"Sergeant Cross! In my office! Now!" Captain Fowler yells out in my direction, causing me to let out a sigh as I close some files.
"I wonder what you did this time."
"Can it, Reed," I retort before standing up and walking over to the glass office, heading up the few steps to it and then entering.
I let the door fall shut behind me, briefly eyeing the back of the android as I approach. The suit reads "RK800", which is his model.
He shifts as I stand beside him, glancing down at me. Momentarily meeting his gaze, I study his features, noticing his brown eyes and hair, as well as the soft look he bares.
Not going to lie, he's quite attractive.
That's how androids are supposed to be, though. The perfect version of a human.
He appears to be scanning me to find out my identity, despite us going to be introduced here shortly anyway.
Darting my vision towards the captain, I shove my hands in my pockets, leaving my thumbs sticking out, and ask casually, "You need something, Captain?"
"Yes. I asked you here because I'm assigning you to work with Lieutenant Anderson and this android here on more deviant cases."
I arch an eyebrow, "Alright, but are you sure that Hank should be working with an android? You know he isn't too, uh...fond of them."
This definitely peaked the interest of the one standing beside me, but I pay no mind to that.
"I'm well aware, but he will just have to deal with it. We have an overflow of these cases and need more people to work on them. That's why I'm putting them with you, as you're experienced in this field. Think you can handle it?"
Chuckling lightly, I nod, "Obviously."
I adjust myself to face the android, inquiring, "If we're going to be working together, I'm going to need to know your name?"
"My name is Connor. I'm the android sent by CyberLife, and you're Sergeant YN Cross," he replies with a little smile.
"That's correct," I state, unsurprised. "Just call me YN."
I look back to the captain, "When do we start?"
"Today. Go find Hank. Connor has the details."
"You got it."
As we exit the office, I push my glasses up and Connor asks, "Have any idea as to where the Lieutenant could be?"
"Yeah," I answer, "he's either at home or at the bar. Come on, let's go. I'll drive."
Timeskip
Long story short, Hank was not at home nor at the few bars we went to. This is, what, the fourth one we're trying? The fifth? God, I don't know, I lost track.
We walk in the bar, ignoring the "no androids allowed" sign, and I spot Hank straight away.
"Gotcha," I mumble, leading us over to him.
"Hank," I speak up, gathering his attention as I lean against to the counter beside him.
"YN? What are you doing here? Especially with," he hesitates and partially growls, "an android."
"Lieutenant Anderson, my name is Connor. I'm the android sent by CyberLife. We've been looking for you. We were lucky to find you at the fifth bar," Connor intervenes.
Ah, so it was the fifth one.
"What do you want?" he grumbles.
"You were assigned a case early this evening with YN. A homicide involving a CyberLife android. In accordance with procedure, the company has allocated a specialized model to assist investigators," he explains.
"Well, I don't need any assistance. 'Specially not from a plastic asshole like you. So just be a good lil robot and get the fuck outta here."
This ticks me off a bit, but I keep myself in check, "How about a little bribery? I'll buy you a drink for the road if you come along with us."
Hank pauses to think.
Connor turns to the guy behind the counter, "Bartender, the same again, please."
"See that Jim? Wonders of friends and technology... Make it a double."
Once he gets his drink, he downs some of it before looking at us, "Did you say homicide?"
I grin, knowing that we've got him now.
I also didn't let that whole "friend" comment slip right past me, either, though I chose to not say anything about the subject.
