did. Everyone looked at each other, slightly worried.

"Hiccup do you feel alright? You don't look so good. Maybe you should go to bed?"

"No, I'm fine. I have too much to do today anyway."

"Hiccup..."

"Astrid, IM FINE."

Everyone looked confused at his blunt answer but didn't think much of it.

That afternoon, dragon hunters were spotted on the horizon. The gang jumped on their dragons, before zooming off. As they approached the ship,  Astrid looked at Hiccup worriedly again.

"Hiccup are you sure your alright? I think you should turn back-"

"NO. I'm the leader so I need to be here so the twins won't mess up."

The gang shared a look again, obviously not believing him.

"Ok... but if you start to feel bad then just tell us."

"Fine."

They were finally spotted, and the action commenced. They were soon dodging and shooting at the boat, before soon the boat sunk into the sea.

Normally, after they'd sunk a ship/armada, they would cheer before flying back to the edge. But this time, the rest of the gang cheered but Hiccup just drove a confused Toothless upwards towards the clouds.

"Hiccup?"

------------------------------------------

For the rest of the day, Hiccup stayed in his hut and the day after. The gang eventually called his father.

------------------------------------------

The day his father arrived, he still hadn't come out of his hut. His father landed and said,

"Where's my son?"

The gang decided not to tell the chief what was going on until he got there, making this conversation a lot harder.

"Well, he didn't look so good a couple of days ago, and ever since then he hasn't come out of his hut. We know he has eaten because we've managed to get food in. He doesn't want anyone to enter so we're kind of lost."

Explained Fishlegs.

"We'll see about that."

His father stormed through the edge followed by a slightly scared gang following behind, stopping before the red hut door.

"HICCUP."

He boomed, knocking on the door hard.

"Go away."

Came a small voice from inside, along with a defensive growl.

Stoick sighed, before barging the door down. He motioned for the gang to stay outside.

They heard stomping as Stoick walked along the wooden floorboards, and then a creak of a door. They heard a gasp and looked at each other with worry.

They barged in, and saw Hiccup, white, laying on his bed, eyes closed.

They moved closer, and Toothless growled, getting in front of him.

"Hiccup?"

"What?"

"Are you ok?"

"Well, yeah I'm fine-"

He started coughing and layed back again.

"Go away."

They looked at each other with worry, and Stoick turned around to Astrid.

"Send someone to get Gothi."

-----------------------------------

The next morning, Snotlout arrived back at the edge with Gothi. He went to help her off Hookfang, and she hit his head with a stick and hopped off.

Gothi walked into the hut, pushing everyone else out.

After about half an hour, she came out again, with a slight frown on her face. She put some sand on the ground and started writing with her stick.

Fishlegs started to read.

"Fishlegs!"

"What?"

"Read it OUT LOUD. I want to know what's wrong with my son."

"Oh. Well, it's not too bad but he's got Berk flu. A particularly bad case. He just needs bedrest."

As soon as he finished, a black terrible terror with blue highlights landed on Fishlegs' shoulder.

"It's got a lovely unique colour no? Wait, what's this?"

Fishlegs picked a small letter off of its leg and reads it.

"What is it now?"

"Dragon hunters have been seen that Hiccup's out of action, and have now declared war!"

"Great, let's just add that to our pile of problems."

--------------------------------------------------

Astrid flew down to the main dragon hunter ship, with her hands up.

"I just want to talk to Viggo."

She said, strutting in.

Viggo looked up from his work, expecting one of his men, but only saw Astrid, which made him raise his eyebrows in surprise.

"Ah, Astrid. What are you doing here?"

"I'm asking for you to retreat. At least until Hiccup gets better."

"My price is... 2 dragon lenses."

"Fine."

Astrid handed the lenses over, before heading back to the edge.

---------------------------------

"Did you manage to do it lass?"

Asked a tired looking Stoick.

As Hiccup had been barely sleeping, Stoick would stay with him, gently trying to make him sleep.

"Yes. At least until Hiccup gets better."

Everyone nodded, happy that they had some time.

-----------------------------

"Careful. He's still weak."

Said Stoick, opening the red-painted door.

Astrid walked in, before going up the stairs to the bed. Hiccup was laying on it white, and a bucket next to him.

As she walked in he gave a weak smile, before groaning and laying his head back down.

-------------------------------------

2 months later

-------------------------------------

Berk flu had finally disappeared from the edge. Everyone was at full health, and ready to go as the dragon hunter ships appeared on the horizon.

--------------------------------------

Hi guys! Sorry for the sucky ending, but I was a bit stuck!

(I'm back now, so I'm going to be able to write every day again!!!)
